Imam Baqir's (a) dua

Text and Translation

Abu-Hamzah al-Thumali reports: I once stood at the door of Imam al-Baqir's (a) house awaiting permission to enter. The Imam came out reciting something and asked, "Did you hear these words of mine?" "Yes," I said, "may I be ransomed for you!" He said, "I was reciting words that no one says but that Allah, the Exalted, relieves him of whatever distresses him, in this world and the next." I said, "May I be ransomed for you — will you teach them to me?" He said, "Yes. Whoever says these before leaving his house, all his concerns are made easy":

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ حَسْبِىَ اللهُ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللهِ

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM HASBIYAL LAAHO TAWAKKALTU A'LAL LAAH

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful; Allah is sufficient for me, I put my trust in Allah.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْۤ اَسْاَلُكَ خَيْرَ اُمُوْرِىْ كُلِّهَا وَ اَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ خِزْىِ الدُّنْيَا وَ عَذَابِ الْاٰخِرَةِ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE AS-ALUKA KHAYRA UMOOREE KULLIHAA WA A-U'ZU BIKA MIN KHIZYID DUNYAA WA A'ZAABIL AAKHIRAH

O Allah, I ask You for the best of all my affairs, and I seek refuge in You from the disgrace of this world and the punishment of the Hereafter.
