Hirz Zayn al Abidin (a)

Text and Translation

The following supplicatory amulet is reported from Imam Zayn al-'Abidin (a) and repeated twice in the book Muhaj al-Da'awat.

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

BISMILLAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

يَاۤ اَسْمَعَ السَّامِعِيْنَ

YAA ASMA'AS SAAMI'EEN

O most Hearing of all those who can hear!

يَاۤ اَبْصَرَ النَّاظِرِيْنَ

YAA ABSARAN NAAZIREEN

O best Seer of all those who can see!

يَاۤ اَسْرَعَ الْحَاسِبِيْنَ

YAA ASRA'AL HAASIBEEN

O swiftest in taking account!

يَاۤ اَحْكَمَ الْحَاكِمِيْنَ

YAA AHKAMAL HAAKIMEEN

O wisest of all those who are wise!

يَا خَالِقَ الْمَخْلُوْقِيْنَ

YAA KHAALIQAL MAKHLOOQEEN

O Creator of all the creatures!

يَا رَازِقَ الْمَرْزُوْقِيْنَ

YAA RAAZIQAL MARZOOQEEN

O Sustainer of all those who are granted sustenance!

يَا نَاصِرَ الْمَنْصُوْرِيْنَ

YAA NAASIRAL MANSOOREEN

O grantor of victory to all those who are triumphant!

يَاۤ اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ

YAA ARHAMAR RAAHIMEEN

O most merciful of all those who show mercy!

يَا دَلِيْلَ الْمُتَحَيِّرِيْنَ

YAA DALEELAL MUTAHAYYIREEN

O Guide of the perplexed ones!

يَا غِيَاثَ الْمُسْتَغِيْثِيْنَ اَغِثْنِيْ

YAA GHIYAATHAL MUSTAGHEETHEENA AGHITHNEE

O Aid of those who pray for aid! Please, do aid me.

يَا مَالِكَ يَوْمِ الدِّيْنِ اِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَ اِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِيْنُ

YAA MAALIKA YAWMID DEEN, IYYAAKA NA'BUDU WA IYYAAKA NASTA'EEN

O Master of the Judgement Day! You do we serve and You do we beseech for help.

يَا صَرِيْخَ الْمَكْرُوْبِيْنَ

YAA SAREEKHAL MAKROOBEEN

O Succor of the aggrieved ones!

يَا مُجِيْبَ دَعْوَةِ الْمُضْطَرِّيْنَ

YAA MUJEEBA DA'WATIL MUDTARREEN

O He Who responds to the prayer of the distressed ones!

اَنْتَ اللهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ

ANTALLAAHU RABBUL A'AALAMEEN

You are Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.

اَنْتَ اللهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْتَ الْمَلِكُ الْحَقُّ الْمُبِيْنُ

ANTALLAAHU LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTAL MALIKUL HAQQUL MUBEEN

You are Allah, there is no god save You; the King and the manifest Just.

اَلْكِبْرِيَاۤءُ رِدَاۤؤُكَ

AL-KIBRIYAAA-U RIDAAA-UKA

Pride is Your dress.

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُصْطَفٰى وَ عَلٰى عَلِيٍّ الْمُرْتَضٰى وَ فَاطِمَةَ الزَّهْرَاۤءِ وَ خَدِيْجَةَ الْكُبْرٰى وَ الْحَسَنِ الْمُجْتَبٰى وَ الْحُسَيْنِ الشَّهِيْدِ بِكَرْبَلَاۤءَ

ALLAAHUMMA SALLI A'LAA MUHAMMADINIL MUSTAFAA WA A'LAA A'LIYYINIL MURTADAA WA FAATIMATAZ ZAHRAAA-I WA KHADEEJATAL KUBRAA WAL HASANIL MUJTABAA WAL HUSAYNISH SHAHEEDI BI-KARBALAAA

O Allah, send blessings to Muhammad the Chosen Prophet, 'Ali the Most Pleased, Fatimah the Luminous Lady, Khadijah the Grand Lady, al-Hasan the well-selected, al-Husayn the martyred in Karbala',

