Ziyarat-e-Ameenullah

Text and Translation

Jabir ibne Abdullah Ansari (r.a.), the famous companion of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) reported that Imam Zainul Abedin (a.s.) and Imam Mohammed Baqir (a.s.) recited this Ziyarat in a state of lamentation and mourning near the grave of Imam Ali (a.s.).

Furthermore they said:- For those amongst our Shias who recite this Dua and Ziyarat near the grave of Ameerul Momeneen – Imam Ali (a.s.) , Allah (s.w.t.) will write this action in their scroll of deeds with Noor (light) and this will be further adorned by the seal of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.). He will then be placed in the protection of Hazrat-e-Qaem-e-Aal-e-Mohammed (a.t.f.s.) who will welcome him with honour and respect and give him glad tidings. (Ref: Mafateeh-ul-Jinaan)

This Ziyarat can also be recited near the shrine of other Holy Imams (a.s.).

The sentences of this Ziyarat seek acceptance of one’s desires, increase in sustenance, distancing from the enemies of Ahlebait (a.s.), contentment and protection from one’s enemies. Truly the benefits of reciting this Ziyarat are manifold.

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

BISMILLAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا اَمِیْنَ اللّٰهِ فِیْ اَرْضِهٖ

ASSALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA AMEENALLAAHE FEE ARZEHI

Peace be on You, O the trustee of Allah on His earth,

وَحُجَّتَہٗ عَلٰی عِبَادِهٖ

WA HUJJATAHU A’LAA E’BAADEHI

and His Proof over His servants.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا اَمِیْرَ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ

ASSALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA AMEERAL MOMINEENA

Peace be on you, O Ameerul Mu’mineen.

اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ جَاهَدْتَ فِی اللّٰهِ حَقَّ جِهَادِهٖ

ASH-HADO ANNAKA JAAHADTA FILLAAHE HAQQA JEHAADEHI

I bear witness that, you strived in the way of Allah what is due,

وَعَمِلْتَ بِکِتَابِهٖ وَاتَّبَعْتَ سُنَنَ نَبِیِّهٖ

WA A’MILTA BEKETAABEHI WAT TABA’-TA SONANA NABIYYEHI

and you acted upon His Book, and followed the ways of His Prophet,

صَلَّ اللهُ عَلَیْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ حَتّٰی دَعَاكَ اللّٰهُ اِلٰی جِوَارِهٖ

SALLALLAAHO A’LAYHE WA AALEHI HATTAA DA-A’AKALLAAHO ELAA JEWAAREHI

blessings of Allah be on him and his family, until Allah called You to His side.

فَقَبَضَكَ اِلَیْهِ بِاِخْتِیَارِهٖ وَاَلْزَمَ اَعْدَآئَكَ

FAQABAZAKA ELAYHE BE-IKHTEYAAREHI WA ALZAMA AA’-DAAA-EKAL

So He took you to Him by His choice, and made incumbent upon your enemies

الْحُجَّۃَ مَعَ مَا لَكَ مِنَ الْحُجَجِ الْبَالِغَةِ

HUJJATA MA-A’ MAALAKA MENAL HOJAJIL BAALEGHATE

the proof, with what you have of the considerable proofs,

عَلٰی جَمِیْعِ خَلْقِهٖ

A’LAA JAMEE-E’ KHALQEHI

over all of His creation.

اَللّٰهُمَّ فَاجْعَلْ نَفْسِیْ مُطْمَئِنَّۃً بِقَدَرِكَ

ALLAAHUMMA FAJ-A’L NAFSEE MUTMA-INNATAN BEQADAREKA

O Allah, then make my soul, satisfied with Your decree,

رَآضِیَۃً بِقَضَآئِكَ مُوْلَعَۃً بِذِکْرِكَ وَدُعَآئِكَ

RAAZEYATAN BEQAZAAA-EKA MOOLA-A’TAN BEZIKREKA WA DO-A’AAA-EKA

pleased with what You have destined for me, fond of Your remembrance and supplications,

مُحِبَّۃً لِصَفْوَةِ اَوْلِیَآئِكَ

MOHIBBATAN LESAFWATE AWLEYAAA-EKA

loving Your chosen friends.

