Imam al-Jawad's supplication

Text and Translation

اَللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّ الْاَرْوَاحِ الْفَانِيَةِ وَ الْاَجْسَادِ الْبَالِيَةِ اَسْاَلُكَ بِطَاعَةِ الْاَرْوَاحِ الرَّاجِعَةِ اِلٰى اَجْسَادِهَا وَ بِطَاعَةِ الْاَجْسَادِ الْمُلْتَئِمَةِ بِعُرُوْقِهَا وَ بِكَلِمَتِكَ النَّافِذَةِ بَيْنَهُمْ وَ اَخْذِكَ الْحَقَّ مِنْهُمْ وَ الْخَلَاۤئِقُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ يَنْتَظِرُوْنَ فَصْلَ قَضَاۤئِكَ وَ يَرْجُوْنَ رَحْمَتَكَ وَ يَخَافُوْنَ عِقَابَكَ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اجْعَلِ النُّوْرَ فِي بَصَرِيْ وَ الْيَقِيْنَ فِي قَلْبِيْ وَ ذِكْرَكَ بِاللَّيْلِ وَ النَّهَارِ عَلٰى لِسَانِيْ وَ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا فَارْزُقْنِيْ۔

ALLAAHUMMA RABBAL ARWAAHIL FAANIYAH, WAL AJSAADIL BAALIYAH, AS-ALUKA BI-TAA-A'TIL ARWAAHIR RAAJI-A'TI ILAAA AJSAADIHAA, WA BI-TAA-A'TIL AJSAADIL MULTAA-IMATI BI-U'ROOQIHAA, WA BI-KALIMATIKAN NAAFIZATI BAYNAHUM, WA AKHZIKAL HAQQA MINHUM, WAL KHALAAA-IQU BAYNA YADAYKA YANTAZIROONA FASLA QADAAA-IK, WA YARJOONA RAHMATAK, WA YAKHAAFOONA I'QAABAK, SALLI A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALI MUHAMMAD, WAJ-A'LIN NOORA FEE BASAREE, WAL YAQEENA FEE QALBEE, WA ZIKRAKA BIL LAYLI WAN NAHAARI A'LAA LISAANEE, WA A'MALAN SAALIHAN FARZUQNEE.

O Allah, Lord of the souls that pass away and the bodies that decay, I beseech You in the name of the obedience of the souls returning to their bodies, the obedience of the bodies rejoined with their veins, and Your word effective among them, and Your taking of the right from them, while all creatures stand before You awaiting the verdict of Your judgment, hoping for Your mercy and fearing Your punishment; bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad, and place light in my sight, certainty in my heart, remembrance of You on my tongue night and day, and grant me a righteous deed.
