Ziyarate Hazrat Abbas (a.s.)

Text and Translation

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْكَ یَا اَبَی الْفَضْلِ الْعَبَّاسَ ابْنَ اَمِیْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ

alssalamu `alayka ya aba alfadli al`abbasa bna amiri almu'minina

Peace be upon you, O Abu al-Fadl al-`Abbas, son of the Commander of the Faithful,

السَّلاَمُ عَلَیْكَ یَابْنَ سَیِّدِ الْوَصِیِّیْنَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna sayyidi alwasiyyina

peace be upon you, O son of the master of the successors,

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَیْكَ یَابْنَ اَوَّلَ الْقَوْمِ اِسْلاَمًا

alssalamu `alayka yabna awwali alqawmi islaman

peace be upon you, O son of the first of the people to accept Islam,

وَاَقْدَمِهِمْ اِیْمَاناً

wa aqdamihim imanan

and the earliest of them in faith,

وَاَقْوَمِهِمْ بِدِیْنِ اللّٰهِ

wa aqwamihim bidini allahi

and the most steadfast of them in Allah’s religion,

وَاَحْوَطِهِمْ عَلَی الْاِسْلاَمِ

wa ahwatihim `ala al-islami

and the most protective of them of Islam.

اَشْهَدُ لَقَدْ نَصَحْتَ لِلّٰهِ وَلِرَسُوْلِهٖ وَلِاَخِیْكَ

ashhadu laqad nasahta lillahi wa lirasulihi wa li'akhika

I bear witness that you sincerely served Allah, His Messenger, and your brother –

فَنِعْمَ الْاَخُ الْمَوَاسِیْ

fani`ma al-akhu almuwasi

what an excellent, self-sacrificing brother!

فَلَعَنَ اللّٰهُ اُمَّۃً اِسْتَحَلَّتْ مِنْكَ الْمَحَارِمَ

fala`ana allahu ummatan istahallat minka almaharima

May Allah curse the nation that made lawful against you what is forbidden,

وَانْتَهَكَتْ حُرْمَۃَ الْاِسْلاَمِ

wantahakat hurmata al-islami

and violated the sanctity of Islam.

فَنِعْمَ الصَّابِرُ الْمُجَاهِدُ الْمُحَامِیْ النَّاصِرُ

fani`ma alssabiru almujahidu almuhami alnnasiru

What an excellent patient one, striver, defender, and helper you were!

وَالْاَخُ الدَّافِعُ عَنْ اَخِیْهِ الْمُجَیْبُ

wal-akhu alddafi`u `an akhihi

and the brother who defended his brother,

اِلیٰ طَاعَۃِ رَبِّهِ الرَّاغِبُ

almujibu ila ta`ati rabbihi

the one who responded in obedience to his Lord,

فِی مَا زَهِدَفِیْهِ غَیْرُهٗ مِنَ الثَّوَابَ الْجَزِیْلِ وَالثَّنَائِ الْجَمِیْلِ

alrraghibu fima zahida fihi ghayruhu mina alththawabi aljazili walththana'i aljamili

desirous of what others turned away from – abundant reward and beautiful praise.

وَاَلْحَقَكَ اللّٰهُ بَدَرَجَۃِ اٰبَائِكَ فِیْ جَنَّاتٍ النَّعِیْمِ۔

wa alhaqaka allahu bidarajati aba'ika fi jannati alna`imi

and may Allah join you to the rank of your forefathers in the Gardens of Bliss.
