Ziyarat of Janabe Sakina (s.a.)

Text and Translation

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحيمِ

bismi allahi alrrahmani alrrahimi

In the name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

اَلسَّلامُ عَلى آدَمَ صِفْوَةِ اللهِ،

alssalamu `ala adama sifwati allahi

Peace be upon Adam, the chosen one of Allah,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلى نُوح نَبِيِّ اللهِ،

alssalamu `ala nuhin nabiyyi allahi

peace be upon Nuh, the Prophet of Allah,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلى اِبْراهيمَ خَليِل اللهِ،

alssalamu `ala ibrahima khalili allahi

peace be upon Ibrahim, the intimate friend of Allah,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلى مُوسى كَليِم اللهِ،

alssalamu `ala musa kalimi allahi

peace be upon Musa, he who spoke with Allah,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلى عيسى رُوحِ اللهِ،

alssalamu `ala `isa ruhi allahi

peace be upon `Isa, the spirit of Allah,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا رَسُولَ اللهِ،

alssalamu `alayka ya rasula allahi

peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا خَيْرَ خَلْقِ اللهِ،

alssalamu `alayka ya khayra khalqi allahi

peace be upon you, O best of Allah’s creation,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا صَفِيَّ اللهِ،

alssalamu `alayka ya safiyya allahi

peace be upon you, O the chosen one of Allah,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ خاتَمَ النَّبِيّينَ،

alssalamu `alayka ya muhammada bna `abdi allahi khatama alnnabiyyina

peace be upon you, O Muhammad, son of `Abdullah, Seal of the Prophets,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا اَميرَ الْمُؤْمِنينَ عَلِيَّ بْنَ اَبي طالِب وَصِيَّ رَسُولِ اللهِ،

alssalamu `alayka ya amira almu'minina `aliyya bna abi talibin wasiyya rasuli allahi

peace be upon you, O Commander of the Faithful, `Ali the son of Abu Talib, successor of the Messenger of Allah,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا فاطِمَةُ سَيِّدَةَ نِساءِ اْلعالَمينَ،

alssalamu `alayki ya fatimatu sayyidata nisa'i al`alamina

peace be upon you, O Fatimah, mistress of the women of the worlds,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكُما يا سِبْطَيْ نَبِيِّ الرَّحْمَةِ وَسَيِّدَيْ شَبابِ اَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ،

alssalamu `alaykuma ya sibtay nabiyyi alrrahmati wa sayyiday shababi ahli aljannati

peace be upon you both, O the two grandsons of the Prophet of Mercy and the two masters of the youth of Paradise,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا عَلِيَّ بْنَ اْلحُسَيْنِ سَيِّدَ الْعابِدينَ وَقُرَّةَ عَيْنِ النّاظِرينَ،

alssalamu `alayka ya `aliyya bna alhusayni sayyida al`abidina wa qurrata `ayni alnnazirina

peace be upon you, O `Ali the son of al-Husain, master of the worshippers and the delight of those who behold him,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَلِيّ باقِرَ الْعِلْمِ بَعْدَ النَّبِيِّ،

alssalamu `alayka ya muhammada bna `aliyyin baqira al`ilmi ba`da alnnabiyyi

peace be upon you, O Muhammad the son of `Ali, discloser of knowledge after the Prophet,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا جَعْفَرَ بْنَ مُحَمَّد الصّادِقَ الْبارَّ الاَْمينَ،

alssalamu `alayka ya ja`fara bna muhammadin alssadiqa albarra al-amina

peace be upon you, O Ja`far the son of Muhammad, the truthful, the dutiful, the trustworthy,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا مُوسَى بْنَ جَعْفَر الطّاهِرَ الطُّهْرَ،

alssalamu `alayka ya musa bna ja`farin alttahira alttuhra

peace be upon you, O Musa the son of Ja`far, the pure, the immaculate,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا عَلِيَّ بْنَ مُوسَى الرِّضَا اْلمُرْتَضى،

alssalamu `alayka ya `aliyya bna musa alrrida almurtada

peace be upon you, O `Ali the son of Musa, al-Rida, the well-pleasing,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَلِيّ التَّقِيَّ،

alssalamu `alayka ya muhammada bna `aliyyin alttaqiyya

peace be upon you, O Muhammad the son of `Ali, the pious,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا عَلِيَّ بْنَ مُحَمَّد النَّقِيَّ النّاصِحَ الأَْمينَ،

alssalamu `alayka ya `aliyya bna muhammadin alnnaqiyya alnnasiha al-amina

peace be upon you, O `Ali the son of Muhammad, the pure, the sincere advisor, the trustworthy,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يا حَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيّ،

alssalamu `alayka ya hasana bna `aliyyin

peace be upon you, O al-Hasan the son of `Ali,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَى الْوَصِيِّ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ،

alssalamu `ala alwasiyyi min ba`dihi

peace be upon the successor after him.

اَلّلهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلى نُورِكَ وَسِراجِكَ وَوَلِيِّ وَلِيِّكَ،

allahumma salli `ala nurika wa sirajika wa waliyyi waliyyika

O Allah, send blessings upon Your light, Your lamp, and the guardian appointed by Your guardian,

وَوَصِيِّ وَصِيِّكَ،

wa wasiyyi wasiyyika

and the successor appointed by Your successor,

وَحُجَّتِكَ عَلى خَلْقِكَ،

wa hujjatika `ala khalqika

and Your Argument over Your creation.

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ رَسُولِ اللهِ،

alssalamu `alayki ya binta rasuli allahi

Peace be upon you, O daughter of the Messenger of Allah,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ فاطِمَةَ وَخَديجَةَ،

alssalamu `alayki ya binta fatimata wa khadijata

peace be upon you, O daughter of Fatimah and Khadijah,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ اَميرِ الْمُؤْمِنينَ،

alssalamu `alayki ya binta amiri almu'minina

peace be upon you, O daughter of the Commander of the Faithful,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا بِنْتَ وَلِيِّ اللهِ،

alssalamu `alayki ya binta waliyyi allahi

peace be upon you, O daughter of the intimate friend of Allah,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا اُخْتَ وَلِيِّ اللهِ،

alssalamu `alayki ya ukhta waliyyi allahi

peace be upon you, O sister of the intimate friend of Allah,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا عَمَّةَ وَلِيِّ اللهِ،

alssalamu `alayki ya `ammata waliyyi allahi

peace be upon you, O paternal aunt of the intimate friend of Allah,

الَسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا رُقَيَّةَُ بِنْتَ اْلحُسَيْنِ الشَّهيدِ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكاتُهُ،

alssalamu `alayki ya ruqayyata binta alhusayni alshshahidi wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu

peace be upon you, O Ruqayyah, daughter of al-Husain the martyr, and Allah’s mercy and blessings,

الَسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ اَيَّتُهَا الصَّغيرَةُ الشَّهيدَةُ،

alssalamu `alayki ayyatuha alssaghiratu alshshahidatu

peace be upon you, O the little martyred girl,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ اَيَّتُهَا الْمَقْهُورَةُ الْمَظْلُومَةُ،

alssalamu `alayki ayyatuha almaqhuratu almazlumatu

peace be upon you, O the overpowered, wronged one,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ اَيَّتُهَا الْفاضِلَةُ الْرَّشيدَةُ،

alssalamu `alayki ayyatuha alfadilatu alrrashidatu

peace be upon you, O the virtuous, rightly-guided one,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ اَيَّتُهَا الْجَليلَةُ الْجَميلَةُ،

alssalamu `alayki ayyatuha aljalilatu aljamilatu

peace be upon you, O the noble, the beautiful one,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ اَيَّتُهَا الْبَعيدَةُ عَنِ الأَْوْطانِ،

alssalamu `alayki ayyatuha alba`idatu `ani al-awtani

peace be upon you, O the one kept far from her homeland,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ اَيَّتُهَا الأَْسيرَةُ فِى الْبُلْدانِ،

alssalamu `alayki ayyatuha al-asiratu fi albuldani

peace be upon you, O the one held captive across the lands,

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ يا مَوْلاتي وَابْنَةَ مَوْلايَ،

alssalamu `alayki ya mawlati wabnata mawlaya

peace be upon you, O my mistress and daughter of my master,

وَسَيِّدَتي وَابْنَةَ سَيِّدي وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكاتُهُ،

wa sayyidati wabnata sayyidi wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu

and my lady and daughter of my lord, and Allah’s mercy and blessings.

فَلَعَنَ اللهُ مَنْ جَحَدَكِ،

fala`ana allahu man jahadaki

May Allah curse whoever denied you your right,

وَلَعَنَ اللهُ مَنْ ظَلَمَكِ،

wala`ana allahu man zalamaki

and may Allah curse whoever wronged you,

وَلَعَنَ اللهُ مَنْ ضَرَبَكِ،

wala`ana allahu man darabaki

and may Allah curse whoever struck you,

وَلَعَنَ اللهُ مَنْ لَمْ يَعْرِفْ حَقَّكِ،

wala`ana allahu man lam ya`rif haqqaki

and may Allah curse whoever did not recognize your right,

وَلَعَنَ اللهُ اَعْداءَ آلِ مُحَمَّد،

wala`ana allahu a`da'a ali muhammadin

and may Allah curse the enemies of the Household of Muhammad,

مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالاِْنْسِ،

mina aljinni wal-insi

from among the jinn and mankind,

مِنَ الأَْوَّلينَ وَالاْخِرينَ،

mina al-awwalina wal-akhirina

from the first generations and the last,

وَضاعَفَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْعَذابَ الأَْليمَ،

wa da`afa `alayhimu al`adhaba al-alima

and may He double the painful torment upon them.

اَتَيْتُكِ يا مَوْلاتي وَابْنَةَ مَوْلايَ،

ataytuki ya mawlati wabnata mawlaya

I have come to you, O my mistress and daughter of my master,

قاصِداً وافِداً عارِفاً بِحَقِّكِ،

qasidan wafidan `arifan bihaqqiki

intending, arriving, knowing your right.

