اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مَوْلاَيَ

alssalamu `alayka ya mawlaya

Peace be upon you, O my Master

يَا ابَا مُحَمَّدٍ ٱلْحَسَنُ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ

ya aba muhammadin alhasanu bna `aliyyin

Abu-Muhammad al-Hasan the son of `Ali,

ٱلْهَادِيَ ٱلْمُهْتَدِي

alhadi almuhtadi

the guide and well-guided.

وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu

Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَلِيَّ ٱللَّهِ وَٱبْنَ اوْلِيَائِهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya waliyya allahi wabna awliya'ihi

Peace be upon you, O Allah’s intimate servant and son of Allah’s intimate servants.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حُجَّةَ ٱللَّهِ وَٱبْنَ حُجَجِهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya hujjata allahi wabna hujajihi

Peace be upon you, O Allah’s decisive Argument and son of Allah’s decisive Arguments.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا صَفِيَّ ٱللَّهِ وَٱبْنَ اصْفِيَائِهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya safiyya allahi wabna asfiya'ihi

Peace be upon you, O Allah’s elite and son of Allah’s elite ones.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خَلِيفَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَٱبْنَ خُلَفَائِهِ وَابَا خَلِيفَتِهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya khalifata allahi wabna khulafa'ihi wa aba khalifatihi

Peace be upon you, O Allah’s representative, son of Allah’s representatives, and father of His representative.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ خَاتَمِ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna khatami alnnabiyyina

Peace be upon you, O son of the Seal of the Prophets.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ سَيِّدِ ٱلْوَصِيِّينَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna sayyidi alwasiyyina

Peace be upon you, O son of the chief of the Prophets’ successors.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ امِيرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna amiri almu'minina

Peace be upon you, O son of the Commander of the Faithful.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ سَيِّدَةِ نِسَاءِ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna sayyidati nisa'i al`alamina

Peace be upon you, O son of the doyenne of all women of the world.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ ٱلائِمَّةِ ٱلْهَادِينَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna al-a'immati alhadina

Peace be upon you, O son of the guiding leaders.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا بْنَ ٱلاوْصِيَاءِ ٱلرَّاشِدِينَ

alssalamu `alayka yabna al-awsiya'i alrrashidina

Peace be upon you, O son of the orthodox successors (of the Prophets.)

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا عِصْمَةَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

alssalamu `alayka ya `ismata almuttaqina

Peace be upon you, O shelter of the pious ones.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا إِِمَامَ ٱلْفَائِزِينَ

alssalamu `alayka ya imama alfa'izina

Peace be upon you, O leader of the winning party.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رُكْنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

alssalamu `alayka ya rukna almu'minina

Peace be upon you, O haven of the (true) believers.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا فَرَجَ ٱلْمَلْهُوفِينَ

alssalamu `alayka ya faraja almalhufina

Peace be upon you, O relief of the aggrieved ones.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَارِثَ ٱلانْبِيَاءِ ٱلْمُنْتَجَبِينَ

alssalamu `alayka ya waritha al-anbiya'i almuntajabina

Peace be upon you, O heir of the Prophets: the choice ones.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خَازِنَ عِلْمِ وَصِيِّ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya khazina `ilmi wasiyyi rasuli allahi

Peace be upon you, O keeper of the knowledge of the successor of Allah’s Messenger.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ ايُّهَا ٱلدَّاعِي بِحُكْمِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka ayyuha aldda`i bihukmi allahi

Peace be upon you, O he who invites to the judgment of Allah.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ ايُّهَا ٱلنَّاطِقُ بِكِتَابِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka ayyuha alnnatiqu bikitabi allahi

Peace be upon you, O he who speaks with the Book of Allah.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حُجَّةَ ٱلْحُجَجِ

alssalamu `alayka ya hujjata alhujaji

Peace be upon you, O prime Argument of all the arguments (of Allah.)

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا هَادِيَ ٱلامَمِ

alssalamu `alayka ya hadiya al-umami

Peace be upon you, O guide of all nations.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَلِيَّ ٱلنِّعَمِ

alssalamu `alayka ya waliyya alnni`ami

Peace be upon you, O source of all bounties.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا عَيْبَةَ ٱلْعِلْمِ

alssalamu `alayka ya `aybata al`ilmi

Peace be upon you, O store of knowledge.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا سَفِينَةَ ٱلْحِلْمِ

alssalamu `alayka ya safinata alhilmi

Peace be upon you, O ark of forbearance.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابَا ٱلإِمَامِ ٱلْمُنْتَظَرِ

alssalamu `alayka ya aba al-imami almuntazari

Peace be upon you, O father of the Awaited Imam:

