Ziyaarat-e-Ameerul Momeneen Imam Ali (a.s.)

Text and Translation

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّهَا الْوَصِیُّ الْبَرَّالتَّقِیُّ

AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA AYYOHAL WASIYYUL BARRAT TAQIYYO

Peace be upon you, O righteous, god-fearing executor!

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّهَا النَّبَأُ الْعَظِیْمُ

AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA AYYOHAN NABA-UL A’ZEEMO

Peace be upon you, O Great News!

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّهَا الصِّدِّیْقُ الرَّشِیْدُ

AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA AYYOHAS SIDDEEQUR RASHEEDO

Peace be upon you, O rightly-guided, truthful one!

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ اَیُّهَا الْبَرُّ الزَّکِیُّ

AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA AYYOHAL BARRUZ ZAKIYYO

Peace be upon you, O pious, pure one!

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا خِیَرَۃَ اللّٰهِ عَلَی الْخَلْقِ اَجْمَعِیْنَ

AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA KHEYARATAL LAAHE A’LAL KHALQE AJMA-E’ENA

Peace be upon you, O chosen elite of Allah over all creation!

اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ حَبِیْبُ اللّٰهِ وَ خَاصَّۃُ اللّٰهِ وَ خَالِصَتُہٗ

ASHHADO ANNAKA HABEEBUL LAAHE WA KHAASSATUL LAAHE WA KHAALESATOHU

I bear witness that you are the beloved of Allah, His specially chosen one, and His sincere friend.

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْكَ یَا وَلِیَّ اللّٰهِ

AS-SALAAMO A’LAYKA YAA WALIYYAL LAAHE

Peace be upon you, O guardian appointed by Allah,

وَ مَوْضِعَ سِرِّہٖ وَ عَیْبَۃَ عِلْمِہٖ وَ خَازِنَ وَحْیِہٖ

WA MAWZE-A’ SIRREHI WA A’YBATA I’LMEHI WA KHAAZENA WAHYEHI

the repository of His secret, the chest of His knowledge, and the treasurer of His revelation!

بِاَبِیْ اَنْتَ وَ اُمِّیْ یَا اَمِیْرَ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ

BE-ABEE ANTA WA UMMEE YAA AMEERAL MO-MENEENA

May my father and my mother be sacrificed for you, O Commander of the Faithful!

بِاَبِیْ اَنْتَ وَ اُمِّیْ یَا حُجَّۃَ اللّٰهِ عَلَی الْاَنَامِ

BE-ABEE ANTA WA UMMEE YAA HUJJATAL LAAHE A’LAL ANAAME

May my father and my mother be sacrificed for you, O proof of Allah over mankind!

بِاَبِیْ اَنْتَ وَ اُمِّیْ یَا بَابَ الْمَقَامِ

BE-ABEE ANTA WA UMMEE YAA BAABAL MAQAAME

May my father and my mother be sacrificed for you, O gate to the high station!

بِاَبِیْ اَنْتَ وَ اُمِّیْ یَا نُوْرَاللّٰهِ التَّامِّ

BE-ABEE ANTA WA UMMEE YAA NOORAL LAAHIT TAAMME

May my father and my mother be sacrificed for you, O perfect light of Allah!

اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ قَدْ بَلَّغْتَ عَنِ اللّٰهِ وَ عَنْ رَسُوْلِہٖ

ASHHADO ANNAKA QAD BALLAGHTA A’NIL LAAHE WA A’N RASOOLEHI

I bear witness that you conveyed on behalf of Allah and His Messenger

صَلَّی اللّٰهُ عَلَیْهِ وَ اٰلِہٖ

SALLAL LAAHO A’LAYHE WA AALEHI

may the blessings of Allah be upon him and his family

مَا حُمِّلْتَ وَ رَعَیْتَ مَا اسْتُحْفِظْتَ

MAA HUMMILTA WA RA-A’YTA MAS TOHFIZTA

what you were charged with, you protected what you were entrusted to guard,

وَ حَفِظْتَ مَا اسْتُوْدِعْتَ

WA HAFIZTA MAS TOODE’TA

you preserved what was deposited with you,

وَ حَلَّلْتَ حَلَالَ اللّٰهِ

WA HALLALTA HALAALAL LAAHE

you permitted what Allah made lawful,

وَ حَرَّمْتَ حَرَامَ اللّٰهِ

WA HARRAMTA HARAAMAL LAAHE

you forbade what Allah made unlawful,

وَ اَتْمَمْتَ اَحْكَامَ اللّٰهِ

WA ATMAMTA AHKAAMAL LAAHE

you fulfilled the ordinances of Allah,

وَلَمْ تَتَعَدَّ حُدُوْدَ اللّٰهِ

WA LAM TATA-A’DDA HODOODAL LAAHE

and you never transgressed the bounds of Allah.

عَبَدْتَ اللّٰهَ مُخْلِصًا حَتّٰی اَتَاكَ الْیَقِیْنُ

A’BADTAL LAAHA MUKHLESAN HATTAA ATAAKAL YAQEENO

You worshipped Allah with absolute sincerity until death came to you.

وَ صَلَّی اللّٰهُ عَلَیْكَ وَ عَلَی الْاَئِمَّۃِ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ.

WA SALLAL LAAHO A’LAYKA WA A’LAL A-IMMATE MIM BA’DEKA.

May the blessings of Allah be upon you and upon the Imams after you.
