Ziyarate Janabe Hur (a.s.)

Text and Translation

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّهَا الْعَبْدُ الصَّالِحُ

alssalamu `alayka ayyuha al`abdu alssalihu

Peace be upon you, O righteous servant,

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّهَا الْمُجَاهِدُ النَّاصِحُ

alssalamu `alayka ayyuha almujahidu alnnasihu

peace be upon you, O striver, the sincere advisor,

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْكَ یَا مَنْ وَفیٰ بِالسَّعَادَۃِ الرَّابِحَۃِ

alssalamu `alayka ya man wafa bilssa`adati alrrabihati

peace be upon you, O one who attained profitable happiness,

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْكَ یَا مَنْ نَكَثَ بَیْعَتَ یَزِیْدَ

alssalamu `alayka ya man nakatha bay`ata yazida

peace be upon you, O one who broke his allegiance to Yazid,

وَفَدیٰ بِرُوْحِهٖ لِلْحُسَیْنِ الشَّهِیْدِ

wa fada biruhihi lilhusayni alshshahidi

and sacrificed his soul for al-Husain the martyr,

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّهَا الْبَطَلُ الصَّنْدِیْدُ

alssalamu `alayka ayyuha albatalu alssandidu

peace be upon you, O the mighty, valiant hero,

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّهَا الْفَارِسُ الشُّجَاعُ

alssalamu `alayka ayyuha alfarisu alshshuja`u

peace be upon you, O the brave horseman,

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّهَا الْبَطَلُ الْمَنَّاعُ

alssalamu `alayka ayyuha albatalu almanna`u

peace be upon you, O the staunch, defending hero,

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْكَ یَا مَنْ تَرَكَ الطُّغْیَانَ

alssalamu `alayka ya man taraka altughyana

peace be upon you, O one who abandoned tyranny,

وَاَطَاعَ الْوَاحِدَ الدَّیَّانَ

wa ata`a alwahida alddayyana

and obeyed the One, the Requiter,

وَدَخَلَ فِیْ طَاعَتِ الرَّحْمٰنِ

wa dakhala fi ta`ati alrrahmani

and entered into obedience to the All-Merciful,

وَفَدیٰ بِرُوْحِهٖ لِلْحُسَیْنِ الشَّهِیْدِ الْغَرِیْبِ الْعَطْشَانِ

wa fada biruhihi lilhusayni alshshahidi alghharibi al`atshani

and sacrificed his soul for al-Husain, the martyr, the stranger, the thirsty one,

وَصَالَ عَلَی الْعُدْوَانِ

wa sala `ala al`udwani

and charged against the aggression (of the enemy),

وَهُوَ صَرِیْعاً عَلَی التِّرْبَانِ

wa huwa sari`an `ala altturbani

while lying slain upon the dust,

وَخُطِیَ بِالْخُلْدِ وَالْجِنَانِ

wa khutiya bilkhuldi waljinani

and was betrothed to eternity and the Gardens of Paradise.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْكَ یَا حُرُّ الشَّهِیْدِ الرِّیَاحِیْ

alssalamu `alayka ya hurru alshshahidu alrriyahi

Peace be upon you, O Hurr, the martyr, al-Riyahi,

وَرَحْمَۃُ اللّٰهِ بَرَكَاتُهٗ۔

wa rahmatu allahi barakatuhu

and Allah’s mercy and His blessings.