ٱلظَّاهِرَةِ لِلْعَاقِلِ حُجَّتُهُ

alzzahirati lil`aqili hujjatuhu

whose claim is evident for the rational people,

وَٱلثَّابِتَةِ فِي ٱلْيَقِينِ مَعْرِفَتُهُ

walththabitati fi alyaqini ma`rifatuhu

whose recognition is fixed in the most certain things,

ٱلْمُحْتَجَبِ عَنْ اعْيُنِ ٱلظَّالِمِينَ

almuhtajabi `an a`yuni alzzalimina

whom is concealed against the eyes of the oppressors,

وَٱلْمُغَيَّبِ عَنْ دَوْلَةِ ٱلْفَاسِقِينَ

walmughayyabi `an dawlati alfasiqina

whom is hidden from the regimes of the faithless authorities,

وَٱلْمُعيدِ رَبُّنَا بِهِ ٱلإِسْلاَمَ جَدِيداً بَعْدَ ٱلإِنْطِمَاسِ

walmu`idi rabbana bihi al-islama jadidan ba`da al-intimasi

and through whom our Lord shall recover Islam over again after it will be effaced

وَٱلْقُرْآنَ غَضّاً بَعْدَ ٱلإِنْدِرَاسِ

walqur'ana ghaddan ba`da al-indirasi

and He shall recover the Qur'an fresh over again after it will be eradicated.

اشْهَدُ يَامَوْلاَيَ انَّكَ اقَمْتَ ٱلصَّلاَةَ

ashhadu ya mawlaya annaka aqamta alssalata

O master, I bear witness that you performed the prayers,

وَآتَيْتَ ٱلزَّكَاةَ

wa atayta alzzakata

defrayed the poor-rate,

وَامَرْتَ بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ

wa amarta bilma`rufi

enjoined the right,

وَنَهَيْتَ عَنِ ٱلْمُنْكَرِ

wa nahayta `an almunkari

forbade the wrong,

وَدَعَوْتَ إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِ رَبِّكَ

wa da`awta ila sabili rabbika

called to the way of your Lord

بِٱلْحِكْمَةِ وَٱلْمَوْعِظَةِ ٱلْحَسَنَةِ

bilhikmati walmaw`izati alhasanati

with wisdom and goodly exhortation,

وَعَبَدْتَ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصاً

wa `abadta allaha mukhlisan

and worshipped Allah sincerely

حَتَّىٰ اتَاكَ ٱلْيَقِينُ

hatta ataka alyaqinu

until death came upon you.

اسْالُ ٱللَّهَ بِٱلشَّانِ ٱلَّذِي لَكُمْ عِنْدَهُ

as'alu allaha bilshsha'ni alladhi lakum `indahu

I thus beseech Allah in the name of the rank that you enjoy with Him

انْ يَتَقَبَّلَ زِيَارَتِي لَكُمْ

an yataqabbala ziyarati lakum

to accept my visit to you,

وَيَشْكُرَ سَعْيِي إِِلَيْكُمْ

wa yashkura sa`yi ilaykum

receive my efforts with gratitude,

وَيَسْتَجِيبَ دُعَائِي بِكُمْ

wa yastajiba du`a'i bikum

respond to my prayers through you,

وَيَجْعَلَنِي مِنْ انْصَارِ الْحَقِّ

wa yaj`alani min ansari alhaqqi

and include me with the supporters of the truth,

وَاتْبَاعِهِ وَاشْيَاعِهِ

wa atba`ihi wa ashya`ihi

its followers, its adherents,

وَمَوَالِيهِ وَمُحِبِّيهِ

wa mawalihi wa muhibbihi

its devotees, and its lovers.

وَٱلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ وَرَحْمَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

wa alssalamu `alayka wa rahmatu allahi wa barakatuhu

Peace and Allah’s mercy and blessings be upon you.

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَاهْلِ بَيْتِهِ

allahumma salli `ala sayyidina muhammadin wa ahli baytihi

O Allah, (please do) send blessings upon our master Muhammad and his Household

وَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ ٱلْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ

