Taweez for Neutralizing Sorcery

Text and Translation

Imam Ali (a) is reported to have advised those who intend to neutralize a spell cast upon them to write down the following statements on a parchment made of an antelope's skin and then hang it on the body:

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ وَ بِاللّٰهِ بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ وَ مَاشَاۤءَ اللّٰهُ بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ

BISMILLAAHI WA BILLAAH, BISMILLAAHI WA MAA SHAAA-ALLAAH, BISMILLAAHI WA LAA HAWLA WA LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAAH

In the name of Allah and by Allah; in the name of Allah and as Allah wills; in the name of Allah and there is no power and no strength except with Allah,

قَالَ مُوْسٰى مَا جِئْتُمْ بِهِ السِّحْرُ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ سَيُبْطِلُهٗ اِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَا يُصْلِحُ عَمَلَ الْمُفْسِدِيْنَ فَوَقَعَ الْحَقُّ وَ بَطَلَ مَا كَانُوْا يَعْمَلُوْنَ فَغُلِبُوْا هُنَالِكَ وَانْقَلَبُوْا صَاغِرِيْنَ

QAALA MOOSAA MAA JI-TUM BIHIS SIHR, INNALLAAHA SAYUBTILUH, INNALLAAHA LAA YUSLIHU A'MALAL MUFSIDEEN, FA-WAQA-A'L HAQQU WA BATALA MAA KAANOO YA'MALOON, FA-GHULIBOO HUNAALIKA WANQALABOO SAAGHIREEN

Moses said, 'Whatever you have brought is sorcery; Allah will surely bring it to nothing — Allah does not set right the work of the corrupters.' So the truth prevailed, and what they wrought came to nothing; thus they were defeated there and turned back, humbled.
