al-Isteghasa الکامل التام

Text and Translation

In his book of al-Kalim al-Tayyib, Sayyid Ali Khan says, “The following is a form of seeking aid from Imam-e-Zamana (a.t.f.s.): Wherever you are, you may offer a two-unit prayer, reading [Surah al-Faatehah](A5) and any other one in each unit. Yet, it is advisable to read [Surah al-Fath](A52) (No. 48) in the first unit and [Surah al-Nasr](A114) (No. 110) in the second.

You may stand up, facing the qiblah under the sky and then say the following:

سَلَامُ اللهِ الْكَامِلُ التَّامُّ الشَّامِلُ الْعَآمُّ

SALAAMUL LAAHIL KAAMELUT TAAM-MUSH SHAAMELUL A'AAM-MO

The most perfect, complete, all-embracing and general salutations

وَصَلَوَاتُهُ الدَّآئِمَةُ

WA SALAWAATOHUD DAAA-EMATO

and His continuous blessings

وَبَرَكَاتُهُ الْقَآئِمَةُ التَّآمَّةُ

WA BARAKAATOHUL QAAA-EMATUT TAAAM-MATO

and His established and all-encompassing grace

عَلٰى حُجَّةِ اللهِ

A’LAA HUJJATIL LAAHE

be upon the Proof of Allah

وَوَلِيِّهٖ فِىْ اَرْضِهٖ وَبِلَادِهٖ

WA WALIYYEHI FEE ARZEHI WA BELAADEHI

and His vicegerent in His earth and His cities

وَخَلِيْفَتِهٖ عَلٰى خَلْقِهٖ وَعِبَادِهٖ

WA KHALEEFATEHI A’LAA KHALQEHI WA E’BAADEHI

and His caliph upon His creation and His servants

وَسُلَالَةِ النُّبُوَّةِ

WA SOLAALATIN NOBUWWATE

and the descendant of Prophethood

وَبَقِيَّةِ الْعِتْرَةِ وَالصَّفْوَةِ

WA BAQIYYATIL I’TRATE WAS-SAFWATE

and the remnant of the lineage and the chosen one of Allah,

صَاحِبِ الزَّمَانِ

SAAHEBIZ ZAMAANE

the Master of the time

وَمُظْهِرِ الْاِيْمَانِ

WA MUZHERIL EEMAANE

and the manifestation of faith

وَمُلَقِّنِ اَحْكَامِ الْقُرْآنِ

WA MOLAQQENE AHKAAMIL QUR-AAANE

and the one who emphasises the rules of Quran

وَمُطَهِّرِ الْاَرْضِ

WA MOTAHHERIL ARZE

and the purifier of the earth

وَنَاشِرِ الْعَدْلِ فِىْ الطُّوْلِ وَالْعَرْضِ

WA NAASHERIL A’DLE FIT TOOLE WAL A’RZE

and the spreader of justice across the length and the breadth (of the earth),

وَالْحُجَّةِ الْقَآئِمِ الْمَهْدِىِّ

WAL HUJJATIL QAAA-EMIL MAHDIYYE

and the Proof, the upright,

اَلْاِمَامِ الْمُنْتَظَرِ الْمَرْضِىِّ

AL EMAAMIL MUNTAZARIL MARZIYYE

the awaited, the contended

وَابْنِ الْاَئِمَّةِ الطَّاهِرِيْنَ

WABNIL A-IMMATIT TAAHEREENA

and the son of the purified leaders

اَلْوَصِىِّ بْنِ الْاَوْصِيَآءِ الْمَرْضِيِّيْنَ

AL WASIYYIBNIL AWSE-YAAA-IL MARZIYYEENA

and the vicegerent son of the happy vicegerents,

اَلْهَادِىْ الْمَعْصُوْمِ ابْنِ الْاَئِمَّةِ الْهُدَاةِ الْمَعْصُوْمِيْنَ

AL HAADIL MA’SOOMIBNIL A’IMMATIL HODAATIL MA’SOOMEENA

the infallible and guided son of guided leaders.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مُعِزَّ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ الْمُسْتَضْعَفِيْنَ

ASSALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA MO-I’ZZAL MO’MENEENAL MUSTAZ-A’FEENA

Peace be on you, O the giver of honour to the believers and the weakened ones.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مُذِلَّ الْكَافِرِيْنَ الْمُتَكَبِّرِيْنَ الظَّالِمِيْنَ

ASSALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA MOZILLAL KAAFEREENAL MOTAKABBEREENAZ ZAALEMEENA

Peace be on you, O the degrader of the disbelievers and the arrogant and the oppressors.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَاىَ يَا صَاحِبَ الزَّمَانِ

ASSALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA MAWLAAYA YAA SAAHEBAZ ZAMAANE

Peace be on you, O my master, O the master of the time.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَابْنَ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ

ASSALAAMO A’LAYKA YABNA RASOOLIL LAAHE

Peace be on you, O the son of the Apostle of Allah,

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَابْنَ اَمِيْرِ الْمُؤْمِنِيْنَ

ASSALAAMO A’LAYKA YABNA AMEERIL MOMINEENA

Peace be on you, O the son of the commander of the faithful,

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ فَاطِمَةَ الزَّهْرَآءِ

ASSALAAMO A’LAYKA YABNA FAATEMATAZ ZAHRAAA-E

Peace be on you, O the son of the Fatima Zahra,

سَيِّدَةِ نِسَآءِ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

SAYYEDATE NESAAA-IL A’ALAMEENA

the leader of the women of Paradise.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ الْاَئِمَّةِ الْحُجَجِ الْمَعْصُوْمِيْنَ

ASSALAAMO A’LAYKA YABNAL A-IMMATIL HUJAJIL MA’SOOMEENA

Peace be on you, O the son of the infallible proofs

وَالْاِمَامِ عَلَى الْخَلْقِ اَجْمَعِيْنَ

WAL EMAAME A’LAL KHALQE AJMA-E’ENA

and the leader upon the entire creation.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلَاىَ

ASSALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA MAWLAAYA

Peace be on you, O my master,

سَلَامَ مُخْلِصٍ لَكَ فِى الْوِلَايَةِ

SALAAMA MUKHLESAN LAKA FIL WELAAYATE

the salutation of one who is sincere in his friendship with you.

اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ الْاِمَامُ الْمَهْدِىُّ قَوْلًا وَفِعْلًا

ASH-HADO ANNAKAL EMAAMUL MAHDIYYO QAWLAN WA FEA’LAN

I bear witness that you are the guided leader in word and deed

وَاَنْتَ الَّذِىْ تَمْلَاُ الْاَرْضَ قِسْطًا وَعَدْلًا

WA ANTAL LAZEE TAM-LA-UL ARZA QISTAN WA A’DLAN

and that you will fill the earth with peace and equity

بَعْدَ مَا مُلِئَتْ ظُلْمًا وَجَوْرًا

BA’DA MAA MOLE-AT ZULMAN WA JAWRAN

after it has been filled with justice and oppression.

فَعَجَّلَ اللهُ فَرَجَكَ

FA-A’JJALAL LAAHO FARAJAKA

Then, may Allah hasten your reappearance

وَسَهَّلَ مَخْرَجَكَ

WA SAH-HALA MAKHRAJAKA

and make easy your uprising

وَقَرَّبَ زَمَانَكَ

WA QARRABA ZAMAANAK

and make near your era

وَكَثَّرَ اَنْصَارَكَ وَاَعْوَانَكَ

WA KASSARA ANSAARAKA WA A-A’WAANAKA

and augment your friends and aides

وَاَنْجَزَ لَكَ مَا وَعَدَكَ

WA ANJAZA LAKA MAA WA-A’DAKA

and fulfill for you all that He has promised you,

فَهُوَ اَصْدَقُ الْقَآئِلِيْنَ

FAHOWA ASDAQUL QAAA-ELEENA

then surely He is the most truthful (when He says)

وَنُرِيْدُ اَنْ نَمُنَّ عَلَى الَّذِيْنَ اسْتُضْعِفُوْا فِى الْاَرْضِ

WA NOREEDO AN NAMUNNA A’LAL LAZEENAS TUZ-E’FOO FIL ARZE

“And surely We intend to favour those who were deemed weak in the land

وَنَجْعَلَهُمْ اَئِمَّةً وَّنَجْعَلَهُمُ الْوَارِثِيْنَ

WA NAJ-A’LAHUM A-IMMATAN WA NAJ-A’LAHOMUL WAARESEENA

and to make them the leaders and to make them the inheritors.”

يَا مَوْلَاىَ يَا صَاحِبَ الزَّمَانِ

YAA MAWLAAYA YAA SAAHEBAZ ZAMAANE

O my master, on the master of the age,

يَا بْنَ رَسُوْلِ اللهِ حَاجَتِىْ

YABNA RASOOLIL LAAHE HAAJATEE

O the son of the Apostle of Allah, my needs are.

Pray for your needs and then say:

فَاشْفَعْ لِىْ فِىْ نَجَاحِهَا

FASH-FA' LEE FEE NAJAAHEHA

Then intercede for me for their fulfillment,

فَقَدْ تَوَجَّهْتُ اِلَيْكَ بِحَاجَتِىْ

FAQAD TAWAJJAHTO ELAYKA BE-HAAJATEE

for surely I have turned do you with my needs

لِعِلْمِىْ اَنَّ لَكَ عِنْدَ اللهِ شَفَاعَةً مَقْبُوْلَةً

LE-I'LMEE ANNA LAKA I'NDALLAAHE SHAFAA-A'TAN MAQBOOLATAN

because I know that before Allah your intercession is accepted in

وَمَقَامًا مَحْمُوْدًا

WA MAQAAMAN MAHMOODAN

and you possess a praiseworthy station near Allah.

فَبِحَقِّ مَنِ اخْتَصَّكُمْ بِاَمْرِهٖ وَارْتَضَاكُمْ لِسِرِّهٖ

FA-BEHAQQE MANIKH TASSAKUM BE-AMREHI WAR TAZAAKUM LE-SIRREHI

Then for the sake of the One who has chosen you for His affair and His secrets

وَبِالشَّانِ الَّذِىْ لَكُمْ عِنْدَ اللهِ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهٗ

WA BISH-SHANIL LAZEE LAKUM I'NDAL LAAHE BAYNAKUM WA BAYNAHU

and by the position which you enjoy near Allah,

سَلِ اللهَ تَعَالٰى فِىْ نُجَحِ طَلِبَتِىْ

SALIL LAAHA TA-A'ALAA FEE NOJAHE TALEBATEE

please implore Allah for the success in my endeavour

وَاِجَابَةِ دَعْوَتِىْ

WA EJAABATE DA'WATEE

and the fulfillment of my prayers

وَكَشْفِ كُرْبَتِىْ

WA KASHFE KURBATEE

and the removal of my troubles.

You may then ask for whatever you want, and it will be settled for you, by Allah’s permission.
