Taweez against Headache & Ear ache

Text and Translation

Imam al-Baqir (a.s.) is reported to have said: Whoever suffers from headache may rub his head with his hand and repeat the following statement seven times:

اَعُوْذُ بِاللّٰهِ الَّذِىْ سَكَنَ لَهٗ مَا فِى الْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ وَ مَا فِى السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَ هُوَ السَّمِيْعُ الْعَلِيْمُ.

A'OOZU BIL LAAHIL LAZEE SAKANA LAHOO MAA FIL BARRI WAL BAHRI WA MAA FIS SAMAAWAATI WAL ARZI WA HUWAS SAMEE'UL 'ALEEM.

I seek refuge with Allah, before Whom all that is in the land and the sea, and all that is in the heavens and the earth, is still; and He is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.

SUPPLICATORY AMULET AGAINST EARACHE

Imam al-Sadiq(a.s.) is reported to have advised the same supplicatory amulet to be repeated seven times by those who suffer from earache.

Imam al-Sadiq(a.s.) is reported to have advised those who suffer from earache to do the following:

Bring a piece of very old cheese, crush it, add milk to it, boil it on fire, and pour some drops of it in the ached ear.

SUPPLICATORY AMULET AGAINST HEADACHE

Recite the following holy verse on a glass of water and then drink it:

اَوَلَمْ يَرَ الَّذِيْنَ كَفَرُوْا اَنَّ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضَ كَانَتَا رَتْقًا فَفَتَقْنَاهُمَا وَ جَعَلْنَا مِنَ الْمَاۤءِ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ حَيٍّ اَفَلَا يُؤْمِنُوْنَ.

AWALAM YARAL LAZEENA KAFAROO ANNAS SAMAAWAATI WAL ARZA KAANATAA RATQAN FAFATAQNAAHUMAA WA JA'ALNAA MINAL MAA-I KULLA SHAY-IN HAYYIN AFALAA YU'MINOON.

Do not those who disbelieve see that the heavens and the earth were closed up, and We opened them, and We made from water every living thing? Will they not then believe?

It is reported that whenever the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) was ailed or suffered from headache, he would open his two hands, recite Surah al-Faatehah, Surah al-Falaq, and Surah al-Nas, and then rub his face with his hands. Then, the ache would disappear.

For those who suffer from headache, while rubbing their heads with the hands, the following holy verse should be recited:

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ يُمْسِكُ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَ الْاَرْضَ اَنْ تَزُوْلَا وَ لَئِنْ زَالَتَا اِنْ اَمْسَكَهُمَا مِنْ اَحَدٍ مِّنْ بَعْدِهٖ اِنَّهٗ كَانَ حَلِيْمًا غَفُوْرًا.

INNAL LAAHA YUMSIKUS SAMAAWAATI WAL ARZA AN TAZOOLAA WA LA-IN ZAALATAA IN AMSAKAHUMAA MIN AHADIN MIN BA'DIHEE INNAHOO KAANA HALEEMAN GHAFOORAA.

Surely Allah upholds the heavens and the earth lest they come to naught; and if they come to naught, there is none who can uphold them after Him. Surely He is Forbearing, Forgiving.

The following incident is quoted from the book of Rabi’ al-Abrar:

In Turtus (a city western Syria), Al-Ma’mun, the ‘Abbasid ruler, was once affected by headache that none could treat. Having heard about this, the Roman emperor sent him a bonnet and a letter in which he wrote, “Having been informed about your headache, I sent you this bonnet so that you would put it on your head and your ache would vanish.” Anticipating that the bonnet would be poisoned, al-Ma’mun ordered the messenger to put it on his head. However, no harm happened to the messenger. Al-Ma’mun then ordered the bonnet to be put on the head of another man who suffered from headache. Therefore, his pain vanished. Only then did he put it on his head and his headache vanished. Surprised, al-Ma’mun untied the bonnet and found the following inscription written therein:

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ كَمْ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ لِلّٰهِ فِىْ عِرْقٍ سَاكِنٍ حٰمٓ عٓسٓقٓ لَا يُصَدَّعُوْنَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنْزِفُوْنَ مِنْ كَلَامِ الرَّحْمٰنِ خَمَدَتِ النِّيْرَانُ وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ وَ جَالَ نَفْعُ الدَّوَاۤءِ فِيْكَ كَمَا يَجُوْلُ مَاۤءُ الرَّبِيْعِ فِى الْغُصْنِ.

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEMI KAM MIN NI'MATIN LILLAAHI FEE I'RQIN SAAKININ HAAM SQ LAA YUSADDA'OONA A'NHAA WALAA YUNZIFOONA MIN KALAAMIR RAHMAANI KHAMADATIN NEERAANU WA LAA HAWLA WALAA QUWWATA ILLAA BIL LAAHI WA JAALA NAF'UD DAWAA-I FEEKA KAMAA YAJOOLU MAA-UR RABEE'I FIL GHUSN.

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful. How many a blessing of Allah lies in a still vein! Ha Mim. 'Ayn Sin Qaf. They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted. By the words of the Beneficent the fires died down, and there is no might and no power save in Allah. May the benefit of the medicine flow through you as the spring water flows through the branch.
