Merits
Tuhfat al-Za'ir records that Imam al-Sadiq (a) said: whoever wants his request granted by Allah, or fears something, may write this supplication on a white patch, fold it into a dried ball of clay, and cast it into running water — Allah will relieve him of his distress.
Text and Translation
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM
In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّيْۤ اَتَوَجَّهُ اِلَيْكَ بِاَحَبِّ الْاَسْمَاۤءِ اِلَيْكَ وَ اَعْظَمِهَا لَدَيْكَ
ALLAAHUMMA INNEE ATAWAJJAHU ILAYKA BI-AHABBIL ASMAAA-I ILAYKA WA A'ZAMIHAA LADAYKA
O Allah, I turn my face toward You by the Names most beloved to You and greatest in Your view,
وَ اَتَقَرَّبُ وَ اَتَوَسَّلُ اِلَيْكَ بِمَنْ اَوْجَبْتَ حَقَّهُ عَلَيْكَ
WA ATAQARRABU WA ATAWASSALU ILAYKA BI-MAN AWJABTA HAQQAHU A'LAYKA
and I draw near and appeal to You through the one whose right You have made incumbent upon Yourself,
وَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلِيٍّ وَ فَاطِمَةَ وَ الْحَسَنِ وَ الْحُسَيْنِ
WA BI-MUHAMMADIN WA A'LEE-YIN WA FAATIMATA WAL HASANI WAL HUSAYN
and through Muhammad, Ali, Fatimah, al-Hasan, and al-Husayn,
وَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ وَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ وَ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ
WA A'LEE-YIBNIL HUSAYNI WA MUHAMMADIBNI A'LEE-YIN WA JA'FARIBNI MUHAMMAD
Ali son of al-Husayn, Muhammad son of Ali, Ja'far son of Muhammad,
وَ مُوْسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ وَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُوْسٰى وَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ
WA MOOSAA IBNI JA'FARIN WA A'LEE-YIBNI MOOSAA WA MUHAMMADIBNI A'LEE-YIN
Musa son of Ja'far, Ali son of Musa, Muhammad son of Ali,
وَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ وَ الْحُجَّةِ الْمُنْتَظَرِ
WA A'LEE-YIBNI MUHAMMADIN WAL HASANIBNI A'LEE-YIN WAL HUJJATIL MUNTAZAR
Ali son of Muhammad, al-Hasan son of Ali, and the Awaited Proof,
صَلَوَاتُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْهِمْ اَجْمَعِيْنَ
SALAWAATUL LAAHI A'LAYHIM AJMA-E'EN
Allah's blessings be upon them all,
اِكْفِنِيْ
IKFINEE
suffice me...
