Text and Translation

This evil-repelling prayer is ascribed to Imam Muhammad ibn Ali al-Jawad (a.s.):

يَا نُوْرُ يَا بُرْهَانُ يَا مُبِيْنُ يَا مُنِيْرُ

YAA NOORO YAA BURHAANO YAA MOBEENO YAA MONEERO

O Light! O Proof! O Manifest One! O Illuminator!

يَا رَبِّ اكْفِنِى الشُّرُوْرَ وَ اٰفَاتِ الدُّهُوْرِ

YAA RABBIK FENISH SHOROORA WA AAFAATID DOHOORE

O my Lord, suffice me against all evils, and the afflictions of time.

وَ اَسْاَلُكَ‏ النَّجَاةَ يَوْمَ يُنْفَخُ فِىْ الصُّوْرِ.

WA AS-ALOKAN NAJAATA YAWMA YUNFAKHO FIS SOORE.

And I ask You for salvation on the Day the Trumpet is blown.
