Merits of reciting Ayah Kursi (2: 255), Ayah Al Shahadah, Ayah Al Mulk after every Namaz

Text and Translation

Imam al-Sadiq (a), through an authenticated chain, is reported to have said: when the following verses were ordered by Allah to descend to the earth, they clung to the Divine Throne and said, 'O Lord, where are You sending us — to a people of sin and wrongdoing?' Allah revealed to them: 'Descend! I swear by My Might and Majesty: none of Muhammad's family or their Shi'a recites you but that I look upon him with My Hidden Eye seventy times each day, settling seventy of his needs in every look and accepting him despite his disobedience.' In another version of the same tradition, Allah says: 'Whoever recites these verses right after every prayer, I will shelter him under My Sanctity despite his disobedience. If not that, I will settle seventy of his needs every day, the least of which is that I forgive his sins. If not that either, I will protect him from Satan and every enemy of his, grant him victory over them, and nothing will keep him from Paradise except death.' These verses are:

(1) [Surah al-Faatehah](A5).

(2) [Ayat al-Kursi](A4) (2:255-257).

(3) The Verse of Bearing Witness (Ayah al-Shahadah, 3:18-19):

شَهِدَ اللّٰهُ اَنَّهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ وَالْمَلَاۤئِكَةُ وَاُوْلُوا الْعِلْمِ قاۤئِمًا بِالْقِسْطِ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ الْعَزِيْزُ الْحَكِيْمُ

SHAHIDAL LAAHU ANNAHU LAA ILAAHA ILLAA HUWA WAL MALAAA-IKATU WA ULUL I'LMI QAAA-IMAM BIL QIST LAA ILAAHA ILLAA HUWAL A'ZEEZUL HAKEEM

Allah bears witness that there is no god but He, and so do the angels and those endowed with knowledge, maintaining justice; there is no god but He, the All-mighty, the All-wise.

اِنَّ الدِّيْنَ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ الْاِسْلَامُ وَمَا اخْتَلَفَ الَّذِيْنَ اُوْتُوا الْكِتَابَ اِلَّا مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا جاۤئَهُمُ الْعِلْمُ بَغْيًا بَيْنَهُمْ وَمَنْ يَكْفُرْ بِاۤيَاتِ اللّٰهِ فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ سَرِيْعُ الْحِسَابِ

INNAD DEENA I'NDAL LAAHIL ISLAAM WA MAKH TALAFAL LAZEENA OOTUL KITAABA ILLAA MIM BA'DI MAA JAAA-AHUMUL I'LMU BAGHYAM BAYNAHUM WA MAY YAKFUR BI-AAYAATIL LAAHI FA-INNAL LAAHA SAREE-U'L HISAAB

Verily, the true religion in the sight of Allah is Islam, and those who were given the Book differed only after knowledge had come to them, out of rivalry among themselves; and whoever disbelieves in the signs of Allah — then indeed Allah is swift in reckoning.

(4) The Verse of Sovereignty (Ayah al-Mulk, 3:26-27):

قُلِ اللّٰهُمَّ مَالِكَ الْمُلْكِ تُؤْتِى الْمُلْكَ مَنْ تَشَاۤءُ وَ تَنْزِعُ الْمُلْكَ مِمَّنْ تَشاۤءُ وَتُعِزُّ مَنْ تَشاۤءُ وَتُذِلُّ مَنْ تَشاۤءُ بِيَدِكَ الْخَيْرُ اِنَّكَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ

QULIL LAAHUMMA MAALIKAL MULKI TU'TIL MULKA MAN TASHAAA-O WA TANZI-U'L MULKA MIMMAN TASHAAA-O WA TU-I'ZZU MAN TASHAAA-O WA TUZILLU MAN TASHAAA-O BI-YADIKAL KHAYR INNAKA A'LAA KULLI SHAY-IN QADEER

Say: O Allah, Master of the Kingdom, You give sovereignty to whom You will and You take sovereignty away from whom You will; You exalt whom You will and You abase whom You will; in Your hand is all good; verily You have power over all things.

تُوْلِجُ اللَّيْلَ فِى النَّهَارِ وَتُوْلِجُ النَّهَارَ فِى اللَّيْلِ وَتُخْرِجُ الْحَىَّ مِنَ الْمَيِّتِ وَتُخْرِجُ الْمَيِّتَ مِنَ الْحَىِّ وَتَرْزُقُ مَنْ تَشاۤءُ بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍ

TOOLIJUL LAYLA FIN NAHAARI WA TOOLIJUN NAHAARA FIL LAYLI WA TUKHRIJUL HAYYA MINAL MAYYITI WA TUKHRIJUL MAYYITA MINAL HAYYI WA TARZUQU MAN TASHAAA-O BI-GHAYRI HISAAB

You cause the night to enter into the day and You cause the day to enter into the night; You bring forth the living from the dead and You bring forth the dead from the living; and You provide for whom You will without account.
