Text and Translation

When the twilight sets, you may utter the azan and eqaamah statements for the Evening Prayer, observing all the aforesaid etiquettes. You may then perform the Evening Prayer, observing all of its etiquettes and meeting all of its conditions. It is highly advisable to prolong the Qunoot in this prayer and the post-prayer utterances, because there is enough time to do so. Accordingly, you may say all the supplications of mornings and evenings as well as all supplications dedicated to evenings, which are numerous. One of these is the sustenance-seeking supplication, which is mentioned in [Ta’qeebaat of Isha Prayers](D10). The supplication begins with these statements:

It is also recommended to recite Surah al-Qadr six times and then say the following supplicatory prayer:

O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and what they overshadow, and Lord of the seven earths and what they carry, and Lord of the devils and those they lead astray, and Lord of the winds and what they scatter. O Allah, Lord of everything, God of everything, and Sovereign of everything; You are Allah, the All-Powerful over all things. You are Allah, the First, so there is nothing before You; and You are the Last, so there is nothing after You; and You are the Manifest, so there is nothing above You; and You are the Hidden, so there is nothing beyond You. Lord of Gabriel, Michael, and Raphael; and God of Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes. I ask You to bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, to take charge of me with Your mercy, and not to give power over me to anyone from Your creation whom I have no strength to withstand. O Allah, I seek Your love, so make me beloved [to You]; and grant me honor among the people; and from the evil of the devils among jinn and mankind, keep me safe, O Lord of the Worlds. And bless Muhammad and his family.

You may then pray Almighty Allah for any thing you wish.

You may thereafter do the thanksgiving prostration after which you may offer the Wutayrah Prayer, which is a supererogatory (mustahab / naafelah) prayer that is offered in the sitting position after the Evening Prayer and consisting of two units of prayer in both of which it is recommended to recite one hundred verses of the Holy Qur’an. It is therefore preferable to recite Surah al-Faatehah and Surah al-Waqiah (No. 56) in the first unit and Surah al-Faatehah and Surah al-Tawheed in the second.

Upon accomplishment, you may say any supplication you wish to say.
