Importance of reciting of Qulho wallaho Ahad

Text and Translation

Thirty-sixth: Imam Ali (a) is also reported to have said that whoever recites [Surah al-Tawheed](A116) three times before going to sleep, Almighty Allah will order fifty thousand angels to guard him that night.

Imam al-Sadiq (a) is likewise reported to have said, "Whoever spends a whole day on which he performs the five obligatory prayers without reciting Surah al-Tawheed will not be counted as a performer of prayers."

He (a) is also reported to have said, "Whoever spends a whole week without reciting Surah al-Tawheed and then dies will die following the religion of Abu-Lahab."

He (a) is also reported as saying, "Whoever is afflicted by an ailment or a hardship but does not recite Surah al-Tawheed during his ailment or hardship, and then dies, will be one of the inhabitants of Hellfire."

Thirty-seventh: quoted from 'Uddat al-Da'i too, this supplicatory amulet may be used to protect plants of watermelon, cucumber, and the like from damage caused by worms and other animals. On four reeds or four parchments, write down the following statements; the parchments may be put inside the four reeds, and then each one fixed at the four sides of the farm:

اَيُّهَا الدُّوْدُ اَيُّهَا الدَّوَاۤبُّ وَالْهَوَاۤمُّ وَالْحَيَوَانَاتُ اُخْرُجُوْا مِنْ هٰذِهِ الْاَرْضِ وَالزَّرْعِ اِلَى الْخَرَابِ كَمَا خَرَجَ ابْنُ مَتّٰى مِنْ بَطْنِ الْحُوْتِ فَاِنْ لَمْ تَخْرُجُوْا اَرْسَلْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ شُوَاظًا مِّنْ نَّارٍ وَّ نُحَاسٍ فَلَا تَنْتَصِرَانِ

AYYUHAD DOODU AYYUHAD DAWAAA-BBU WAL HAWAAA-MMU WAL HAYAWAANAAT, UKHRUJOO MIN HAAZIHIL ARDI WAZ ZAR-I' ILAL KHARAABI KAMAA KHARAJAB-NU MATTAA MIM BATNIL HOOT, FA-IL LAM TAKHRUJOO ARSALTU A'LAYKUM SHUWAAZAM MIN NAARIW WA NUHAASIN FA-LAA TANTASIRAAN

O worms, O crawling creatures and vermin and beasts, go forth from this land and this crop into ruin, as the son of Matta (Jonah) went forth from the belly of the whale; and if you do not go forth, I will send upon you a flame of fire and molten brass, and you shall not be helped,

اَلَمْ تَرَ اِلَى الَّذِيْنَ خَرَجُوْا مِنْ دِيَارِهِمْ وَ هُمْ اُلُوْفٌ حَذَرَ الْمَوْتِ فَقَالَ لَهُمُ اللّٰهُ مُوْتُوْا فَمَاتُوْا اُخْرُجُوْا مِنْهَا فَاِنَّكَ رَجِيْمٌ فَخَرَجَ مِنْهَا خَاۤئِفًا يَّتَرَقَّبُ سُبْحَانَ الَّذِىْۤ اَسْرٰى بِعَبْدِهٖ لَيْلًا مِّنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ اِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ الْاَقْصٰى

ALAM TARA ILAL LAZEENA KHARAJOO MIN DIYAARIHIM WA HUM ULOOFUN HAZARAL MAWTI FA-QAALA LAHUMULLAAHU MOOTOO FA-MAATOO, UKHRUJOO MINHAA FA-INNAKA RAJEEM, FA-KHARAJA MINHAA KHAAA-IFAY YATARAQQAB, SUBHAANAL LAZEE ASRAA BI-A'BDIHI LAYLAM MINAL MASJIDIL HARAAMI ILAL MASJIDIL AQSAA

Have you not regarded those who went forth from their homes, thousands, fearing death, and Allah said to them, 'Die,' and they died? Go forth from it, for verily you are accursed. So he went forth from it, fearful, vigilant. Glory be to Him Who took His servant by night from the Sacred Mosque to the Farthest Mosque,

كَاَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوْۤا اِلَّا عَشِيَّةً اَوْ ضُحٰهَا فَاَخْرَجْنَاهُمْ مِّنْ جَنَّاتٍ وَّ عُيُوْنٍ وَّ زُرُوْعٍ وَّ مَقَامٍ كَرِيْمٍ وَّ نِعْمَةٍ كَانُوْا فِيْهَا فَاكِهِيْنَ فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّمَاۤءُ وَالْاَرْضُ وَ مَا كَانُوْا مُنْظَرِيْنَ

KA-ANNAHUM YAWMA YARAWNAHAA LAM YALBASOOO ILLAA A'SHIYYATAN AW DUHAAHAA, FA-AKHRAJNAAHUM MIN JANNAATIW WA U'YOONIW WA ZUROO-I'W WA MAQAAMIN KAREEMIW WA NI'MATIN KAANOO FEEHAA FAAKIHEEN, FA-MAA BAKAT A'LAYHIMUS SAMAAA-U WAL ARDU WA MAA KAANOO MUNZAREEN

as if, on the day they see it, they had not tarried except an evening or a morning thereof. So We expelled them from gardens and springs and crops and a noble station, and bliss in which they were rejoicing; thus it was, and neither the heaven nor the earth wept for them, nor were they given respite,

اُخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَمَا يَكُوْنُ لَكَ اَنْ تَتَكَبَّرَ فِيْهَا فَاخْرُجْ اِنَّكَ مِنَ الصَّاغِرِيْنَ اُخْرُجْ مِنْهَا مَذْؤُوْمًا مَّدْحُوْرًا فَلَنَاْتِيَنَّهُمْ بِجُنُوْدٍ لَّا قِبَلَ لَهُمْ بِهَا وَ لَنُخْرِجَنَّهُمْ مِّنْهَاۤ اَذِلَّةً وَّ هُمْ صَاغِرُوْنَ

UKHRUJ MINHAA FA-MAA YAKOONU LAKA AN TATAKABBARA FEEHAA FAKHRUJ INNAKA MINAS SAAGHIREEN, UKHRUJ MINHAA MAZ-OOOMAM MADHOORAA, FA-LA-NA-TIYANNAHUM BI-JUNOODIL LAA QIBALA LAHUM BIHAA WA LA-NUKHRIJANNAHUM MINHAAA AZILLATAW WA HUM SAAGHIROON

get out of it, for it is not for you to be arrogant in it; so get out, for you are of the abased ones. Get out of it, disgraced and expelled. We shall surely bring against them hosts they cannot resist, and We shall surely drive them out of it, abased and humbled.