wa salli `ala alhasani bni `aliyyin

and send blessings upon al-Hasan the son of `Ali

ٱلْهَادِي إِلَىٰ دِينِكَ

alhadi ila dinika

who guides to Your religion

وَٱلدَّاعِي إِلَىٰ سَبِيلِكَ

waldda`i ila sabilika

and calls to Your way,

عَلَمِ ٱلْهُدَىٰ

`alami alhuda

who is the sign of true guidance,

وَمَنَارِ ٱلتُّقَىٰ

wa manari alttuqa

the lantern of true piety,

وَمَعْدِنِ ٱلْحِجَىٰ

wa ma`dini alhija

the essence of rationality,

وَمَاوَىٰ ٱلنُّهَىٰ

wa ma'wa alnnuha

the resource of reason,

وَغَيْثِ ٱلْوَرَىٰ

wa ghaythi alwara

the raining cloud over mankind,

وَسَحَابِ ٱلْحِكْمَةِ

wa sahabi alhikmati

the cloud of wisdom,

وَبَحْرِ ٱلْمَوْعِظَةِ

wa bahri almaw`izati

the ocean of admonition,

وَوَارِثِ ٱلائِمَّةِ

wa warithi al-a'immati

the heir of the Imams,

وَٱلشَّهِيدِ عَلَىٰ ٱلامَّةِ

walshshahidi `ala al-ummati

the witness over the (Muslim) community,

ٱلْمَعْصُومِ ٱلْمُهَذَّبِ

alma`sumi almuhadhdhabi

the sinless, the well-mannered,

وَٱلْفَاضِلِ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِ

walfadili almuqarrabi

the virtuous, the favorable (by Allah),

وَٱلْمُطَهَّرِ مِنَ ٱلرِّجْسِ

walmutahhari min alrrijsi

the purified against filth,

ٱلَّذِي وَرَّثْتَهُ عِلْمَ ٱلْكِتَابِ

alladhi warrathtahu `ilma alkitabi

and the one whom You have given the knowledge of the (Holy) Book in inheritance,

وَالْهَمْتَهُ فَصْلَ ٱلْخِطَابِ

wa alhamtahu fasla alkhitabi

You have inspired with clear judgment,

وَنَصَبْتَهُ عَلَماً لإَِِهْلِ قِبْلَتِكَ

wa nasabtahu `alaman li'ahli qiblatika

You have appointed as the leading sign for those who follow the direction You have decided,

وَقَرَنْتَ طَاعَتَهُ بِطَاعَتِكَ

wa qaranta ta`atahu bita`atika

You have decided the obedience to him to be attached to the obedience to You,

وَفَرَضْتَ مَوَدَّتَهُ عَلَىٰ جَمِيعِ خَليقَتِكَ

wa faradta mawaddatahu `ala jami`i khaliqatika

and You have imposed the love for him upon all Your creatures.

اَللَّهُمَّ فَكَمَا انَابَ بِحُسْنِ ٱلإِخْلاَصِ فِي تَوْحِيدِكَ

allahumma fakama anaba bihusni al-ikhlasi fi tawhidika

O Allah, as he always turned to You with excellent sincerity in Your Oneness,

وَارْدَىٰ مَنْ خَاضَ فِي تَشْبِيهِكَ

wa arda man khada fi tashbihika

argued and defeated those who anthropomorphized You,

وَحَامَىٰ عَنْ اهْلِ ٱلإِيمَانِ بِكَ

wa hama `an ahli al-imani bika

and defended those who faithfully believed in You;

فَصَلِّ يَا رَبِّ عَلَيْهِ صَلاَةً

fasalli ya rabbi `alayhi salatan

so, O my Lord, (please) pour down on him Your blessings

يَلْحَقُ بِهَا مَحَلَّ ٱلْخَاشِعِينَ

yalhaqu biha mahalla alkhashi`ina

due to which he joins the rank of those who behave humbly toward You

وَيَعْلُو فِي ٱلْجَنَّةِ

wa ya`lu fi aljannati

and due to which he surmounts in Paradise

بِدَرَجَةِ جَدِّهِ خَاتَمِ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَ

bidarajati jaddihi khatami alnnabiyyina

to the rank of his forefather the Seal of the Prophets.

وَبَلِّغْهُ مِنَّا تَحِيَّةً وَسَلاَماً

wa ballighhu minna tahiyyatan wa salaman

And (please do) convey to him greetings and compliments from us,

وَآتِنَا مِنْ لَدُنْكَ فِي مُوَالاَتِهِ

wa atina min ladunka fi muwalatihi

grant us from You, on account of our loyalty to him,

فَضْلاًَ وَإِِحْسَاناً

fadlan wa ihsanan

favor and benevolence

وَمَغْفِرَةً وَرِضْوَاناً

wa maghfiratan wa ridwanan

and also grant us forgiveness and gratification,

إِِنَّكَ ذُو فَضْلٍ عَظِيمٍ

innaka dhu fadlin `azimin

for You are most certainly the Lord of enormous favor

وَمَنٍّ جَسِيمٍ

wa mannin jasimin

and huge bliss.

Ziarah Imam Hassan Askari(as)

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا وَلِيَّ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alayka ya waliyya allahi

Peace be upon you, O saint of Allah!

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا حُجَّةَ ٱللَّهِ وَخَالِصَتَهُ

alssalamu `alayka ya hujjata allahi wa khalisatahu

Peace be upon you, O argument of Allah and His choicest!

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا إِمَامَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنينَ

alssalamu `alayka ya imama almu'minina

Peace be upon you, O leader of the faithful believers,

وَوَارِثَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

wa waritha almursalina

inheritor of the messengers,

وَحُجَّةَ رَبِّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

wa hujjata rabbi al`alamina

and argument of the Lord of the Worlds!

صَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ بَيْتِكَ

salla allahu `alayka wa `ala ali baytika

May Allah send peace upon you and upon your Household,

ٱلطَّيِّبِينَ ٱلطَّاهِرِينَ

alttayyibina alttahirina

the pure and immaculate!

