Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.)'s prayer for security

Text and Translation

This supplicatory prayer is ascribed to the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) who used to say it for security against jinn and human beings:

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEME

In the Name of Allah, the All-Beneficent, the All-Merciful.

لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ

LAAA ELAAHA ILLAL LAAHO A’LAYHE TAWAKKALTO

There is no god but Allah; in Him I have placed my trust,

وَ هُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيْمِ

WA HOWA RABBUL A’RSHIL A’ZEEME

and He is the Lord of the Great Throne.

مَا شَاۤءَ اللّٰهُ كَانَ وَ مَالَمْ يَشَاْ لَمْ يَكُنْ

MAA SHAAA-AL LAAHO KAANA WA MAA LAM YASHA’ LAM YAKUN

Whatever Allah wills comes to be, and whatever He does not will does not come to be.

اَشْهَدُ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ

ASHHADO ANNAL LAAHA A’LAA KULLE SHAY-IN QADEERUN

I bear witness that Allah is Powerful over all things,

وَ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ قَدْ اَحَاطَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عِلْمًا

WA ANNAL LAAHA QAD AHAATA BE-KULLE SHAY-IN I’LMAN

and that Allah has encompassed all things in knowledge.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْۤ اَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِىْ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEEE A-O’OZO BEKA MIN SHARRE NAFSEE

O Allah, indeed I seek refuge with You from the evil of my own self,

وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ دَآبَّةٍ اَنْتَ اٰخِذٌ ۢبِنَاصِيَتِهَاۤ

WA MIN SHARRE KULLE DAAABBATIN ANTA AAKHEZUM BE-NAASEYATEHAAA

and from the evil of every moving creature that You hold by its forelock.

اِنَّ رَبِّىْ عَلٰى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيْمٍ.

INNA RABBEE A’LAA SERAATIM MUSTAQEEMIN.

Indeed, my Lord is upon a straight path.
