Ziyarate Imam Musa Kazim (a.s.)

Text and Translation

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْكَ یَا نُوْرَا اللّٰهِ فِیْ ظُلُمَاتِ الْاَرْضِ

alssalamu `alayka ya nuran allahi fi zulumati al-ardi

Peace be upon you, O light of Allah in the darkness of the earth,

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْكَ یَا وَلِیَّ اللّٰهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya waliyya allahi

peace be upon you, O intimate friend of Allah,

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْكَ یَا حُجَّۃَ اللّٰهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya hujjata allahi

peace be upon you, O Argument of Allah,

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْكَ یَا بَابَ اللّٰهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya baba allahi

peace be upon you, O gate of Allah.

اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ اَقَمْتَ الصَّلوٰۃَ

ashhadu annaka aqamta alssalata

I bear witness that you established the prayer,

وَاٰتَیْتَ الزَّكوٰۃَ

wa atayta alzzakata

and paid the poor-rate,

وَاَمَرْتَ بِالْمَعْرُوْفِ

wa amarta bilma`rufi

and enjoined what is right,

وَنَهَیْتَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ

wa nahayta `ani almunkari

and forbade what is wrong,

وَتَلَوْتَ الْكِتَابَ حَقَّ تِلاَوَتِهٖ

wa talawta alkitaba haqqa tilawatihi

and recited the Book as it should truly be recited,

وَجَاهَدْتَ فِیْ اللّٰهِ حَقَّ جِهَادِهٖ

wa jahadta fi allahi haqqa jihadihi

and strove for the sake of Allah as one should truly strive,

وَصَبَرْتَ عَلَی الْأذَیٰ فِیْ جَنْبِهٖ مُحْتَسِباً

wa sabarta `ala al-adha fi janbihi muhtasiban

and patiently bore harm for His sake, seeking reward,

وَعَبَدْتَهٗ مُخْلِصاً

wa `abadtahu mukhlisan

and worshipped Him sincerely,

حَتیّٰ اَتَاكَ الْیَقِیْنُ

hatta ataka alyaqinu

until certainty (death) came to you.

اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ اَوْلیٰ بِاللّٰهِ وَبِرَسُوْلِهٖ

ashhadu annaka awla billahi wa birasulihi

I bear witness that you are most worthy in relation to Allah and His Messenger,

وَاَنَّكَ ابْنُ رَسُوْلِ اللّٰهِ حَقًّا

wa annaka ibnu rasuli allahi haqqan

and that you are truly the son of the Messenger of Allah.

اَبْرَئُ اِلَی اللّٰهِ مِنْ اَعْدَائِكَ

abra'u ila allahi min a`da'ika

I disavow before Allah your enemies,

وَاَتَقَرَّبُ اِلَی اللّٰهِ بِمَوَالاَتِكَ

wa ataqarrabu ila allahi bimuwalatika

and I seek nearness to Allah through my loyalty to you.

اَتَیْتُكَ یَا مُوَلاَیَ عَارِفاً بِحَقِّكَ

ataytuka ya mawlaya `arifan bihaqqika

I have come to you, O my master, knowing your right,

مُوَالِیاً لِاَوْلِیَائِكَ مَعَادِیاً لِاَعْدَائِكَ

muwaliyan li'awliya'ika mu`adiyan li'a`da'ika

loyal to your friends, hostile to your enemies,

فَاشْفَعْ لِیْ عَنْدَ رَبِّكَ۔

fashfa` li `inda rabbika

so intercede for me with your Lord.
