The Supplication of Friday

Text and Translation

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْم

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM.

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الْاَوَّلِ قَبْلَ الْاِنْشَآءِ وَالْاِحْيَآءِ

ALHAMDO LILLAHIL AWWALE QABLAL INSHAAA-E WAL AHYAAA-E

All praise be to Allah, the First before the bringing forth and the giving of life,

وَالْآخِرِ بَعْدَ فَنَآءِ الْاَشْيَآءِ

WAL AAKHERE BA’DA FANAAA-IL ASHYAAA-IL

and the Last after the annihilation of all things,

الْعَلِيْمِ الَّذِىْ لَا يَنْسٰى مَنْ ذَكَرَهٗ

A’LEEMIL LAZEE LAA YANSAA MAN ZAKARAHU

the All-knowing Who forgets not him who remembers Him,

وَ لَا يَنْقُصُ مَنْ شَكَرَهٗ

WA LAA YANQOSO MAN SHAKARAHU

decreases not him who thanks Him,

وَ لَا يَخِيْبُ مَنْ دَعَاهُ

WA LAA YAKHEEBO MAN DA-A’AHO

disappoints not him who supplicates Him,

وَ لَا يَقْطَعُ رَجَآءَ مَنْ رَجَاهُ

WA LAA YAQTA-O’ RAJAAA-A MAN RAJAAHO

and cuts not off the hope of him who hopes in Him!

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْ اُشْهِدُكَ وَ كَفٰى بِكَ شَهِيْدًا

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE USH-HEDOKA WA KAFAA BEKA SHAHEEDAN

O Allah, I call You to witness and You are sufficient Witness

وَّ اُشْهِدُ جَمِيْعَ مَلَآئِكَتِكَ

WA USH-HEDO JAMEE-A’ MALAAA-E-KATEKA

and I call to witness all Your angels,

وَ سُكَّانَ سَمٰوَاتِكَ وَ حَمَلَةَ عَرْشِكَ

WA SUKKAANA SAMAAWAATEKA WA HAMALATA A’RSHEKA

the inhabitants of Your heavens, the bearers of Your Throne,

وَ مَنْ بَعَثْتَ مِنْ اَنْبِيَآئِكَ وَ رُسُلِكَ

WA MAN BA-A’STA MIN AMBEYAAA-EKA WA ROSOLEKA

Your prophets and Your messengers whom You have sent out,

وَ اَنْشَاْتَ مِنْ اَصْنَافِ خَلْقِكَ

WA ANSHAATA MIN ASNAAFE KHALKEKA

and the various kinds of creatures You have brought forth,

اَنِّىْ اَشْهَدُ اَنَّكَ اَنْتَ اللهُ

ANNEE ASH-HADO ANNAKA ANTAL LAAHO

that I bear witness that You are Allah;

لَا اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ

LAA ELAAHA ILLAA ANTA

there is no god but You, You alone,

وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَكَ

WAHDAKA LAA SHAREEKA LAKA

Who have no associate nor any equal,

وَ لَا عَدِيْلَ وَ لَا خُلْفَ لِقَوْلِكَ وَ لَا تَبْدِيْلَ

WA LAA ADEELA WA LAA KHULFA LE-QAWLEKA WA LAA TABDEELA

and Your word has no failing, nor any change;

وَ اَنَّ مُحَمَّدً صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهٖ عَبْدُكَ وَ رَسُوْلُكَ

WA ANNA MOHAMMADAN SALLAL LAAHO A’LAYHE WA AALEHI WA SALLAMA A’BDOKA WA RASOOLOKA

and that Muhammad, Allah bless him and his Household, is Your servant and Your messenger;

اَدّٰى مَا حَمَّلْتَهٗ اِلَى الْعِبَادِ

ADDAA MAA HAMMALTAHU ELAL E’BAADE

he delivered to the servants that with which You charged him,

وَجَاهَدَ فِىْ اللهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ حَقَّ الْجِهَادِ

WA JAAHADA FILLAAHE HAQQAL JEHAADE

struggled for Allah as is His due,

وَ اَنَّهٗ بَشَّرَ بِمَا هُوَ حَقٌّ مِنَ الثَّوَابِ

WA ANNAHU BASHSHARA BEMAA HOWA HAQQUN MENAS SAWAAB

gave the good news of the truth of reward,

وَ اَنْذَرَ بِمَا هُوَ صِدْقٌ مِنَ الْعِقَابِ

WA ANZARA BEMAA HOWA SIDQUN MENAL E’QAABE

and warned of the veracity of punishment.

اَللّٰهُمَّ ثَبِّتْنِىْ عَلٰى دِيْنِكَ مَا اَحْيَيْتَنِىْ

ALLAAHUMMA SABBITNEE A’LAA DEENEKA MAA AHYAYTANEE

O Allah, make me firm in Your religion as long as You keep me alive,

وَ لَا تُزِغْ قَلْبِىْ بَعْدَ اِذْ هَدَيْتَنِىْ

WA LAA TOZIGH QALBEE BA’DA IZ HADAYTANEE

make not my heart swerve after You have guided me,

وَ هَبْ لِىْ مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً

WA HAB LEE MIN LADUNKA RAHMATAN

and give me mercy from You,

اِنَّكَ اَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ

INNAKA ANTAL WAHHAB,

surely, You are the All-bestower.

صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ عَلٰى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

SALLE A’LAA MOHAMMADIN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN

Bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَّاجْعَلْنِىْ مِنْ اَتْبَاعِهٖ وَ شِيْعَتِهٖ

WAJ A’LNEE MIN AT-BAA-E’HI WA SHEE-A’TEHI
