Ziyarat e Taziyah Condolence to Holy Prophet (s) and His Immaculate progeny

Text and Translation

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

BISMILLAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ اٰدَمَ صِفْوَةِ اللّٰهِ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA YAA WAARITHA AADAMA SIFWATILLAAH

Peace be on you, O inheritor of Adam, the select of Allah!

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ نُوْحٍ نَّبِيِّ اللّٰهِ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA YAA WAARITHA NOOHIN NABIYYILLAAH

Peace be on you, O inheritor of Noah, the prophet of Allah!

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ اِبْرَاهِيْمَ خَلِيْلِ اللّٰهِ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA YAA WAARITHA IBRAAHEEMA KHALEELILLAAH

Peace be on you, O inheritor of Abraham, the intimate friend of Allah!

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ مُوْسٰى كَلِيْمِ اللّٰهِ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA YAA WAARITHA MOOSAA KALEEMILLAAH

Peace be on you, O inheritor of Moses, who received direct communication from Allah!

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ عِيْسٰى رُوْحِ اللّٰهِ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA YAA WAARITHA EESAA ROOHILLAAH

Peace be on you, O inheritor of Jesus, the Spirit of Allah!

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ مُحَمَّدٍ حَبِيْبِ اللّٰهِ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA YAA WAARITHA MUHAMMADIN HABEEBILLAAH

Peace be on you, O inheritor of Muhammad, the most beloved by Allah!

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ عَلِيٍّ اَمِيْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَلِيِّ اللّٰهِ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA YAA WAARITHA A'LIYYIN AMEERIL MOO'MINEENA WALIYYILLAAH

Peace be on you, O inheritor of Ali, the Commander of the Believers and the intimate servant of Allah!

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ الْحَسَنِ الشَّهِيْدِ سِبْطِ رَسُوْلِ اللّٰهِ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA YAA WAARITHAL HASANISH SHAHEEDI SIBTI RASOOLILLAAH

Peace be on you, O inheritor of al-Hasan, the martyr and grandson of Allah's Messenger!

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنَ رَسُوْلِ اللّٰهِ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA YABNA RASOOLILLAAH

Peace be on you, O son of Allah's Messenger!

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنَ بَشِيْرِ النَّذِيْرِ وَ ابْنَ سَيِّدِ الْوَصِيِّيْنَ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA YABNA BASHEERIN NAZEERI WABNA SAYYIDIL WASIYYEEN

Peace be on you, O son of the bringer of glad tidings and the warner and son of the chief of the prophets' successors!

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنَ فَاطِمَةَ سَيِّدَةِ نِسَآءِ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA YABNA FAATIMATA SAYYIDATI NISAAA'IL A'ALAMEEN

Peace be on you, O son of Fatimah, the doyenne of the women of the world!

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا اَبَا عَبْدِ اللّٰهِ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA YAA ABAA A'BDILLAAH

Peace be on you, O Abu-Abdullah!

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خِيَرَةَ اللّٰهِ وَ ابْنَ خِيَرَتِهٖ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA YAA KHIYARATALLAAHI WABNA KHIYARATIH

Peace be on you, O select of Allah and the son of His select ones!

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ثَارَ اللّٰهِ وَ ابْنَ ثَارِهٖ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA YAA THAARALLAAHI WABNA THAARIH

Peace be on you, O revenge of Allah and the son of His revenge!

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الْوِتْرُ الْمَوْتُوْرُ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA AYYUHAL WITRUL MAWTOOR

Peace be on you, O unique (in suffering tribulations) and the oppressed!

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ اَيُّهَا الْاِمَامُ الْهَادِي الزَّكِيُّ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA AYYUHAL IMAAMUL HAADIZ ZAKIYY

Peace be on you, O guide, pure leader!

