Text and Translation

ANOTHER NAMAZ FOR SETTLING THE NEEDS

This prayer has been reported by a big number of scholars, such as Shaykh al-Mufid, al-Tusi, Sayyid Ibn Tawus, and many others, from Imam al-Sadiq(a.s.). However, according to the report of Sayyid Ibn Tawus, the way of offering this prayer is as follows:

When you have an urgent need and you wish Almighty Allah to grant it for you, you may observe fasting on three successive days; Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. On Friday, you may bathe yourself, dress yourself with a new, clean costume, go up to the highest point in your house, and offer a two-unit prayer. Then, you may raise your hands towards the sky and say the following supplication:

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْ حَلَلْتُ بِسَاحَتِكَ لِمَعْرِفَتِىْ بِوَحْدَانِيَّتِكَ وَ صَمَدَانِيَّتِكَ وَ اَنَّهٗ لَا قَادِرَ عَلٰى قَضَاۤءِ حَاجَتِىْ غَيْرُكَ وَ قَدْ عَلِمْتُ يَا رَبِّ اَنَّهٗ كُلَّمَا تَظَاهَرَتْ نِعْمَتُكَ عَلَىَّ اشْتَدَّتْ فَاقَتِىْ اِلَيْكَ وَ قَدْ طَرَقَنِىْ هَمُّ كَذَا وَ كَذَا.

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE HALALTU BISAAHATIKA LIMA'RIFATEE BIWAHDAANIYYATIKA WA SAMADAANIYYATIKA WA ANNAHOO LAA QAADIRA A'LAA QAZAA-I HAAJATEE GHAYRUKA WA QAD A'LIMTU YAA RABBI ANNAHOO KULLAMAA TAZAAHARAT NI'MATUKA A'LAYYASHTADDAT FAAQATEE ILAYKA WA QAD TARAQANEE HAMMU KAZAA WA KAZAA.

O Allah, I have come to Your courtyard because I know Your Oneness and Your Self-Sufficiency, and that none but You has the power to settle my need. And I know, O my Lord, that whenever Your bounties upon me increase, my need for You grows more intense. Such-and-such a worry has now befallen me.

You should now mention your problem and then keep on, saying:

وَ اَنْتَ بِكَشْفِهٖ عَالِمٌ غَيْرُ مُعَلَّمٍ وَاسِعٌ غَيْرُ مُتَكَلِّفٍ فَاَسْئَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذِىْ وَضَعْتَهٗ عَلَى الْجِبَالِ فَنُسِفَتْ وَ وَضَعْتَهٗ عَلَى السَّمٰوَاتِ فَانْشَقَّتْ وَ عَلَى النُّجُوْمِ فَانْتَثَرَتْ وَ عَلَى الْاَرْضِ فَسُطِحَتْ وَ اَسْئَلُكَ بِالْحَقِّ الَّذِىْ جَعَلْتَهٗ عِنْدَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ اٰلِهٖ وَ عِنْدَ عَلِىٍّ وَّ الْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَيْنِ وَ عَلِىٍّ وَّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ جَعْفَرٍ وَّ مُوْسٰى وَ عَلِىٍّ وَّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ عَلِىٍّ وَّالْحَسَنِ وَ الْحُجَّةِ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلَامُ اَنْ تُصَلِّىَ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اَهْلِ بَيْتِهٖ وَ اَنْ تَقْضِىَ لِىْ حَاجَتِىْ وَ تُيَسِّرَ لِىْ عَسِيْرَهَا وَ تَكْفِيَنِىْ مُهِمَّهَا فَاِنْ فَعَلْتَ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ وَ اِنْ لَمْ تَفْعَلْ فَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ غَيْرُ جَاۤئِرٍ فِىْ حُكْمِكَ وَلَا مُتَّهَمٍ فِىْ قَضَاۤئِكَ وَ لَا حَاۤئِفٍ فِىْ عَدْلِكَ.

WA ANTA BIKASHFIHEE A'ALIMUN GHAYRU MU'ALLAMIN WAASI'UN GHAYRU MUTAKALLIFIN FA-AS-ALUKA BISMIKAL LAZEE WAZA'TAHOO A'LAL JIBAALI FANUSIFAT WA WAZA'TAHOO A'LAS SAMAAWAATI FANSHAQQAT WA A'LAN NUJOOMI FANTASARAT WA A'LAL ARZI FASUTIHAT WA AS-ALUKA BIL HAQQIL LAZEE JA'ALTAHOO I'NDA MUHAMMADIN SALLAL LAAHU A'LAYHI WA AALIHEE WA I'NDA A'LIYYIN WAL HASANI WAL HUSAYNI WA A'LIYYIN WA MUHAMMADIN WA JA'FARIN WA MOOSAA WA A'LIYYIN WA MUHAMMADIN WA A'LIYYIN WAL HASANI WAL HUJJATI A'LAYHIMUS SALAAMU AN TUSALLIYA A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AHLI BAYTIHEE WA AN TAQZIYA LEE HAAJATEE WA TUYASSIRA LEE A'SEERAHAA WA TAKFIYANEE MUHIMMAHAA FA-IN FA'ALTA FALAKAL HAMDU WA IN LAM TAF'AL FALAKAL HAMDU GHAYRU JAA-IRIN FEE HUKMIKA WALAA MUTTAHAMIN FEE QAZAA-IKA WA LAA HAA-IFIN FEE A'DLIK.

And You know how to remove it without being taught, and are capable of it without being burdened. So I beseech You in the name of Your Name that You placed upon the mountains and they were blown away, that You placed upon the heavens and they were split asunder, upon the stars and they were scattered, and upon the earth and it was spread out. And I beseech You in the name of the right that You have placed with Muhammad, Allah's blessings be upon him and his Household, and with 'Ali, al-Hasan, al-Husayn, 'Ali, Muhammad, Ja'far, Musa, 'Ali, Muhammad, 'Ali, al-Hasan, and al-Hujjah, peace be upon them, to send blessings to Muhammad and his Household, to settle my need, to make its difficulty easy for me, and to suffice me in its hardship. If You do so, then all praise is Yours; and if You do not, then all praise is still Yours, for You are not unjust in Your judgment, nor suspect in Your decree, nor biased in Your justice.

You may then put your face on the ground and say the following supplication:

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنَّ يُوْنُسَ بْنَ مَتّٰى عَبْدُكَ دَعَاكَ فِىْ بَطْنِ الْحُوْتِ وَ هُوَ عَبْدُكَ فَاسْتَجَبْتَ لَهٗ وَ اَنَا عَبْدُكَ اَدْعُوْكَ فَاسْتَجِبْ لِىْ.

ALLAAHUMMA INNA YOONUSA BNA MATTAA A'BDUKA DA'AAKA FEE BATNIL HOOTI WA HUWA A'BDUKA FASTAJABTA LAHOO WA ANAA A'BDUKA AD'OOKA FASTAJIB LEE.

O Allah, Yunus the son of Matta, Your servant, called upon You in the belly of the fish, and he was Your servant, and You answered him. I am Your servant, calling upon You, so answer me.

Imam al-Sadiq(a.s.) said, “Many times, I had many needs to be settled by Almighty Allah. I therefore said this supplication and came back having my need settled for me.”
