It is reported that a man came to the Holy Prophet (s) and said, "I have many dependants and I am suffering too much because of debts. Therefore, instruct me a supplication by which Almighty Allah will provide me sustenance so that I can settle my debts and cover the needs of my dependants." The Holy Prophet (s) taught him to do the following: perform the ritual ablution very accurately, then offer a two-unit prayer with accurate genuflection (ruku') and prostration. Upon accomplishment, say the following supplication:
YAA MAAJIDU YAA WAAHIDU YAA KAREEM
O Majestic, O One, O Generous,
ATAWAJJAHU ILAYKA BI-MUHAMMADIN NABIYYIKA NABIYYIR RAHMATI SALLALLAAHU A'LAYHI WA AALIH
I turn towards You through Muhammad, Your Prophet, the Prophet of mercy — Allah's blessings be upon him and his Household —
YAA MUHAMMADU YAA RASOOLALLAAH
O Muhammad, O Messenger of Allah,
INNEE ATAWAJJAHU BIKA ILALLAAHI RABBEE WA RABBIKA WA RABBI KULLI SHAY-IN
verily I turn through you towards Allah, my Lord and your Lord and the Lord of all things,
WA AS-ALUKAL LAAHUMMA AN TUSALLIYA A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AHLI BAYTIH
and I ask You, O Allah, to send blessings upon Muhammad and the people of his household,
WA AS-ALUKA NAFHATAN KAREEMATAM MIN NAFAHAATIKA WA FATHAN YASEERAN WA RIZQAN WAASI'AA
and I ask You for a generous waft from among Your gracious wafts, an easy triumph, and an abundant sustenance
ALUMMU BIHI SHA'ATHEE WA AQDEE BIHI DAYNEE WA ASTA'EENU BIHI A'LAA A'YAALEE
with which I may gather my scattered affairs, settle my debt, and seek help for the sake of my dependants.