وَ عَلٰى اَرْوَاحٍ حَلَّتْ بِفِنَآئِكَ وَ اَقَامَتْ فِيْ جِوَارِكَ وَ وَفَدَتْ مَعَ زُوَّارِكَ

WA A'LAA ARWAAHIN HALLAT BI-FINAAA'IKA WA AQAAMAT FEE JIWAARIKA WA WAFADAT MA'A ZUWWAARIK

and on the souls of those who presented themselves in your camp, resided in your vicinity, and came with your visitors.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ مِنِّيْ مَا بَقِيْتُ وَ بَقِيَ اللَّيْلُ وَ النَّهَارُ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA MINNEE MAA BAQEETU WA BAQIYAL LAYLU WAN NAHAAR

(Incessant) peace be upon you, from me, as long as I am alive and as long as there are day and night.

فَلَقَدْ عَظُمَتْ بِكَ الرَّزِيَّةُ وَ جَلَّ الْمُصَابُ فِي الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ وَ الْمُسْلِمِيْنَ وَ فِيْ اَهْلِ السَّمَاوَاتِ اَجْمَعِيْنَ وَ فِيْ سُكَّانِ الْاَرَضِيْنَ

FALAQAD A'ZUMAT BIKAR RAZIYYATU WA JALLAL MUSAABU FIL MOO'MINEENA WAL MUSLIMEENA WA FEE AHLIS SAMAAWAATI AJMA'EENA WA FEE SUKKAANIL ARADEEN

Verily, astounding has been the calamity for us and unbearable has been the adversity for the believers, Muslims, for all the inhabitants of the heavens, and for the inhabitants of the layers of the earth.

فَاِنَّا لِلّٰهِ وَ اِنَّآ اِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُوْنَ

FA-INNAA LILLAAHI WA INNAA ILAYHI RAAJI'OON

So, we are Allah's and verily unto Him we return.

وَ صَلَوَاتُ اللّٰهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهٗ وَ تَحِيَّاتُهٗ عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلٰٓى اٰبَآئِكَ الطَّاهِرِيْنَ الطَّيِّبِيْنَ الْمُنْتَجَبِيْنَ وَ عَلٰى ذَرَارِيْهِمُ الْهُدَاةِ الْمَهْدِيِّيْنَ

WA SALAWAATULLAAHI WA BARAKAATUHU WA TAHIYYAATUHU A'LAYKA WA A'LAA AABAAA'IKAT TAAHIREENAT TAYYIBEENAL MUNTAJABEEN WA A'LAA DHARAARAYHIMUL HUDAATIL MAHDIYYEEN

And Allah's peace, blessings, and benedictions be upon you, upon your forefathers; the pure, the pious, and the elite, and upon their offspring; the guides and well-guided.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ وَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَ عَلٰى رُوْحِكَ وَ عَلٰٓى اَرْوَاحِهِمْ وَ عَلٰى تُرْبَتِكَ وَ عَلٰى تُرْبَتِهِمْ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA YAA MAWLAAYA WA A'LAYHIM WA A'LAA ROOHIKA WA A'LAA ARWAAHIHIM WA A'LAA TURBATIKA WA A'LAA TURBATIHIM

Peace be upon you O my master, upon them, upon your soul, upon their souls, upon the soil in which you are buried, and upon the soil in which they are buried.

اَللّٰهُمَّ لَقِّهِمْ رَحْمَةً وَّ رِضْوَانًا وَّ رَوْحًا وَّ رَيْحَانًا

ALLAAHUMMA LAQQIHIM RAHMATAN WA RIDWAANAN WA RAWHAN WA RAYHAANAA

O Allah, shed over them mercy, pleasure (of You), happiness, and bounty.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ يَا اَبَا عَبْدِ اللّٰهِ يَا ابْنَ خَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّيْنَ وَ يَا ابْنَ سَيِّدِ الْوَصِيِّيْنَ وَ يَا ابْنَ سَيِّدَةِ نِسَآءِ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA YAA MAWLAAYA YAA ABAA A'BDILLAAHI YABNA KHAATAMIN NABIYYEENA WA YABNA SAYYIDIL WASIYYEENA WA YABNA SAYYIDATI NISAAA'IL A'ALAMEEN

Peace be upon you, my master Abu-Abdullah; O Son of the Seal of the Prophets, son of the Chief of the Prophets' successors, and son of the doyenne of the women of the world.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا شَهِيْدُ يَا ابْنَ الشَّهِيْدِ يَا اَخَا الشَّهِيْدِ يَا اَبَا الشُّهَدَآءِ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA YAA SHAHEEDU YABNASH SHAHEEDI YAA AKHASH SHAHEEDI YAA ABASH SHUHADAAA'

Peace be upon you, O martyr, son of the martyr, brother of the martyr, and father of the martyrs.