يَا مَوْلاَيَ يَا أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ

ya mawlaya ya aba muhammadin

O my master, O Abu-Muhammad,

ٱلْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ

alhasana ibna `aliyyin

al-Hasan, the son of `Ali!

أَنَا مَوْلىً لَكَ وَلِآلِ بَيْتِكَ

ana mawlan laka wa li-ali baytika

I am a servant of you and of your Household

وَهٰذَا يَوْمُكَ وَهُوَ يَوْمُ ٱلْخَمِيسِ

wa hadha yawmuka wa huwa yawmu alkhamisi

and today is your day, which is Thursday,

وَأَنَا ضَيْفُكَ فِيهِ وَمُسْتَجِيرٌ بِكَ فِيهِ

wa ana dayfuka fihi wa mustajirun bika fihi

and on this day, I am your guest and in your vicinity;

فَأَحْسِنْ ضِيَافَتِي وَإِجَارَتِي

fa-ahsin diyafati wa ijarati

so, receive me hospitably as your guest and neighbor,

بِحَقِّ آلِ بَيْتِكَ ٱلطَّيِّبِينَ ٱلطَّاهِرِينَ

bihaqqi ali baytika alttayyibina alttahirina

[I ask you] in the name of your Household, the pure and immaculate.

Dua After Ziyarah

You may then offer the two-unit prayer of ziyarah. When you accomplish, you may say the following prayer:

يَا دَائِمُ يَا دَيْمُومُ

ya da'imu ya daymumu

O All-eternal Lord! O All-everlasting!

يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ

ya hayyu ya qayyumu

O Ever-living! O All-subsisting!

يَا كَاشِفَ ٱلْكَرْبِ وَٱلْهَمِّ

ya kashifa alkarbi walhammi

O Reliever of agonies and grief!

وَيَا فَارِجَ ٱلْغَمِّ

wa ya farija alghammi

O Soother of anguishes!

وَيَا بَاعِثَ ٱلرُّسُلِ

wa ya ba`itha alrrusuli

O Appointer of Messengers!

وَيَا صَادِقَ ٱلْوَعْدِ

wa ya sadiqa alwa`di

O Truthful to what You promise!

وَيَا حَيُّ لاََ إِِلٰهَ إِِلاَّ انْتَ

wa ya hayyu la ilaha illa anta

O Ever-living! there is no deity save You.

اتَوَسَّلُ إِِلَيْكَ بِحَبِيبِكَ مُحَمَّدٍ

atawassalu ilayka bihabibika muhammadin

I beg You in the name of Your dear one Muhammad

وَوَصِيِّهِ عَلِيٍّ ٱبْنِ عَمِّهِ

wa wasiyyihi `aliyyin ibni `ammihi

and in the name of his successor `Ali his cousin

وَصِهْرِهِ عَلَىٰ ٱبْنَتِهِ

wa sihrihi `ala ibnatihi

and the husband of his daughter,

ٱللَّذَيْنِ خَتَمْتَ بِهِمَا ٱلشَّرَايِعَ

alladhayni khatamta bihima alshshara'i`a

through both of whom You have sealed Your laws

وَفَتَحْتَ بِهِمَا ٱلتَّاويلَ وَٱلطَّلاَيِعَ

wa fatahta bihima altta'wila walttala'i`a

and opened the interpretation and Your pioneering ordains.

فَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمَا

fasalli `alayhima

So, (please do) send upon both of them blessings

صَلاَةً يَشْهَدُ بِهَا ٱلاوَّلُونَ وَٱلآخِرُونَ

salatan yashhadu biha al-awwaluna wal-akhiruna

that are witnessed by the ancient and the coming generations

وَيَنْجُو بِهَا ٱلاوْلِيَاءُ وَٱلصَّالِحُونَ

wa yanju biha al-awliya'u walssalihuna

and by which the intimate servants and the righteous ones are saved.

وَاتَوَسَّلُ إِِلَيْكَ بِفَاطِمَةَ ٱلزَّهْرَاءِ

wa atawassalu ilayka bifatimata alzzahra'i

I also beg You in the name of Fatimah the Luminous,

وَالِدَةِ ٱلائِمَّةِ ٱلْمَهْدِيِّينَ

walidati al-a'immati almahdiyyina

the mother of the well-guided Imams,

وَسَيِّدَةِ نِسَاءِ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

wa sayyidati nisa'i al`alamina

and the Doyenne of the women of the worlds,

ٱلْمُشَفَّعَةِ فِي شِيعَةِ اوْلاَدِهَا ٱلطَّيِّبِينَ

almushaffa`ati fi shi`ati awladiha alttayyibina

who shall be allowed to intercede for the adherents of her immaculate descendants.

فَصَلِّ عَلَيْهَا صَلاَةً دَائِمَةً

fasalli `alayha salatan da'imatan

So, (please do) send upon her blessings that are as endless

ابَدَ ٱلآبِدِينَ وَدَهْرَ ٱلدَّاهِرِينَ

abada al-abidina wa dahra alddahirina

as ages and as endless as times.

