The Supplication of Tuesday

Text and Translation

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM.

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ

ALHAMDO LILLAAHE

All praise be to Allah;

وَالْحَمْدُ حَقُّهٗ كَمَا يَسْتَحِقُّهٗ

WAL HAMDO HAQQOHU KAMAA YASTAHIQQOHU

and praise is His right, since He deserves it,

حَمْدًا كَثِيْرًا

HAMDAN KASEERAN

abundant praise!

وَّاَعُوْذُ بِهٖ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِىْ

WA A-O’OZOBEHI MIN SHARRE NAFSEE

I seek refuge in Him from the evil of my soul,

اِنَّ النَّفْسَ لَاَمَّارَةٌ بِالسُّوْٓءِ

INNAN NAFSA LA AMMAARATUN BIS-SOOE

“For surely, the soul commands to evil

اِلَّا مَارَحِمَ رَبِّىْ

ILLAA MAA RAHEMA RABBEE

except as my Lord has mercy.”

وَاَعُوْذُ بِهٖ مِنْ شَرِّ الشَّيْطَانِ

WA A-O’OZO BEHI MIN SHARRISH SHAYTANIL

I seek refuge in Him from the evil of Satan

الَّذِىْ يَزِيْدُنِىْ ذَنْۢبًا اِلٰى ذَنْبِىْ

LAZEE YAZEEDONI ZAMBAN ELAA ZAMBEE

who adds sins to my sin.

وَاَحْتَرِزُ بِهٖ مِنْ كُلِّ جَبَّارٍ فَاجِرٍ

WA AHTAREZO BEHI MIN KULLE JABBAARIN FAAJERIN

I seek protection with Him from every wicked tyrant,

وَّسُلْطَانٍ جَآئِرٍ

WA SULTAANIN JAA-ERIN

unjust sovereign,

وَّعَدُوٍّ قَاهِرٍ

WA A’DUWWIN QAAHERIN

and conquering enemy.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِىْ مِنْ جُنْدِكَ

ALLAAHUMMAJ A’LNEE MIN JUNDEKA

O Allah, place me among Your troops,

فَاِنَّ جُنْدَكَ هُمُ الْغَالِبُوْنَ

FA-INNA JUNDAKA HOMUL GHAALEBOONA

for Your troops—they are the victors,

وَاجْعَلْنِىْ مِنْ حِزْبِكَ

WAJ-A’LNEE MIN HIZBEKA

and place me in Your party,

فَاِنَّ حِزْبَكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُوْنَ

FA-INNA HIZBAKA HOMUL MUFLEHOON

for Your party—they are the ones who prosper,

وَاجْعَلْنِىْ مِنْ اَوْلِيَآئِكَ

WAJ-A’LNEE MIN AWLEYAAA-EKA

and place me among Your friends,

فَاِنَّ اَوْلِيَآئَكَ لَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ

FA-INNA AWLEYAA-AKE LAA KHAWFUN A’LAYHIM

for Your friends—no fear shall be upon them,

وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُوْنَ

WA LAA HUM YAHZANOON

nor shall they experience sorrow.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اَصْلِحْ لِىْ دِيْنِىْ

ALLAAHUMMA ASLEH LEE DEENEE

O Allah, set right for me my religion,

فَاِنَّهٗ عِصْمَةُ اَمْرِىْ

FA-INNAHU I’SMATO AMREE

for it is the preserving tie of my affair;

وَاَصْلِحْ لِىْ آخِرَتِىْ

WA ASLEH LEE AAKHERATEE

set right for me my hereafter,

فَاِنَّهَا دَارُ مَقَرِّىْ

FA-INNAHAA DAARO MAQARREE

for it is the abode of my permanent lodging

وَاِلَيْهَا مِنْ مُجَاوَرَةِ اللِّئَامِ مَفَرِّىْ

WA ELAYHAA MIN MOJAAWARATIL LE-AAME MAFARREE

and to it I flee from the neighborhood of the vile!

وَاجْعَلِ الْحَيٰوةَ زِيَادَةً لِىْ فِىْ كُلِّ خَيْرٍ

WAJ A’LIL HAYAATA ZEYAADATAN LEE FEE KULLE KHAYRIN

Make life an increase for me in every good

وَالْوَفَاةَ رَاحَةً لِىْ مِنْ كُلِّ شَرٍّ

WAL WAFAATA RAAHATAN LEE MIN KULLE SHARRIN

and death an ease for me from every evil!

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ

ALLAAHUMMA SALLE A’LAA MOHAMMADIN

O Allah, send blessings to Muhammad,

خَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّيْنَ

KHAATAMIN NABIYYEENA

the Seal of the Prophets

وَتَمَامِ عِدَّةِ الْمُرْسَلِيْنَ

WA TAMAAME I’DDATIL MURSALEENA

and the completion of the number of the envoys,

وَعَلٰى آلِهِ الطَّيِّبِيْنَ الطَّاهِرِيْنَ

WA A’LAA AALEHIT TAYYEBEENAT TAAHEREENA

and upon his Household, the good, the pure,

وَاَصْحَابِهِ الْمُنْتَجِبِيْنَ

WA ASHAABEHIL MUNTAJEBEENA

and upon his Companions, the distinguished,

وَهَبْ لِىْ فِىْ الثُّلَاثَآءِ ثَلاَثًا

WA HAB LEE FIS SOLAASAA-E SALAASAN

and give me on Tuesday three things:

لَا تَدَعْ لِىْ ذَنْبًا اِلَّا غَفَرْتَهٗ

LAA TADA’ LEE ZAMBAN ILLAA GHAFARTAHU

Leave no sin for me unless You forgive it,

وَلَا غَمًّا اِلَّا اَذْهَبْتَهٗ

WA LAA GHAMMAN ILLAA AZHABTAHU

no grief unless You take it away,

وَلاَ عَدُوًّا اِلَّا دَفَعْتَهٗ

WA LAA A’DUWWAN ILLAA DA-FA’TAHU

and no enemy unless You repel him!

بِبِسْمِ اللهِ خَيْرِ الْاَسْمَآءِ

BE-BISMIL LAAHE KHAYRIL ASMAAA-E

In the name of “In the name of Allah,” the best of the Names,

بِسْمِ اللهِ رَبِّ الْاَرْضِ وَالسَّمَآءِ

BISMIL LAAHE RABBIL ARZE WAS SAMAAA-E

In the name of Allah, the Lord of the earth and the heaven,

اَسْتَدْفِعُ كُلَّ مَكْرُوْهٍ اَوَّلُهٗ سَخَطُهٗ

ASTADFE-O’ KULLA MAKROOHIN AWWALOHU SAKHATOHU

I seek to repulse every hateful thing, the first of which is His anger,

وَاَسْتَجْلِبُ كُلَّ مَحْبُوْبٍ اَوَّلُهٗ رِضَاهُ

WA ASTAJ-LEBO KULLA MAHBOOBIN AWWALOHU REZAAHO

and I seek to attract every lovable thing, the first of which is His good pleasure!

فَاخْتِمْ لِىْ مِنْكَ بِالْغُفْرَانِ

FAKHTIM LEE MINKA BIL GHUFRAANE

So, seal me with forgiveness from You,

يَا وَلِىَّ الْاِحْسَانِ.

YAA WALIYYAL EHSAAN.

O Patron of beneficence!