اَللّٰهُمَّ بَلِّغْهُ عَنِّيْ فِيْ هٰذِهِ السَّاعَةِ وَ فِيْ هٰذَا الْيَوْمِ وَ فِيْ هٰذَا الْوَقْتِ وَ فِيْ كُلِّ وَقْتٍ تَحِيَّةً كَثِيْرَةً وَّ سَلَامًا

ALLAAHUMMA BALLIGH-HU A'NNEE FEE HAADHIHIS SAA'ATI WA FEE HAADHAL YAWMI WA FEE HAADHAL WAQTI WA FEE KULLI WAQTIN TAHIYYATAN KATHEERATAN WA SALAAMAA

O Allah, convey to him on behalf of me at this hour, on this day, at this moment, and at all time abundant greetings and salutations.

سَلَامُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْكَ وَ رَحْمَةُ اللّٰهِ وَ بَرَكَاتُهٗ يَا ابْنَ سَيِّدِ الْعَالَمِيْنَ وَ عَلَى الْمُسْتَشْهَدِيْنَ مَعَكَ سَلَامًا مُتَّصِلًا مَا اتَّصَلَ اللَّيْلُ وَ النَّهَارُ

SALAAMULLAAHI A'LAYKA WA RAHMATULLAAHI WA BARAKAATUHU YABNA SAYYIDIL A'ALAMEEN WA A'LAL MUSTASH-HADEENA MA'AKA SALAAMAN MUTTASILAM MAT-TASALAL LAYLU WAN NAHAAR

Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you, O son of the master of the nations, and upon those who were martyred with you by such incessant greetings that endure as long as there are day and night.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَى الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الشَّهِيْدِ

ASSALAAMU A'LAL HUSAYNIBNI A'LIYYINISH SHAHEED

Peace be upon al-Husayn, the son of Ali, the martyr.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ الشَّهِيْدِ

ASSALAAMU A'LAA A'LIYYIBNIL HUSAYNISH SHAHEED

Peace be upon Ali, the son of al-Husayn, the martyr.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَى الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ اَمِيْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ الشَّهِيْدِ

ASSALAAMU A'LAL A'BBAASIBNI AMEERIL MOO'MINEENASH SHAHEED

Peace be upon al-Abbas, the son of the Commander of the Believers, the martyr.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَى الشُّهَدَآءِ مِنْ وُلْدِ اَمِيْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ

ASSALAAMU A'LASH SHUHADAAA'I MIN WULDI AMEERIL MOO'MINEEN

Peace be upon the martyrs from among the descendants of the Commander of the Believers.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَى الشُّهَدَآءِ مِنْ وُلْدِ الْحَسَنِ

ASSALAAMU A'LASH SHUHADAAA'I MIN WULDIL HASAN

Peace be upon the martyrs from among the descendants of al-Hasan.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَى الشُّهَدَآءِ مِنْ وُلْدِ الْحُسَيْنِ

ASSALAAMU A'LASH SHUHADAAA'I MIN WULDIL HUSAYN

Peace be upon the martyrs from among the descendants of al-Husayn.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَى الشُّهَدَآءِ مِنْ وُلْدِ جَعْفَرٍ وَّ عَقِيْلٍ

ASSALAAMU A'LASH SHUHADAAA'I MIN WULDI JA'FARIN WA A'QEEL

Peace be upon the martyrs from among the descendants of Ja'far and Aqil.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلٰى كُلِّ مُسْتَشْهَدٍ مَّعَهُمْ مِّنَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ

ASSALAAMU A'LAA KULLI MUSTASH-HADIM MA'AHUM MINAL MOO'MINEEN

Peace be upon all the believers who were martyred with them.

