Eighth: It is recommended, thereafter, to offer the ‘Id Prayer (Salat al-’Id), which consists of two units. In the first unit, recite Surah al-Faatehah and [Surah al-Aa’laa](A91) (No. 87). After the recitation of these Surahs, say the Takbir statement (i.e. Allahu-akbar) five times and raise your hands for Qunut after each Takbir, saying:
ALLAAHUMMA AHLAL KIBREYAAE WAL A’ZAMATE
O Allah, You are the Lord of glory and greatness,
WA AHLAL JOODE WAL JABAROOT,
the Lord of magnanimity and omnipotence,
WA AHLAL A’FWE WAR RAHMAH,
the Lord of pardon and mercy,
WA AHLAT TAQWAA WAL MAGHFERATE
and the worthiest of being feared and the worthiest of forgiving;
AS-ALOKA BEHAQQE HAAZAL YAWMIL
I beseech You in the name of this day,
LAZEE JA-A’LTAHOO LIL MUSLEMEENA E’EDAWN,
which You have decided to be feast for Muslims
WA LEMUHAM¬MADIN SALLALLAAHO A’LAYHE WA AALEHI ZOOKHRAWN WA KARAAMATAWN WA SHARAFAWN WA MAZEEDAA,
and to be safety and increasing honor for Muhammad—peace of Allah be upon him and his Household—
AN TOSALLEYA A’LAA MOHAMMADIN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN
(I beseech You) to send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
WA AN TUDKHELANEE FEE KULLE KHAYRIN
include me with every item of goodness
ADKHALTA FEEHE MOHAMMADAN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN
with which You have included Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
WA AN TOOKHREJANI MIN KULLE SOO-IN
and save me from any item of evil
AKHRAJTA MINHO MOHAMMADAN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN
from which You have saved Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
SALAWAATOKA A’LAYHE WA A’LAYHIM AJMA-E’EN.
may Your blessings be upon him and upon them.
ALLAHOOMMA INNEE AS-ALOKA KHAYRA MAA SA-A-LAKA BEHI E’BAADOKAS SAALEHOON
O Allah, I pray You for the best of all that for which Your righteous servants have prayed You,
WA A’OOZO BEKA MIMMASTA-A’ZA MINHO E’BAADOKAL MOOKHLESOON.
and seek Your protection against all that against which Your righteous servants have asked Your protection.
You may then say the Takbir statement for the sixth time, do the genuflection (ruku'), and prostrate yourself (sujud). When you stand up for the second unit, recite Surah al-Faatehah and [Surah al-Shams](A95) (No. 91) and then say the Takbir statement four times only raising the hands for Qunut after each statement. After that, say the fifth Takbir statement and continue the prayer. After accomplishment of the prayer, say the famous Tasbih al-Zahra’(a.s.).
Narrations have mentioned many supplicatory prayers to be said after the ‘Id Prayer; rather, the best of them may be the forty-sixth supplication of al-Sahifah al-Kamilah al-Sajjadiyyah
It is also recommended to offer the ‘Id Prayer outdoors, directly on the ground without putting a carpet or any other thing under the feet, to return from a way other than the one taken in the coming, and to pray Almighty Allah for accepting the acts of one’s brethren-in-faith.
Ninth: It is recommended to visit the holy tomb of Imam al-Husayn (a.s.).
Tenth: It is recommended to say the famous supplicatory prayer known as Dua al-Nudbah, which will be cited later on in this book. Sayyid Ibn Tawus has instructed, saying: After saying Dua al-Nudbah, prostrate yourself and say the following:
A’OOZO BEKA MINNAARIN HARROHAA LAA YUTFAA
I seek refuge with You from fire whose heat is never extinguished,
WA JADEEDOHAA LAA YABLAA WA A’THAANOHAA LAA YARWAA
whose fresh flame never deteriorates, and whose thirsty is never quenched.
You may then put your right cheek on the ground and say the following:
ELAAHEE LAA TOQALLIB WAJHEE FIN NAARE BA’DA SOJOODEE
O my God, (please) do not turn my face in Hellfire after I have prostrated myself
WA TA’FEEREE LAKA BE-GHAYRE MANNIN MINNEE A’LAYKA BAL LAKAL MANNO A’LAYYA
and soiled my face before You; it is not a show of favor from me to You, but it is You Who have this favor on me.
You may then put your left cheek on the ground and say the following:
IRHAM MAN ASAA-A WAQ TARAFA WAS TAKAANA WA’TARAFA.
Have mercy on one who has transgressed and committed blunders, but is now showing humility and confessing.
You may then return to the (ordinary) prostration and say the following:
IN KUNTO BEASAL A’BDO FA-ANTA NE’MAR RABBO
If I am the most miserable servant (of You), You are verily the best Lord.
A’ZOMAZ ZANBO MIN A’BDEKA
Grand is the sin of Your servant;
FAL-YAHSONIL A’FWO MIN I’NDEKA
so, let pardon of You be nice.
YAA KAREEMO.
