Ziyarate Janabe Hani ibn Urwah (a.s.)

Text and Translation

سَلاَمُ اللّٰهِ الْعَظِیْمِ

salamu allahi al`azimi

The peace of Allah, the Great,

وَصَلَوَاتُهٗ عَلَیْكَ یَا هَانِیْ ابْنُ عُرْوَۃَ

wa salawatuhu `alayka ya hani bnu `urwata

and His blessings be upon you, O Hani, son of `Urwah.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّهَا الْعَبْدُ الصَّالِحُ النَّاصِحُ لِلّٰهِ

alssalamu `alayka ayyuha al`abdu alssalihu alnnasihu lillahi

Peace be upon you, O righteous servant, sincere counselor for Allah’s sake

وَلِرَسُوْلِهٖ وَلِاَمِیْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ وَالْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَیْنِ عَلَیْهِمُ السَّلاَمُ

wa lirasulihi wa li'amiri almu'minina wa alhasani wa alhusayni `alayhimu alssalamu

and for His Messenger, and for the Commander of the Faithful, and al-Hasan and al-Husain, peace be upon them.

اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ قُتْلِتَ مَظْلُوْماً

ashhadu annaka qutilta mazluman

I bear witness that you were killed unjustly,

فَلَعَنَ اللّٰهُ مَنْ قَتَلَكَ وَاسْتَحَلَّ دَمَكَ

fala`ana allahu man qatalaka wastahalla damaka

so may Allah curse whoever killed you and deemed your blood lawful to shed,

وَحَشیٰ قُبُوْرَهُمْ نَاراً

wa hasha quburahum naran

and fill their graves with fire.

اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ لَقِیْتَ اللّٰهُ وَهُوَ رَاضٍ عَنْكَ

ashhadu annaka laqita allaha wa huwa radin `anka

I bear witness that you met Allah while He was pleased with you

بِمَا فَعَلْتَ وَنَصَحْتَ

bima fa`alta wa nasahta

for what you did and the sincere counsel you gave.

اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ قَدْ بَلَغْتَ دَرَجَۃً الشُّهَدَائِ

ashhadu annaka qad balaghta darajata alshshuhada'i

I bear witness that you attained the rank of the martyrs,

وَجُعِلَ رُوْحُكَ مَعَ اَرْوَاحِ السُّعَدَائِ

wa ju`ila ruhuka ma`a arwahi alssu`ada'i

and your soul was placed among the souls of the fortunate ones,

بِمَا نَصَحْتَ لِلّٰهِ وَلِرَسُوْلِهٖ مُجْتَهِداً

bima nasahta lillahi wa lirasulihi mujtahidan

for the sincere, diligent counsel you gave for Allah and His Messenger,

وَبَذَلْتَ نَفْسَكَ فِیْ ذَاتِ اللّٰهِ وَمَرْضَاتِهٖ

wa badhalta nafsaka fi dhati allahi wa mardatihi

and for giving your life for Allah’s sake and His good pleasure.

فَرَحِمَكَ اللّٰهُ وَرَضِیَ عَنْكَ

farahimaka allahu wa radiya `anka

May Allah have mercy on you and be pleased with you,

وَحَشَرَكَ مَعَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَاٰلِهٖ الطَّاهِرِیْنَ

wa hasharaka ma`a muhammadin wa alihi alttahirina

and resurrect you with Muhammad and his purified family,

وَجَمَعَنَا وَاِیَّاكُمْ مَعَهُمْ فِیْ دَارِ النَّعِیْمِ

wa jama`ana wa iyyakum ma`ahum fi dari alna`imi

and gather us and you together with them in the Abode of Bliss.

وَسَلاَمٌ عَلَیْكَ وَرَحْمَۃُ اللّٰهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهٗ۔

wa salamun `alayka wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu

And peace be upon you, and Allah’s mercy and blessings.