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ بَلِّغْهُمْ عَنِّيْ تَحِيَّةً كَثِيْرَةً وَّ سَلَامًا

ALLAAHUMMA SALLI A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALI MUHAMMADIN WA BALLIGH-HUM A'NNEE TAHIYYATAN KATHEERATAN WA SALAAMAA

O Allah, send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad and convey to them abundant greetings and salutations on behalf of me.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُوْلَ اللّٰهِ اَحْسَنَ اللّٰهُ لَكَ الْعَزَآءَ فِيْ وَلَدِكَ الْحُسَيْنِ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA YAA RASOOLALLAAHI AHSANALLAAHU LAKAL A'ZAAA'A FEE WALADIKAL HUSAYN

Peace be upon you, O Allah's Messenger! May Allah confer upon you excellent consolation concerning the tragedy of al-Husayn, your son.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكِ يَا فَاطِمَةُ اَحْسَنَ اللّٰهُ لَكِ الْعَزَآءَ فِيْ وَلَدِكِ الْحُسَيْنِ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKI YAA FAATIMATU AHSANALLAAHU LAKIL A'ZAAA'A FEE WALADIKIL HUSAYN

Peace be upon you, O Fatimah! May Allah confer upon you excellent consolation concerning the tragedy of al-Husayn, your son.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا اَمِيْرَ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ اَحْسَنَ اللّٰهُ لَكَ الْعَزَآءَ فِيْ وَلَدِكَ الْحُسَيْنِ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA YAA AMEERAL MOO'MINEENA AHSANALLAAHU LAKAL A'ZAAA'A FEE WALADIKAL HUSAYN

Peace be upon you, O Commander of the Believers! May Allah confer upon you excellent consolation concerning the tragedy of al-Husayn, your son.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا اَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَسَنَ اَحْسَنَ اللّٰهُ لَكَ الْعَزَآءَ فِيْ اَخِيْكَ الْحُسَيْنِ

ASSALAAMU A'LAYKA YAA ABAA MUHAMMADINIL HASANA AHSANALLAAHU LAKAL A'ZAAA'A FEE AKHEEKAL HUSAYN

Peace be upon you, Abu-Muhammad al-Hasan! May Allah confer upon you excellent consolation concerning the tragedy of al-Husayn, your brother.

يَا مَوْلَايَ يَا اَبَا عَبْدِ اللّٰهِ اَنَا ضَيْفُ اللّٰهِ وَ ضَيْفُكَ وَ جَارُ اللّٰهِ وَ جَارُكَ

YAA MAWLAAYA YAA ABAA A'BDILLAAHI ANAA DAYFULLAAHI WA DAYFUKA WA JAARULLAAHI WA JAARUK

O my master, Abu-Abdullah! I am now Allah's and your guest and Allah's and your neighbor!

وَ لِكُلِّ ضَيْفٍ وَّ جَارٍ قِرًى وَّ قِرَايَ فِيْ هٰذَا الْوَقْتِ اَنْ تَسْاَلَ اللّٰهَ سُبْحَانَهٗ وَ تَعَالٰى اَنْ يَّرْزُقَنِيْ فَكَاكَ رَقَبَتِيْ مِنَ النَّارِ اِنَّهٗ سَمِيْعُ الدُّعَآءِ قَرِيْبٌ مُّجِيْبٌ

WA LIKULLI DAYFIN WA JAARIN QIRAN WA QIRAAYA FEE HAADHAL WAQTI AN TAS'ALALLAAHA SUBHAANAHU WA TA'AALAA AN YARZUQANEE FAKAAKA RAQABATEE MINAN NAARI INNAHU SAMEE'UD DU'AAA'I QAREEBUM MUJEEB

Each guest and neighbor must receive hospitality! My hospitality at this time is that you may beseech Almighty Allah to release me from Hellfire. Verily, He is Hearer of prayers, Nigh, and Responsive.