وَ عَلٰى عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ زَيْنِ الْعَابِدِيْنَ وَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْبَاقِرِ وَ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّادِقِ وَ مُوْسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْكَاظِمِ وَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُوْسَى الرِّضَا وَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ التَّقِيِّ وَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ النَّقِيِّ وَ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْعَسْكَرِيِّ وَ الْحُجَّةِ الْقَاۤئِمِ الْمَهْدِيِّ الْاِمَامِ الْمُنْتَظَرِ صَلَوَاتُ اللّٰهِ عَلَيْهِمْ اَجْمَعِيْنَ

WA A'LAA A'LIYYIBNIL HUSAYNI ZAYNIL A'AABIDEEN WA MUHAMMADIBNI A'LIYYINIL BAAQIR WA JA'FARIBNI MUHAMMADINIS SAADIQ WA MOOSAA IBNI JA'FARINIL KAAZIM WA A'LIYYIBNI MOOSAR RIDAA WA MUHAMMADIBNI A'LIYYINIT TAQIYY WA A'LIYYIBNI MUHAMMADININ NAQIYY WAL HASANIBNI A'LIYYINIL A'SKARIYY WAL HUJJATIL QAAA-IMIL MAHDIYYIL IMAAMIL MUNTAZAR, SALAWAATULLAAHI A'LAYHIM AJMA'EEN

'Ali ibn al-Husayn the Adornment of the Worshippers, Muhammad ibn 'Ali the Cleaver (of knowledge), Ja'far ibn Muhammad the Veracious, Musa ibn Ja'far the Suppressor (of rage), 'Ali ibn Musa the Amicable, Muhammad ibn 'Ali the Pious, 'Ali ibn Muhammad the Pure, al-Hasan al-'Askari, and the Argument (of Allah), the Raiser (of the right), the Well-guided (al-Mahdi), and the Awaited Imam. Blessings of Allah be upon them all.

اَللّٰهُمَّ وَالِ مَنْ وَالَاهُمْ وَ عَادِ مَنْ عَادَاهُمْ وَ انْصُرْ مَنْ نَصَرَهُمْ وَ اخْذُلْ مَنْ خَذَلَهُمْ وَ الْعَنْ مَنْ ظَلَمَهُمْ

ALLAAHUMMA WAALI MAN WAALAAHUM WA A'AADI MAN A'AADAAHUM WANSUR MAN NASARAHUM WAKHZUL MAN KHAZALAHUM WAL A'N MAN ZALAMAHUM

O Allah, support him who supports them, be the enemy of him who antagonizes them, give victory to him who backs them, disappoint him who disappoints them, curse him who wrongs them,

وَ عَجِّلْ فَرَجَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ انْصُرْ شِيْعَةَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اَهْلِكْ اَعْدَاۤءَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

WA A'JJIL FARAJA AALI MUHAMMADIN WANSUR SHEE'ATA AALI MUHAMMADIN WA AHLIK A'DAAA-A AALI MUHAMMAD

make nearer the Relief of Muhammad's Household, give victory to the partisans of Muhammad's Household, annihilate the enemies of Muhammad's Household,

وَ ارْزُقْنِيْ رُؤْيَةَ قَاۤئِمِ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اجْعَلْنِيْ مِنْ اَتْبَاعِهٖ وَ اَشْيَاعِهٖ وَ الرَّاضِيْنَ بِفِعْلِهٖ بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَاۤ اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ

WARZUQNEE RU-YATA QAAA-IMI AALI MUHAMMADIN WAJ-A'LNEE MIN ATBAAA-I'HI WA ASHYAAA-I'HI WAR RAADEENA BI-FI'LIHI BI-RAHMATIKA YAA ARHAMAR RAAHIMEEN

grant me the honor of seeing the expected Imam from Muhammad's Household, include me with his followers, adherents, and those who are pleased with his deeds — in the name of Your mercy, O most Merciful of all those who show mercy!