مَحْبُوْبَۃً فِیْ اَرْضِكَ وَسَمَآئِكَ

MAHBOOBATAN FEE ARZEKA WA SAMAAA-EKA

(Let me be) well liked on Your earth and in Your heavens,

صَابِرَۃً عِنْدَ نُزُوْلِ بَلَآئِكَ

SAABERATAN A’LAA NOZOOLE BALAAA-EKA

patient when You send down afflictions,

شَاکِرَۃً لِفَوَاضِلِ نَعْمَآئِكَ

SHAAKERATAN LEFAWAAZELE NAA’-MAAA-EKA

grateful for Your gracious blessings,

ذَاکِرَۃً لِسَوَابِغْ اٰلَآئِكَ

ZAAKERATAN LESAWAABEGHE AALAAA-EKA

remembering Your abundant bounties,

مُشْتَاقَۃً اِلٰی فَرْحَتِ لِقَآئِكَ

MUSHTAAQATAN ELAA FARHATE LEQAAA-EKA

yearning for the happiness of meeting with You,

مُتَزَوِّدَۃً لِلْتَّقْوٰی لِیَوْمِ جَزَائِكَ

MOTAZAWWEDATAN LIT-TAQWAA LEYAWME JAZAAA-EKA

equipped with piety for the day of Your reward,

مُسْتَنَّۃً بِسُنَنِ اَوْلِیَآئِكَ

MUSTANNATAN BESONANE AWLEYAAA-EKA

following the manners of Your friends,

مُفَارِقَۃً لِاَخْلاَقِ اَعْدَائِكَ

MOFAAREQATAN LE-AKHLAAQE AA’-DAAA-EKA

avoiding the manners of Your enemies,

مَشْغُوْلَۃً عَنِ الدُّنْیَا بِحَمْدِكَ وَثَنَآئِكَ

MASHGHOOLATAN A’NID DUNYAA BEHAMDEKA WA SANAAA-EKA

diverted from the (love of) world by Your remembrance and Your praise.

This part of the Ziyaarat was read by our fourth Imam (a.s) while resting his cheek on the grave of Imam Ali (a.s)

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنَّ قُلُوْبَ الْمُخْبِتِیْنَ اِلَیْكَ وَالِهَۃٌ

ALLAAHUMMA INNA QOLOOBAL MUKHBETEENA ELAYKA WAALEHATUN

O Allah, the hearts of those who humble themselves before You, are full of amazement.

وَسُبُلَ الرَّاغِبِیْنَ اِلَیْكَ شَارِعَۃٌ

WA SOBOLAR RAAGHEBEENA ELAYKA SHAARE-A’TUN

the paths of those who desire You are fixed.

وَاَعْلاَمَ الْقَاصِدِیْنَ اِلَیْكَ وَاضِحَۃٌ

WA AA’-LAAMAL QAASEDEENA ELAYKA WAAZEHATUN

The signs for those who seek You are clear.

وَاَفْئِدَۃَ الْعَارِفِیْنَ مِنْكَ فَازِعَۃٌ

WA AF-EDATAL A’AREFEENA MINKA FAAZE-A’TUN

The hearts of those who know You, are empty of other than You.

وَاَصْوَاتَ الدَّاعِیْنَ اِلَیْكَ صَاعِدَۃٌ

WA ASWAATAD DAA-E’EENA ELAYKA SAA-E’DATUN

The sounds of those who call You rise to You,

وَاَبْوَابَ الْاِجَابَةِ لَهُمْ مُفَتَّحَۃٌ

WA ABWAABAL EJAABATE LAHUM MOFATTAHATUN

and the gates of answers are open for them.

وَدَعْوَۃَ مَنْ نَاجَاكَ مُسْتَجَابَۃٌ

WA DAA’-WATA MAN NAAJAAKA MUSTAJAABATUN

The prayer of the one who whispers to you is answered.

وَتَوْبَۃَ مَنْ اَنَابَ اِلَیْكَ مَقْبُوْلَۃٌ

WA TAWBATA MAN ANAABA ELAYKA MAQBOOLATUN

The repentance of the one who turns to You is accepted.

وَعَبْرَۃَ مَنْ بَکٰی مِنْ خَوْفِكَ مَرْحُوْمَۃٌ

WA A’BRATA MAN BAKAA MIN KHAWFEKA MARHOOMATUN

The tears of the one who weeps in Your fear are dealt with mercifully.

وَالْاِغَاثَۃَ لِمَنِ السْتَغَاثَ بِكَ مَوْجُوْدَۃٌ

WAL EGHAASATA LEMANIS-TAGHAASA BEKA MAWJOODATUN

Help is available for one who cry for help from You,

وَالْاِعَانَۃَ لِمَنِ اسْتَعَانَ بِكَ مَبْذُوْلَۃٌ

WAL E-A’ANATA LEMANIS-TA-A’ANA BEKA MABZOOLATUN

and assistance is given generously to the one who seeks it.

وَعِدَاتِكَ لِعِبَادِكَ مَنْجَزَۃٌ

WA E’DAATEKA LE-E’BAADEKA MUNJAZATUN

Your promises for Your servants are fulfilled.

وَزَلَلَ مَنِ اسْتَقَالَكَ مُقَالَۃٌ

WA ZALALA MANIS-TAQAALAKA MOQAALATUN

The errors of the one who seeks to reduce them, are reduced.