وَاتَوَسَّلُ إِِلَيْكَ بِٱلْحَسَنِ ٱلرَّضِيِّ

wa atawassalu ilayka bilhasani alrradiyyi

I also beg You in the name of al-Hasanthe pleased,

ٱلطَّاهِرِ ٱلزَّكِيِّ

alttahiri alzzakiyyi

the infallible, and the pure,

وَٱلْحُسَيْنِ ٱلْمَظْلُومِ

walhusayni almazlumi

and in the name of al-Husayn the oppressed,

ٱلْمَرْضِيِّ ٱلْبَرِّ ٱلتَّقِيِّ

almardiyyi albarri alttaqiyyi

the pleased, the pious, and the righteous;

سَيِّدَيْ شَبَابِ اهْلِ ٱلْجَنَّةِ

sayyiday shababi ahli aljannati

(they both are) the masters of the youth of Paradise,

ٱلإِمَامَيْنِ ٱلْخَيِّرَيْنِ

al-imamayni alkhayyirayni

the two Imams who are virtuous,

ٱلطَّيِّبَيْنِ ٱلتَّقِيَّيْنِ

alttayyibayni alttaqiyyayni

infallible, pious,

ٱلنَّقِيَّيْنِ ٱلطَّاهِرَيْنِ

alnnaqiyyayni alttahirayni

pure, immaculate,

ٱلشَّهِيدَيْنِ ٱلْمَظْلُومَيْنِ ٱلْمَقْتُولَيْنِ

alshshahidayni almazlumayni almaqtulayni

martyred, oppressed, and slain.

فَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمَا مَا طَلَعَتْ شَمْسٌ وَمَا غَرَبَتْ

fasalli `alayhima ma tala`at shamsun wa ma gharabat

So, (please do) send upon them blessings whenever the sun rises and sets;

صَلاَةً مُتَوَالِيَةً مُتَتَالِيَةً

salatan mutawaliyatan mutataliyatan

blessings that are consecutive and successive.

وَاتَوَسَّلُ إِِلَيْكَ بِعَلِيِّ بْنِ ٱلْحُسَيْنِ

wa atawassalu ilayka bi`aliyyi bni alhusayni

I also beg You in the name of `Ali the son of al-Husayn

سَيِّدِ ٱلْعَابِدِينَ

sayyidi al`abidina

the chief of the worshippers

ٱلْمَحْجُوبِ مِنْ خَوْفِ ٱلظَّالِمِينَ

almahjubi min khawfi alzzalimina

and the concealed for fear of the oppressors,

وَبِمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ

wa bimuhammadi bni `aliyyin

and in the name of Muhammad the son of `Ali,

ٱلْبَاقِرِ ٱلطَّاهِرِ

albaqiri alttahiri

the splitter of knowledge, the pure,

ٱلنُّورِ ٱلزَّاهِرِ

alnnuri alzzahiri

the glowing light.

ٱلإِمَامَيْنِ ٱلسَّيِّدَيْنِ

al-imamayni alssayyidayni

(They both are) the two Imams and masters,

مِفْتَاحَيِ ٱلْبَرَكَاتِ

miftahay albarakati

the keys to blessings,

وَمِصْبَاحَيِ ٱلظُّلُمُاتِ

wa misbahay alzzulumati

and the lanterns in the murk.

فَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمَا مَا سَرَىٰ لَيْلٌ وَمَا اضَاءَ نَهَارٌ

fasalli `alayhima ma sara laylun wa ma ada'a naharun

So, (please) send blessings upon them whenever night comes and whenever daylight rises;

صَلاَةً تَغْدُو وَتَرُوحُ

salatan taghdu wa taruhu

such blessings that are ceaseless.

وَاتَوَسَّلُ إِِلَيْكَ بِجَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ

wa atawassalu ilayka bija`fari bni muhammadin

I also beg You in the name of Ja`far the son of Muhammad,

ٱلصَّادِقِ عَنِ ٱللَّهِ

alssadiqi `an allahi

the truthful in what he conveys from Allah

وَٱلنَّاطِقِ فِي عِلْمِ ٱللَّهِ

walnnatiqi fi `ilmi allahi

and the spokesman of Allah’s knowledge

وَبِمُوسَىٰ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ

wa bimusa bni ja`farin

and in the name of Musa the son of Ja`far,

ٱلْعَبْدِ ٱلصَّالِحِ فِي نَفْسِهِ

al`abdi alssalihi fi nafsihi

the self-righteous servant (of Allah)

وَٱلَوصِيِّ ٱلنَّاصِحِ

walwasiyyi alnnasihi

and the well-whishing successor (of the Prophet);

ٱلإِمَامَيْنِ ٱلْهَادِيَيْنِ ٱلْمَهْدِيَّيْنِ

al-imamayni alhadiyayni almahdiyyayni

(they both are) the two guiding and well-guided Imams

ٱلْوَافِيَيْنِ ٱلْكَافِيَيْنِ

alwafiyayni alkafiyayni

and the two adequate and saving Imams.

فَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمَا مَا سَبَّحَ لَكَ مَلَكٌ

fasalli `alayhima ma sabbaha laka malakun

So, (please) send upon them blessings whenever an angel glorifies You

وَتَحَرَّكَ لَكَ فَلَكٌ

wa taharraka laka falakun

and whenever a planet moves;

صَلاَةً تُنْمَىٰ وَتَزِيدُ

salatan tunma wa tazidu

such blessings that are increasable and growing

وَلاَ تَفْنَىٰ وَلاَ تَبِيدُ

wa la tafna wa la tabidu

and neither ending nor stopping.

وَاتَوَسَّلُ إِِلَيْكَ بِعَلِيِّ بْنِ مُوسَىٰ ٱلرِّضَا

wa atawassalu ilayka bi`aliyyi bni musa alrrida

I also beg You in the name of `Ali the son of Musa the well-pleased

وَبِمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ٱلْمُرْتَضَىٰ

wa bimuhammadi bni `aliyyin almurtada

and in the name of Muhammad the son of `Ali the well-contented;

ٱلإِمَامَيْنِ ٱلْمُطَهَّرَيْنِ ٱلْمُنْتَجَبَيْنِ

al-imamayni almutahharayni almuntajabayni

the two purified and divinely selected Imams.

فَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمَا مَا اضَاءَ صُبْحٌ وَدَامَ

fasalli `alayhima ma ada'a subhun wa dama

So, (please) send upon them blessings whenever morning glows and endures

صَلاَةً تُرَقِّيهِمَا إِلَىٰ رِضْوَانِكَ

salatan turaqqihima ila ridwanika

with such blessings that take them up to the rank of Your pleasure

فِي ٱلْعِلِّيِّينَ مِنْ جِنَانِكَ

fi al`illiyyina min jinanika

in the highest level of the gardens of Your Paradise.

وَاتَوَسَّلُ إِِلَيْكَ بِعَليِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ٱلرَّاشِدِ

wa atawassalu ilayka bi`aliyyi bni muhammadin alrrashidi

I also beg You in the name of `Ali the son of Muhammad the rightly-directing

وَٱلْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ٱلْهَادِي

walhasani bni `aliyyin alhadi

and in the name of al-Hasan the son of `Ali the guide;

ٱلْقَائِمَيْنِ بِامْرِ عِبَادِكَ

alqa'imayni bi'amri `ibadika

the two Imams who supervise the affairs of Your servants,

ٱلْمُخْتَبَرَيْنِ بِٱلِْمحَنِ ٱلْهَائِلَةِ

almukhtabarayni bilmihani alha'ilati

whom are tested by unbearable ordeals,

وَٱلصَّابِرَيْنِ فِي ٱلإِحَنِ ٱلْمَائِلَةِ

walssabirayni fi al-ihani alma'ilati

and who acted patiently against the swerving enmities.

فَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمَا كِفَاءَ اجْرِ ٱلصَّابِرينَ

fasalli `alayhima kifa'a ajri alssabirina

So, (please do) send upon them blessings that are suitable to the reward of the enduring people

وَإِِزَاءَ ثَوَابِ ٱلْفَائِزِينَ

wa iza'a thawabi alfa'izina

and worth being the prize of the winners;

صَلاَةً تُمَهِّدُ لَهُمَا ٱلرِّفْعَةَ

salatan tumahhidu lahuma alrrif`ata

such blessings that pave for them the way to exaltation.

وَاتَوَسَّلُ إِِلَيْكَ يَا رَبِّ بِإِِمَامِنَا

wa atawassalu ilayka ya rabbi bi'imamina

I also beg You, O Lord, in the name of our Imam

وَمُحَقِّقِ زَمَانِنَا

wa muhaqqiqi zamanina

the rising in our ages,

ٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْمَوْعُودِ

alyawmi almaw`udi

the promised day,

وَٱلشَّاهِدِ ٱلْمَشْهُودِ

walshshahidi almashhudi

the witnessed observer,

وَٱلنُّورِ ٱلازْهَرِ

walnnuri al-azhari

the luminous light,

وَٱلْضِّيَاءِ ٱلانْوَرِ

walddiya'i al-anwari

the bright illumination,

ٱلْمَنْصُورِ بِٱلْرُّعْبِ

almansuri bilrru`bi

the supported by means of horror,

وَٱلْمُظَفَّرِ بِٱلسَّعَادَةِ

walmuzaffari bilssa`adati

and the triumphant with happiness.

فَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ عَدَدَ ٱلثَّمَرِ

fasalli `alayhi `adada alththamari

So, (please) send upon him blessings that are as many as the numbers of fruits,

وَاوْرَاقِ ٱلشَّجَرِ

wa awraqi alshshajari

the leaves of trees,

وَاجْزَاءِ ٱلْمَدَرِ

wa ajza'i almadari

the townspeople,

وَعَدَدَ ٱلشَّعْرِ وَٱلْوَبَرِ

wa `adada alshsha`ri walwabari

the hairs of people and animals,

وَعَدَدَ مَا احَاطَ بِهِ عِلْمُكَ

wa `adada ma ahata bihi `ilmuka

and all things that Your knowledge encompasses

وَاحْصَاهُ كِتَابُكَ

wa ahsahu kitabuka

and You Book counts;

صَلاَةً يَغْبِطُهُ بَهَا ٱلاوَّلُونَ وَٱلآخِروُنَ

salatan yaghbituhu biha al-awwaluna wal-akhiruna

such blessings due to which all the ancient and the last generations wish to have their like.

اَللَّهُمَّ وَٱحْشُرْنَا فِي زُمْرَتِهِ

allahumma wahshurna fi zumratihi

O Allah, (please do) include us with his group,

وَٱحْفَظْنَا عَلَىٰ طَاعَتِهِ

wahfazna `ala ta`atihi

make us keep on obeying him,

وَٱحْرُسْنَا بِدَوْلَتِهِ

wahrusna bidawlatihi

guard us through his state,

وَاتْحِفْنَا بِوِلاَيَتِهِ

wa athifna biwilayatihi

confer upon us with the loyalty to him,

وَٱنْصُرْنَا عَلَىٰ اعْدَائِنَا بِعِزَّتِهِ

wansurna `ala a`da'ina bi`izzatihi

give us victory over our enemies as a result of his power,

وَٱجْعَلْنَا يَارَبِّ مِنَ ٱلتَّوَّابِينَ

waj`alna ya rabbi min alttawwabina

and include us, O Lord, with those who turn to You constantly.

يَا ارْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ

ya arhama alrrahimina

O most merciful of all those who show mercy!

اَللَّهُمَّ وَإِِنَّ إِِبْليسَ ٱلْمُتَمَرِّدَ ٱللَّعِينَ

allahumma wa inna iblisa almutamarrida alla`ina

O Allah, Iblis the rebel and accursed

قَدِ ٱسْتَنْظَرَكَ لإِِِغْوَاءِ خَلْقِكَ فَانْظَرْتَهُ

qad istanzaraka li'ighwa'i khalqika fa'anzartahu

asked You to grant him respite so that he would mislead Your creatures; and You granted him so.

وَٱسْتَمْهَلَكَ لإِِِضْلاَلِ عَبِيدِكَ فَامْهَلْتَهُ

wastamhalaka li'idlali `abidika fa'amhaltahu

He asked You to reprieve him so that he would misguide Your servants, and You reprieved him.

بِسَابِقِ عِلْمِكَ فِيهِ

bisabiqi `ilmika fihi

This is because You had already known about him.

وَقَدْ عَشَّشَ وَكَثُرَتْ جُنُودُهُ

wa qad `ashshasha wa kathurat junuduhu

He thus nested and gave birth to many hosts.

وَٱزْدَحَمَتْ جُيُوشُهُ

wazdahamat juyushuhu

So, his armies have been overcrowding,

وَٱنْتَشَرَتْ دُعَاتُهُ فِي اقْطَارِ ٱلارْضِ

wantasharat du`atuhu fi aqtari al-ardi

his propagandists have widespread in all the corners of this earth,

فَاضَلُّوٱ عِبَادَكَ وَافْسَدُوٱ دِينَكَ

fa'adallu `ibadaka wa afsadu dinaka

they have mislead Your servants, deformed Your religion,

وَحَرَّفُوٱ ٱلْكَلِمَ عَنْ مَوَاضِعِهِ

wa harrafu alkalima `an mawadi`ihi

displaced the words from their right places,

وَجَعَلُوٱ عِبَادَكَ شِيَعاً مُتَفَرِّقِينَ

wa ja`alu `ibadaka shiya`an mutafarriqina

and made Your servants diverse revelries

وَاحْزَاباً مُتَمَرِّدِينَ

wa ahzaban mutamarridina

and rebellious parties.

وَقَدْ وَعَدْتَ نَقْضَ بُنْيَانِهِ

wa qad wa`adta naqda bunyanihi

You promised that You would demolish his (i.e. Iblis) edifice

وَتَمْزِيقَ شَانِهِ

wa tamziqa sha'nihi

and tear out his matters.

