Merits
In his book of Jamal al-Usbu', Sayyid Ibn Tawus has reported the following from Shaykh al-Tal'akbari through his own chain of authority connected to Zayd ibn Thabit:
One day, a man from the Bedouins stood up before the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) and said, "May Allah accept my father and mother as ransoms for you, O Allah's Messenger. We live in the desert away from al-Madinah and it is not feasible for us to present ourselves every Friday before you. I therefore want you to teach me an act which collects the rewards of performing the Friday Prayer, so that when I return to my people I will teach it to them."
The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) taught him this prayer, and then said: "I swear by Him Who has sent me and chosen me in truth, I will certainly guarantee Paradise for any believer, man or woman, who offers this prayer exactly as I have explained. Moreover, he who offers this prayer will not leave his place before Almighty Allah has forgiven his and his parents' sins, given him the reward of every individual who performed a prayer in all regions of the Muslims, recorded for him the reward of every individual in the east and the west of the earth who observed fasting and offered prayers on that day, and given him rewards that no eye has ever seen and no ear has ever heard."
Text and Translation
When the daylight rises, offer a two-unit prayer. In the first unit, recite [Surah al-Fatihah](A5) once and [Surah al-Falaq](A117) seven times; in the second, [Surah al-Fatihah](A5) once and [Surah al-Nas](A118) seven times. After the taslim, recite [Ayat al-Kursi](A4) seven times.
Then offer eight units of prayer with two taslims: sit after every two units without saying the taslim, and say the taslim after the fourth unit; then offer the other four units in the same way. In each unit, recite [Surah al-Fatihah](A5) once, [Surah al-Nasr](A114) once and [Surah al-Tawhid](A116) twenty-five times.
After the tashahhud and taslim, repeat the following supplication seven times:
يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّوْمُ يَا ذَا الْجَلَالِ وَالْاِكْرَامِ
YAA HAYYU YAA QAYYOOMU YAA DHAL JALAALI WAL IKRAAM
O Ever-living! O Self-subsisting! O Lord of Majesty and Honor!
YAA ILAAHAL AWWALEENA WAL AAKHIREEN
O God of the first and the last!
YAA ARHAMAR RAAHIMEEN
O Most Merciful of all who show mercy!
YAA RAHMAANAD DUNYAA WAL AAKHIRATI WA RAHEEMAHUMAA
O Beneficent of this world and the Hereafter, and Merciful in both!
YAA RABBI YAA RABBI YAA RABBI YAA RABBI YAA RABBI YAA RABBI YAA RABB
O my Lord! (seven times)
YAA ALLAAHU YAA ALLAAHU YAA ALLAAHU YAA ALLAAHU YAA ALLAAHU YAA ALLAAHU YAA ALLAAH
O Allah! (seven times)
SALLI A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALIHEE WAGHFIR LEE
Send blessings upon Muhammad and his Household, and forgive me.
You may now mention what you need. Then repeat the following seventy times:
لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيْمِ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيْمِ
LAA HAWLA WA LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAAHIL A'LIYYIL A'ZEEMI SUBHAANALLAAHI RABBIL A'RSHIL KAREEM
There is no might and no strength save in Allah, the High, the Great. Glory be to Allah, Lord of the Honored Throne.
Then say:
SUBHAANALLAAHI RABBIL A'RSHIL KAREEM
Glory be to Allah, Lord of the Honored Throne.
In his book of Misbah al-Mutahajjid, Shaykh al-Tusi has described this prayer without the supplication above; instead, he says that when you finish the prayer, repeat the following seventy times:
سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيْمِ وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّا بِاللّٰهِ الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيْمِ
SUBHAANALLAAHI RABBIL A'RSHIL KAREEMI WA LAA HAWLA WA LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAAHIL A'LIYYIL A'ZEEM
Glory be to Allah, Lord of the Honored Throne. There is no might and no strength save in Allah, the High, the Great.