وَاَعْمَالَ الْعَامِلِیْنَ لَدَیْكَ مَحْفُوْظَۃٌ

WA AA’-MAALAL AA’-MELEENA LADAYKA MAHFOOZATUN

The actions of the doers (of good deeds), are preserved with You,

وَاَرْزَاقَ الْخَلَآئِقِ مِنْ لَدُنْكَ نَازِلَۃٌ

WA ARZAAQAKA ELAL KHALAAA-EQE MIN LADUNKA NAAZELATUN

and the provision for Your creatures comes down.

وَعَوَآئِدَ الْمَزِیْدِ اِلَیْهِمْ وَاصِلَۃٌ

WA A’WAAA-EDAL MAZEEDE ELAYHIM WAASELATUN

The promises of increase (in provision) reach them,

وَذُنُوْبَ الْمُسْتَغْفِرِیْنَ مَغْفُوْرَۃٌ

WA ZONOOBAL MUSTAGHFEREENA MAGHFOORATUN

The sins of those who seek forgiveness are forgiven.

وَحَوَآئِجَ خَلْقِكَ عِنْدَكَ مَقْضِیَّۃٌ

WA HAWAAA-EJA KHALQEKA I’NDAKA MAQZIYYATUN

The needs of Your creatures are fulfilled.

وَجَوَائِزِ السَّائِلِیْنَ عِنْدَكَ مُوَفَّرَۃٌ

WA JAWAAA-EZAS SAA-ELEENA I’NDAKA MOWAFFARATUN

The rewards of the beseechers are available in plenty, with You.

وَعَوَائِدَ الْمَزِیْدِ عِنْدَكَ مُتَوَاتِرَۃٌ

WA A’WAA-EDAL MAZEEDE MOTAWAATERATUN

The promises of increase are continous.

وَمَوَائِدَ الْمُسْتَطْعِمِیْنَ مُعَدَّۃٌ

WA MAWAAA-EDAL MUSTAT-E’MEENA MO-A’DDATUN

Wholesome food is prepared for the hungry,

وَمَنَاهِلَ الظِّمَآءِ لَدَیْكَ مُتْرَعَۃٌ

WA MANAAHELAZ ZEMAA-E MUTRA-A’TUN

and drinks are filled for the thirsty.

اَللّٰهُمَّ فَاسْتَجِبْ دُعَائِیْ وَاَقْبَلْ ثَنَآئِیْ

ALLAAHUMMA FAS-TAJIB DO-A’AA-EE WAQBAL SANAA-EE

O Allah, so answer my prayer, and accept my praise.

وَاجْمَعْ بَیْنِیْ وَبَیْنَ اَوْلِیَآئِیْ

WAJ-MA’-BAYNEE WA BAYNA AWLEYAAA-EE

Unite me with my friends,

بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّعَلِیٍّ وَفَاطِمَۃَ

BEHAQQE MOHAMMADINW WA A’LIYYIN WA FAATEMATA

for the sake of Mohammad, and Ali, and Fatimah,

وَالْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَیْنِ اِنَّكَ وَلِیُّ نَعْمَآئِیْ

WAL HASANE WAL HUSAYNE INNAKA WALIYYO NA’-MAAA-EE

Hasan and Husayn (a.s). Surely You are, the Master of my bounties,

وَمُنْتَہٰی مُنَایَ وَغَایَۃُ رَجَآئِیْ

WA MUNTAHAA MUNAAYA WA GHAAYATO RAJAAA-EE

the object of my desires, the goal of my hopes,

فِیْ مُنْقَلَبِیْ وَمَثْوَایَ

FEE MUNQALABEE WA MASWAAYA

in my ultimate end and my stable abode.

Then recite:

اَنْتَ اِلٰهِیْ وَسَیِّدِیْ وَمَوْلَایَ

ANTA ELAAHEE WA SAYYEDEE WA MAWLAAYA

(O Allah), You are my God, my Lord, and my Master.

اِغْفِرْلِاَوْلِیَآئِنَا وَکُفَّ عَنَّا اَعْدَآئَنَا

IGHFIR LI-AWLEYAAA-ENAA WA KUFFA A’NNAA AA’-DAAA-ANAA

Forgive (the sins of ) our guardians, keep away our enemies from us,

وَاشْغَلْهُمْ عَنْ اَذَانَا

WASHGHALHUM A’N AZAANAA

and divert them from troubling us.

وَاَظْهِرْ كَلِمَۃَ الْحَقِّ

WA AZHIR KALEMATAL HAQQE

Let the word of Truth become manifest

وَاجْعَلْهَا الْعُلْیَا وَاَدْحِضْ کَلِمَۃَ الْبَاطِلِ

WAJ-A’LHAL U’LYAA WA ADHIZ KALEMATAL BAATELE

and make it supreme, and let the word of falsehood be refuted

وَاجْعَلْهَا السُّفْلٰی اِنَّكَ عَلٰی کُلِّ شَیْءٍ قَدِیْرٌ

WAJ-A’LHAS SUFLAA INNAKA A’LAA KULLE SHAY-IN QADEERUN

and make it low, Surely You have power over all things.
