In al-Balad al-Amin, the Holy Prophet (s) is reported to have said: whoever says these words ten times every day, Almighty Allah will forgive four thousand of his grave sins, save him from the agonies of death, the pressure of the grave, and a hundred of the horrors of the Resurrection Day, save him from the evil of Iblis and his troops, help him settle his debts, and relieve him of his distress, grief, and anguish:
A'DADTU LI-KULLI HAWLIN LAA ILAAHA ILLAL LAAHO WA LI-KULLI HAMMIW WA GHAMMIM MAA SHAAA-AL LAAH
For every terror I have prepared "there is no god but Allah"; for every anxiety and grief, "what Allah wills";
WA LI-KULLI NI'MATIN ALHAMDU LILLAAHI WA LI-KULLI RAKHAAA-IN ASH-SHUKRU LILLAAH WA LI-KULLI U'JOOBATIN SUBHAANAL LAAH
for every blessing, "praise be to Allah"; for every ease, "thanks be to Allah"; for every wonder, "glory be to Allah";
WA LI-KULLI ZAMBIN ASTAGHFIRUL LAAH WA LI-KULLI MUSEEBATIN INNAA LILLAAHI WA INNAA ILAYHI RAAJI-O'ON
for every sin, "I seek Allah's forgiveness"; for every calamity, "verily we belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return";
WA LI-KULLI DEEQIN HASBIYAL LAAH WA LI-KULLI QADAAA-IW WA QADARIN TAWAKKALTU A'LAL LAAH
for every hardship, "Allah is sufficient for me"; for every decree and destiny, "I put my trust in Allah";
WA LI-KULLI A'DUWWIN A'TASAMTU BILLAAH WA LI-KULLI TAA-A'TIW WA MA'SIYATIN LAA HAWLA WA LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAAHIL A'LIYYIL A'ZEEM
for every enemy, "I hold fast to Allah"; and for every obedience and disobedience, "there is no power and no strength except with Allah, the Most High, the All-magnificent."
Al-Kulayni, Ibn Babawayh, and al-Barqi report through valid chains that Imam al-Sadiq (a) said: whoever repeats the following ten times every day, Allah will record for him forty-five thousand rewards, erase forty-five thousand of his sins, and raise him forty-five thousand ranks toward Paradise; it will shelter him against Satan and despotic rulers, and no grave sin will surround him. According to another narration, he will be granted the reward of one who has recited the entire Qur'an twelve times, and Allah will build him a house in Paradise. Ibn Babawayh's narration does not specify that it must be repeated ten times:
ASH-HADU AL LAA ILAAHA ILLAL LAAHO WAHDAHU LAA SHAREEKA LAHU ILAAHAW WAAHIDAN AHADAN SAMADAL LAM YATTAKHIZ SAAHIBATAW WA LAA WALADAA
I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, with no partner unto Him, one God, singular, self-sufficient, Who has taken no consort and no son.
In Thawab al-A'mal, al-Mahasin, and al-Kafi, Imam al-Sadiq (a) quotes the Holy Prophet (s) as saying: whoever repeats the following fifteen times every day, Allah will receive him with His Face and will not turn away from him before he enters Paradise:
LAA ILAAHA ILLAL LAAHO HAQQAN HAQQAA LAA ILAAHA ILLAL LAAHO EEMAANAW WA TASDEEQAA LAA ILAAHA ILLAL LAAHO U'BOODIYYATAW WA RIQQAA
There is no god but Allah, in very truth; there is no god but Allah, in faith and affirmation; there is no god but Allah, in servitude and bondage.
In al-Mahasin, from the Holy Prophet (s): to glorify Allah a hundred times every day is better than offering a hundred camels to the Holy House of Allah:
SUBHAANAL LAAH
Glory be to Allah.
To praise Allah a hundred times every day is better than manumitting a hundred slaves:
ALHAMDU LILLAAH
Praise be to Allah.
To profess Allah's greatness a hundred times every day is better than offering a hundred horses, with their saddles and reins, in the way of Allah:
ALLAAHO AKBAR
Allah is the Greatest.
To profess Allah as the one and only God a hundred times every day is better than the deeds of all people, except those who repeat it more than a hundred times:
LAA ILAAHA ILLAL LAAH
There is no god but Allah.
Al-Qutb al-Rawandi relates: a worshipper among the Children of Israel asked Allah, "O Lord, what is my status with You? If it is praiseworthy, I will add to my good deeds; but if it is blameworthy, I will repent before I die." Allah sent an angel to tell him he had no good standing with Allah at all — for whenever he did a good deed he had told people about it so they would call him virtuous, so he had already taken his reward from them. Grieved, the man was then told: purchase yourself from Allah with alms given every day for each of your veins. He asked, "O Lord, is any creature able to do that?" Allah instructed him to repeat the following three hundred and sixty times every day, the number of his veins:
SUBHAANAL LAAHI WAL HAMDU LILLAAHI WA LAA ILAAHA ILLAL LAAHO WALLAAHO AKBAR WA LAA HAWLA WA LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAAH
Glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, Allah is the Greatest, and there is no power and no strength except with Allah.
The man asked for more, and Allah told him: if you add to the number, I will add to you.
Al-Kulayni reports through a valid chain that Imam al-Sadiq (a) said the Holy Prophet (s) used to repeat the following three hundred and sixty times every day, the number of the veins:
ALHAMDU LILLAAHI RABBIL A'ALAMEENA KATHEERAN A'LAA KULLI HAAL
Abundant praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, in every state.
