Dua Kumayl

Text and Translation

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْ اَسْاَلُكَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ الَّتِيْ وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ

ALLAAHUMMA INNI AS-ALOKA BERAH’MATEKAL LATEE WASEA’T KULLA SHAY-IN

O Allah! I ask You by Your mercy, which encompasses all things

وَ بِقُوَّتِكَ الَّتِيْ قَهَرْتَ بِهَا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ

WA BE-QUWWATEKAL LATEE QAHARTA BEHAA KULLA SHAY-IN

And by Your strength, through which You dominate all things,

وَ خَضَعَ لَهَا كُلُّ شَيْءٍ

WA KHAZA-A’ LAHAA KULLO SHAY-IN

And to which all things submit

وَ ذَلَّ لَهَا كُلُّ شَيْءٍ

WA ZALLA LAHAA KULLO SHAY-IN

And before which all things are humble;

وَ بِجَبَرُوْتِكَ الَّتِيْ غَلَبْتَ بِهَا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ

WA BE-JABAROOTEKAL LATEE GHALABTA BEHAA KULLA SHAY-IN

And by Your invincibility through which You overwhelm all things,

وَ بِعِزَّتِكَ الَّتِيْ لَا يَقُوْمُ لَهَا شَيْءٌ

WA BE-I’ZZATEKAL LATEE LAA YAQOOMO LAHAA SHAY-UN

And by Your might, which nothing can resist:

وَ بِعَظَمَتِكَ الَّتِيْ مَلَاَتْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ

WA BE-A’ZAMATEKAL LATEE MALA-AT KULLA SHAY-IN

And by Your grandeur, which prevails upon all things;

وَ بِسُلْطانِكَ الَّذي عَلٰي كُلَّ شَيْءٍ

WA BE-SULTAANEKAL LAZEE A’LAA KULLA SHAY-IN

by Your authority, which is exercised over all things:

وَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْبَاقِيْ بَعْدَ فَنَاءِ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ

WA BE-WAJHEKAL BAAQI BA’DA FANAAA-E KULLE SHAY-IN

And by Your face, which shall endure after the annihilation of all things.

وَ بِاَسْمَائِكَ الَّتِيْ مَلَاَتْ اَرْكَانَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ

WA BE-ASMAAA-EKAL LATEE MALA-AT ARKAANA KULLE SHAY-IN

And by Your Names, which have occupied the being of all things:

وَ بِعِلْمِكَ الَّذِيْ اَحَاطَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ

WA BE-I’LMEKAL LAZEE AHAATA BE KULLE SHAY-IN

And by Your knowledge, which pervades all things:

وَ بِنُوْرِ وَجْهِكَ الَّذِيْ اَضَاءَ لَهٗ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ

WA BE-NOORE WAJHEKAL LAZEE AZAA-A LAHU KULLO SHAY-IN

And by the light of Your countenance, which illuminates all things

يَا نُوْرُ يَا قُدُّوْسُ

YAA NOORO YAA QUDDOOSO

O Light! O All-Holy!

يَا اَوَّلَ الْاَوَّلِيْنَ

YAA AWWALAL AWWALEENA

O You who existed before the foremost!

وَ يَا آخِرَ الْآخِرِيْنَ

WA YAA AAKHERAL AAKHEREENA

O You who shall exist after the last!

اَللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِيَ الذُّنُوْبَ الَّتِيْ تَهْتِكُ الْعِصَمَ

ALLAAHUM-MAGH FIR LEYAZ ZONOOBAL LATEE TAHTEKUL E’SAMA

O Allah! Forgive me those sins which tear apart safeguards!

اَللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِيَ الذُّنُوْبَ الَّتِيْ تُنْزِلُ النِّقَمَ

ALLAAHUMMAGH FIR LEYAZ ZONOOBAL LATEE TUNZELUN NEQAMA

O Allah! Forgive me those sins which draw down adversities!

اَللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِيَ الذُّنُوْبَ الَّتِيْ تُغَيِّرُ النِّعَمَ

ALLAAHUMMAGH FIR LEYAZ ZONOOBAL LATEE TOGHAYYERUN NE-A’M

O Allah! Forgive me those sins which change divine favours (into disfavours)!

اَللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِيَ الذُّنُوْبَ الَّتِيْ تَحْبِسُ الدُّعَاءَ

ALLAAAHUMMAGH FIR LEYAZ ZONOOBAL LATEE TAHBESUD DOA

O Allah! Forgive me those sins which hold back supplication!

اَللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِيَ الذُّنُوْبَ الَّتِيْ تَقْطَعُ الرَّجَآءَ

ALLAAHUMMAGH FIR LEYAZ ZONOOBAL LATEE TAQTA-U’R RAJAAA

O Allah! Forgive me those sins which draw down tribulation!

اَللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِيَ الذُّنُوْبَ الَّتِيْ تُنْزِلُ الْبَلَاءَ

ALLAAHUMMAGH FIR LEYAZ ZONOOBAL LATEE TUNZELUL BALAA

O Allah! Forgive me those sins which suppress hopes!

اَللّٰهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِيْ كُلَّ ذَنْبٍ اَذْنَبْتُهٗ

ALLAAHUMMAGH FIR LEE KULLA ZAMBIN AZNABTAHU

O Allah! Forgive me every sin I have committed

وَ كُلَّ خَطِيْئَة اَخْطَاْتُهَا

WA KULLA KHATEEATIN AKHTAATOHAA

and every mistake I have made!

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّيْ اَتَقَرَّبُ اِلَيْكَ بِذِكْرِكَ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE ATAQARRABO ELAYKA BE ZIKREKA

O Allah! Verily I seek nearness to You through remembrance of You.

وَ اَسْتَشْفِعُ بِكَ اِلٰى نَفْسِكَ

WA ASTASHFEO’ BEKA ELAA NAFSEKA

And I seek intercession from You with Yourself,

وَ اَسْاَلُكَ بِجُوْدِكَ اَنْ تُدْنِيَنِيْ مِنْ قُرْبِكَ

WA AS-ALOKA BE JOODEKA AN TUDNEYANI MIN QURBEKA
