Dua to remember the things that Satan makes you forget

Text and Translation

Al-Kaf'ami, quoting Jam' al-Shatat, reports Imam al-Sadiq (a) as saying: if you meant to relate one of our sayings and Satan made you forget it, place your hand on your forehead and say:

صَلَّى اللهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِهِ

SALLAL LAAHO A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALIHI

Allah's blessings be upon Muhammad and his Household,

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْۤ اَسْاَلُكَ يَا مُذَكِّرَ الْخَيْرِ وَ فَاعِلَهُ وَ الْاٰمِرَ بِهِ

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE AS-ALUKA YAA MUZAKKIRAL KHAYRI WA FAA-I'LAHU WAL AAMIRA BIHI

O Allah, I ask You, O Reminder of good, its Doer, and the One Who commands it,

ذَكِّرْنِىْ مَاۤ اَنْسَانِيْهِ الشَّيْطَانُ

ZAKKIRNEE MAA ANSAANEEHISH SHAYTAAN

remind me of what Satan has made me forget.

In Man La Yahduruhul Faqih, Imam al-Sadiq (a) is reported to have said that whoever is frequently forgetful in his prayers may say this on entering the toilet:

بِسْمِ اللهِ

BISMIL LAAH

In the name of Allah,

اَعُوْذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الرِّجْسِ النَّجِسِ الْخَبِيْثِ الْمُخْبِثِ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيْمِ

A'OOZU BILLAAHI MINAR RIJSIN NAJISIL KHABEESIL MUKHBISISH SHAYTAANIR RAJEEM

I seek refuge in Allah from the unclean, impure, wicked, corrupting, accursed Satan.