اَلسَّلامُ عَلَيْكِ عَرَّفَ اللهُ بَيْنَنا وَبَيْنَكُمْ فِى الْجَنَّةِ،

alssalamu `alayki `arrafa allahu baynana wa baynakum fi aljannati

Peace be upon you; may Allah make us known to you in Paradise,

وَحَشَرَنا في زُمْرَتِكُمْ،

wa hasharana fi zumratikum

and gather us in your company,

وَاَوْرَدَنا حَوْضَ نَبيِّكُمْ،

wa awradana hawda nabiyyikum

and bring us to the pool of your Prophet,

وَسَقانا بِكَاْسِ جَدِّكُمْ مِنْ يَدِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ اَبي طالِب صَلَواتُ اللهِ عَلَيْكُمْ،

wa saqana bika'si jaddikum min yadi `aliyyi bni abi talibin salawatu allahi `alaykum

and give us to drink from the cup of your grandfather, by the hand of `Ali the son of Abu Talib – Allah’s blessings be upon you all.

اَسْئَلُ اللهَ اَنْ يُرِيَنا فيكُمُ السّرُوُرَ وَالْفَرَجَ،

as'alu allaha an yuriyana fikumu alssurura walfaraja

I ask Allah to show us, through you, joy and relief,

وَاَنْ يَجْمَعَنا وَاِيّاكُمْ في زُمْرَةِ جَدِّكُمْ مُحَمَّد صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ،

wa an yajma`ana wa iyyakum fi zumrati jaddikum muhammadin salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi

and to gather us together with you in the company of your grandfather Muhammad, may Allah’s blessings be upon him and his family,

وَاَنْ لا يَسْلُبَنا مَعْرِفَتَكُمْ اِنَّهُ وَلِيٌّ قَديرٌ،

wa an la yaslubana ma`rifatakum innahu waliyyun qadirun

and not to strip us of our recognition of you; indeed He is a capable Guardian.

اَتَقَرَّبُ اِلىَ اللهِ بِحُبِّكُمْ،

ataqarrabu ila allahi bihubbikum

I seek nearness to Allah through love of you,

وَالْبَرائَةِ مِنْ اَعْدائِكُمْ،

walbara'ati min a`da'ikum

and through disavowal of your enemies,

وَالتَّسْليمِ اِلَى اللهِ،

walttaslimi ila allahi

and through submission to Allah,

راضِياً بِهِ غَيْرَ مُنْكِر وَلا مُسْتَكْبِر،

radiyan bihi ghayra munkirin wa la mustakbirin

content with Him, neither denying nor arrogant,

وَعَلى يَقينِ ما اَتى بِهِ مُحَمَّدٌ،

wa `ala yaqinin ma ata bihi muhammadun

and with certainty in what Muhammad brought,

وَبِهِ راض نَطْلُبُ بِذلِكَ وَجْهَكَ يا سَيِّدى،

wa bihi radin natlubu bidhalika wajhaka ya sayyidi

and pleased with it; by this we seek Your countenance, O my Lord.

اَللّهُمَّ وَرِضاكَ وَالدّارَ الاْخِرَةَ يا رُقَيَّةُ اشْفَعي لي فِى الْجَنَّةِ،

allahumma wa ridaka waldddara al-akhirata ya ruqayyatu ashfa`i li fi aljannati

O Allah, (we also seek) Your good pleasure and the Abode of the Hereafter. O Ruqayyah, intercede for me for Paradise,

فَاِنَّ لَكِ عِنْدَ اللهِ شَاْناً مِنَ الشَّاْنِ،

fa'inna laki `inda allahi sha'nan mina alshsha'ni

for indeed you have, with Allah, a great standing.

اَللّهُمَّ اِنّى اَسْئَلُكَ اَنْ تَخْتِمَ لى بِالسَّعادَةِ،

allahumma inni as'aluka an takhtima li bilssa`adati

O Allah, I ask You to seal my life with happiness,

فَلا تَسْلُبْ مِّنى ما اَنَا فيهِ،

fala taslub minni ma ana fihi

so do not strip from me what I am in,

وَلا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ اِلاّ بِاللهِ الْعَلِىِّ الْعَظيمِ،

wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahi al`aliyyi al`azimi

and there is no power and no strength except by Allah, the Exalted, the Magnificent.

اَللّهُمَّ اسْتَجِبْ لَنا وَتَقَبَّلْهُ بِكَرَمِكَ وَعِزَّتِكَ،

allahumma istajib lana wa taqabbalhu bikaramika wa `izzatika

O Allah, answer us, and accept this by Your generosity and Your might,

وَبِرَحْمَتِكَ وَعافِيَتِكَ،

wa birahmatika wa `afiyatika

and by Your mercy and Your grace,

وَصَلَّى اللهُ عَلى مُحَمَّد وَآلِهِ اَجْمَعينَ،

wa salla allahu `ala muhammadin wa alihi ajma`ina

and may Allah send blessings upon Muhammad and all of his family,

وَسَّلَمَ تَسْليماً يا اَرْحَمَ الرّاحِمينَ.

wa sallama tasliman ya arhama alrrahimina

and grant abundant peace, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