فَاهْلِكْ اوْلاَدَهُ وَجُيُوشَهُ

fa'ahlik awladahu wa juyushahu

So, (please do) deaden his sons and armies,

وَطَهِّرْ بِلاَدَكَ مِنِ ٱخْتِرَاعَاتِهِ وَٱخْتِلاَفَاتِهِ

wa tahhir biladaka min ikhtira`atihi wakhtilafatihi

purify Your lands from his inventions and fabrications,

وَارِحْ عِبَادَكَ مِنْ مَذَاهِبِهِ وَقِيَاسَاتِهِ

wa arih `ibadaka min madhahibihi wa qiyasatihi

relieve Your servants from his factions and analogies,

وَٱجْعَلْ دَائِرَةَ ٱلسَّوْءِ عَلَيْهِمْ

waj`al da'irata alssaw'i `alayhim

make the disaster of evil surround them,

وَٱبْسُطْ عَدْلَكَ

wabsut `adlaka

extend Your justice,

وَاظْهِرْ دِينَكَ

wa azhir dinaka

give victory to Your religion,

وَقَوِّ اوْلِيَاءَكَ

wa qawwi awliya'aka

give strength to Your intimate servants,

وَاوْهِنْ اعْدَاءَكَ

wa awhin a`da'aka

weaken Your enemies,

وَاوْرِثْ دِيَارَ إِِبْليسَ

wa awrith diyara iblisa

make Your intimate servants inherit the lands of Iblis

وَدِيَارَ اوْلِيَائِهِ اوْلِيَاءَكَ

wa diyara awliya'ihi awliya'aka

and these of his fans,

وَخَلِّدْهُمْ فِي ٱلْجَحِيمِ

wa khallid-hum fi aljahimi

make the fans of Iblis stay forever in the blazing Fire,

وَاذِقْهُمْ مِنَ ٱلْعَذَابِ ٱلالِيمِ

wa adhiqhum min al`adhabi al-alimi

make them taste the painful torment,

وَٱجْعَلْ لَعَائِنَكَ ٱلْمُسْتَوْدَعَةَ

waj`al la`a'inaka almustawda`ata

and make the curses of You that are kept

فِي مَنَاحِسِ ٱلْخِلْقَةِ

fi manahisi alkhilqati

in the evil part of the creation

وَمَشَاوِيهِ ٱلْفِطْرَةِ

wa mashawihi alfitrati

and in the deformed part of the nature

دَائِرَةً عَلَيْهِمْ

da'iratan `alayhim

surround them forever,

وَمُوَكَّلَةً بِهِمْ

wa muwakkalatan bihim

control over them,

وَجَارِيَةً فِيهِمْ كُلَّ صَبَاحٍ وَمَسَاءٍ

wa jariyatan fihim kulla sabahin wa masa'in

and strike them every morning and evening

وَغُدُوٍّ وَرَوَاحٍ

wa ghuduwwin wa rawahin

and every moment of coming and going.

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي ٱلدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً

rabbana atina fi alddunya hasanatan

O Our Lord, (please do) grant us goodness in this world

وَفِي ٱلآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً

wa fi al-akhirati hasanatan

and goodness in the world to come

وَقِنَا بِرَحْمَتِكَ عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ

wa qina birahmatika `adhaba alnnari

and save us, out of Your mercy, from the torment of Fire.

يَا ارْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ

ya arhama alrrahimina

O most merciful of all those who show mercy.

Salawat Upon Imam al-Askari

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ ٱلْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ

allahumma salli `ala alhasani bni `aliyyi bni muhammadin

O Allah, (please) send blessings upon al-Hasan the son of `Ali the son of Muhammad,

ٱلْبَرِّ ٱلتَّقِيِّ

albarri alttaqiyyi

the dutiful, the pious,

ٱلصَّادِقِ ٱلْوَفِيِّ

alssadiqi alwafiyyi

the honest, the faithful,

ٱلنُّورِ ٱلْمُضِيءِ

alnnuri almudi'i

the shining light,

خَازِنِ عِلْمِكَ

khazini `ilmika

the treasurer of Your knowledge,

وَٱلْمُذَكِّرِ بِتَوْحِيدِكَ

walmudhakkiri bitawhidika

the reminder of the profession of Your Oneness,

وَوَلِيِّ أَمْرِكَ

wa waliyyi amrika

the authorized to undertake Your mission,

وَخَلَفِ أَئِمَّةِ ٱلدِّينَ

wa khalafi a'immati alddini

the descendant of the leaders of the religion

ٱلْهُدَاةِ ٱلرَّاشِدِينَ

alhudati alrrashidina

who are rightly guiding and rightly directing,

وَٱلْحُجَّةِ عَلَىٰ أَهْلِ ٱلدُّنْيَا

walhujjati `ala ahli alddunya

and the argument against the inhabitants of this world.

فَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ يَا رَبِّ

fasalli `alayhi ya rabbi

So, bless him, O my Lord,

أَفْضَلَ مَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَىٰ أَحَدٍ

afdala ma sallayta `ala ahadin

with the most favorite blessings that You have ever bestowed

مِنْ أَصْفِيَائِكَ وَحُجَجِكَ وَأَوْلاَدِ رُسُلِكَ

min asfiya'ika wa hujajika wa awladi rusulika

upon any of Your elite persons, argument-persons, and descendants of Your Messengers.

يَا إِلٰهَ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

ya ilaha al`alamina

O God of the worlds!
