Recitations near Friday Dawn (Fajr)

Text and Translation

Twelfth: Shaykh al-Tusi, Sayyid Ibn Tawus, and others have mentioned the following supplicatory prayer confirming that it is recommended to say it at Friday nights just before dawn (fajr):

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِهِ وَ هَبْ لِيَ الْغَدَاةَ رِضَاكَ وَ اَسْكِنْ قَلْبِيْ خَوْفَكَ وَ اقْطَعْهُ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ حَتّٰى لَاۤ اَرْجُوْ وَ لَاۤ اَخَافَ اِلَّاۤ اِيَّاكَ اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِهِ وَ هَبْ لِيْ ثَبَاتَ الْيَقِيْنِ وَ مَحْضَ الْاِخْلَاصِ وَ شَرَفَ التَّوْحِيْدِ وَ دَوَامَ الْاِسْتِقَامَةِ وَ مَعْدِنَ الصَّبْرِ وَ الرِّضَا بِالْقَضَاۤءِ وَ الْقَدَرِ يَا قَاضِيَ حَوَاۤئِجِ السَّاۤئِلِيْنَ يَا مَنْ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِيْ ضَمِيْرِ الصَّامِتِيْنَ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اٰلِهِ، وَ اسْتَجِبْ دُعَاۤئِي وَ اغْفِرْ ذَنْبِيْ وَ اَوْسِعْ رِزْقِيْ وَ اقْضِ حَوَاۤئِجِيْ فِي نَفْسِيْ وَ اِخْوَانِيْ فِيْ دِيْنِيْ وَ اَهْلِيْ اِلٰهِيْ طُمُوْحُ الْاٰمَالِ قَدْ خَابَتْ اِلَّا لَدَيْكَ وَ مَعَاكِفُ الْهِمَمِ قَدْ تَعَطَّلَتْ اِلَّا عَلَيْكَ وَ مَذَاهِبُ الْعُقُوْلِ قَدْ سَمَتْ اِلَّاۤ اِلَيْكَ فَاَنْتَ الرَّجَاۤءُ وَ اِلَيْكَ الْمُلْتَجَاُ يَاۤ اَكْرَمَ مَقْصُوْدٍ وَ اَجْوَدَ مَسْئُوْلٍ هَرَبْتُ اِلَيْكَ بِنَفْسِيْ يَا مَلْجَاَ الْهَارِبِيْنَ، بِاَثْقَالِ الذُّنُوْبِ اَحْمِلُهَا عَلٰى ظَهْرِيْ لَاۤ اَجِدُ لِيْ اِلَيْكَ شَافِعًا سِوٰى مَعْرِفَتِيْ بِاَنَّكَ اَقْرَبُ مَنْ رَجَاهُ الطَّالِبُوْنَ وَ اَمَّلَ مَا لَدَيْهِ الرَّاغِبُوْنَ يَا مَنْ فَتَقَ الْعُقُوْلَ بِمَعْرِفَتِهٖ وَ اَطْلَقَ الْاَلْسُنَ بِحَمْدِهٖ وَ جَعَلَ مَا امْتَنَّ بِهٖ عَلٰى عِبَادِهٖ فِي كِفَاۤءٍ لِتَاْدِيَةِ حَقِّهٖ اَنَالَ بِهٖ حَقَّهٗ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِهِ وَ لَا تَجْعَلْ لِّلشَّيْطَانِ عَلٰى عَقْلِيْ سَبِيْلًا وَ لَا لِلْبَاطِلِ عَلٰى عَمَلِيْ دَلِيْلًا.

ALLAAHUMMA SALLI A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALIHI WA HAB LIYAL GHADAATA RIZAAKA WA ASKIN QALBEE KHAWFAKA WAQTA'HU A'MMAN SIWAAKA HATTAA LAA ARJOO WA LAA AKHAAFA ILLAA IYYAAKA ALLAAHUMMA SALLI A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALIHI WA HAB LEE SABAATAL YAQEENI WA MAHZAL IKHLAASI WA SHARAFAT TAWHEEDI WA DAWAAMAL ISTIQAAMATI WA MA'DINAS SABRI WAR RIZAA BIL QAZAA-I WAL QADARI YAA QAAZIYA HAWAA-IJIS SAA-ILEENA YAA MAN YA'LAMU MAA FEE ZAMEERIS SAAMITEENA SALLI A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALIH, WASTAJIB DU'AA-EE WAGHFIR ZANBEE WA AWSI' RIZQEE WAQZI HAWAA-IJEE FEE NAFSEE WA IKHWAANEE FEE DEENEE WA AHLEE ILAAHEE TUMOOHUL AAMAALI QAD KHAABAT ILLAA LADAYKA WA MA'AAKIFUL HIMAMI QAD TA'ATTALAT ILLAA A'LAYKA WA MAZAAHIBUL 'UQOOLI QAD SAMAT ILLAA ILAYKA FA-ANTAR RAJAA-U WA ILAYKAL MULTAJA-U YAA AKRAMA MAQSOODIN WA AJWADA MAS-OOLIN HARABTU ILAYKA BINAFSEE YAA MALJA-AL HAARIBEEN, BI-ASQAALIZ ZUNOOBI AHMILUHAA A'LAA ZAHREE LAA AJIDU LEE ILAYKA SHAAFI'AN SIWAA MA'RIFATEE BI-ANNAKA AQRABU MAN RAJAAHUT TAALIBOONA WA AMMALA MAA LADAYHIR RAAGHIBOONA YAA MAN FATAQAL 'UQOOLA BIMA'RIFATIHEE WA ATLAQAL ALSUNA BIHAMDIHEE WA JA'ALA MAAMTANNA BIHEE A'LAA I'BAADIHEE FEE KIFAA-IN LITA'DIYATI HAQQIHEE ANAALA BIHEE HAQQAHOO SALLI A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALIHI WA LAA TAJ'AL LILSHSHAYTAANI A'LAA A'QLEE SABEELAN WA LAA LILBAATILI A'LAA A'MALEE DALEELAA.

O Allah, send blessings to Muhammad and his Household, grant me this morning Your pleasure, settle fear of You in my heart, and sever it from all others than You, so that I neither hope nor fear except You. O Allah, send blessings to Muhammad and his Household, and grant me firmness of certitude, pure sincerity, the honour of believing in Your Oneness, constant steadfastness, a wellspring of patience, and contentment with Your decree and destiny. O He Who settles the needs of the askers! O He Who knows what lies in the hearts of the silent! Send blessings to Muhammad and his Household, answer my prayer, forgive my sin, expand my sustenance, and settle my needs regarding myself, my brethren in faith, and my family. My God, the highest hopes have been disappointed except with You, the devotions of resolve have come to a standstill except before You, and the ways of the intellects lead nowhere except to You. You are the hope, and to You is the refuge. O most Generous of those who are sought, and most Magnanimous of those who are asked! I have fled to You with my soul, O Refuge of those who flee, carrying on my back the burdens of sins, and I find no intercessor for me with You other than my knowledge that You are the nearest of those whom the seekers hope for and in whose possession the desirous place their hopes. O He Who has opened the minds with the knowledge of Him, released the tongues with His praise, and made what He has favoured His servants with sufficient for fulfilling His right: send blessings to Muhammad and his Household, and do not give Satan any way over my reason, nor falsehood any guide over my deeds.
