The Last Day of Zilhaj

Text and Translation

The last day of Zilhajj is the last day in the Arabic calendar. According to some narrations mentioned by Sayyid Ibn Taaoos in his book of Iqbal al-Aa’maal, it is recommended to offer a two unit prayer on this day reciting Surah al-Faatehah once, and repeating each of Surah al-Tawheed and Ayah al-Kursi ten times. After accomplishment, it is recommended to say the following supplicatory prayer:

اَللّٰهُمَّ مَا عَمِلْتُ فِيْ هٰذِهِ السَّنَةِ

ALLAAHUMMA MAA AMILTO FEE HAAZEHIS SANATE

O Allah, whatever deed I have committed in this year

مِنْ عَمَلٍ نَهَيْتَنِيْ عَنْهُ

MIN A’MALIN NAHAYTANEE A’NHO

that You forbade me from,

وَ لَمْ تَرْضَهُ وَ نَسِيْتُهٗ وَ لَمْ تَنْسَهٗ

WA LAM TARZAHO WA NASEETOHU WA LAM TANSAHU

which You were not pleased with, and which I forgot but You did not forget,

وَ دَعَوْتَنِيْ اِلَى التَّوْبَةِ بَعْدَ اجْتِرَاۤئِيْ عَلَيْكَ

WA DA-A’WTANEE ELAT TAWBATE BA’DAJ TERAAA-EE A’LAYKA

and You called me to repentance after my audacity against You—

اَللّٰهُمَّ فَاِنِّيْ اَسْتَغْفِرُكَ مِنْهُ فَاغْفِرْ لِيْ

ALLAAHUMMA FA-INNEE ASTAGHFEROKA MINHO FAGHFIR LEE

O Allah, I seek Your forgiveness for it, so forgive me.

وَ مَا عَمِلْتُ مِنْ عَمَلٍ يُقَرِّبُنِيْ اِلَيْكَ فَاقْبَلْهُ مِنِّيْ

WA MAA A’MILTO MIN A’MALIN YOQARREBONEE ELAYKA FAQBALHO MINNEE

And whatever deed I have committed that brings me closer to You, accept it from me,

وَ لَا تَقْطَعْ رَجَاۤئِيْ مِنْكَ يَا كَرِيْمُ.

WA LAA TAQTA’ RAJAAA-EE MINKA YAA KAREEMO.

and do not cut off my hope in You, O Generous One.

If these statements are said, Satan will say, “Woe to me! All the efforts that I have exerted throughout this year for misleading this person have been failed by the utterance of these statements.” Besides, one who says these words will be testified by the year that he sealed it in a good way.
