Hirz-e-Imam Jafar al-Sadiq (a.s.)

Text and Translation

This evil-repelling prayer is ascribed to Imam Ja’far ibn Muhammad al-Sadiq (a.s.):

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEM

In the Name of Allah; the All-beneficent, the All-mereiful.

يَا خَالِقَ الْخَلْقِ وَيَا بَاسِطَ الرِّزْقِ

YAA KHAALEQAL KHALQE WA YAA BAASETAR RIZQE

O Creator of the creation! O Amplifying of sustenance!

وَيَا فَالِقَ الْحَبِّ وَيَا بَارِءَ النَّسَمِ

WA YAA FAALEQAL HABBE WA YAA BAARE-AN NASAME

O Splitter of grains! O Originator of spirits!

وَمُحْيِيَ الْمَوْتٰى وَمُمِيْتَ الْاَحْيَاۤءِ

WA MOHYEYAL MAWTAA WA MOMEETAL AHYAAA-E

O Reviver of the dead! O Deadener of the living!

وَدَاۤئِمَ الثَّبَاتِ وَمُخْرِجَ النَّبَاتِ

WA DAA-EMAS SABAATE WA MUKHREJAN NABAATE

O constantly Firm! O Bringer forth of plants!

اِفْعَلْ بِىْ مَاۤ اَنْتَ اَهْلُهٗ

IF-A’L BEE MAA ANTA AHLOHU

Do to me what befits You to do,

وَلَا تَفْعَلْ بِىْ مَا اَنَا اَهْلُهٗ

WA LAA TAF-A’L BEE MAA ANA AHLOHU

but do not do to me what I deserve,

وَاَنْتَ اَهْلُ التَّقْوٰى وَاَهْلُ الْمَغْفِرَةِ.

WA ANTA AHLUT TAQWAA WA AHLUL MAGHFERATE.

for You are the worthiest to be feared and the worthiest to forgive.
