Merits
Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) instructed: If a child is ailing, let the mother ascend to the roof of the house, uncover her head, and fall prostrate before Allah, reciting this supplication:
Text and Translation
اَللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّنَاۤ اَنْتَ وَهَبْتَهٗ لِيْ وَ لَمْ يَكُ شَيْئًا مَّذْكُوْرًا
ALLAAHUMMA RABBANAA ANTA WAHABTAHU LEE WA LAM YAKU SHAY'AM MADHKOORAA
O Allah, our Lord, You bestowed him upon me when he was nothing mentioned.
اَللّٰهُمَّ فَاشْفِهٖ بِشِفَآئِكَ وَ دَاوِهٖ بِدَوَآئِكَ وَ عَافِهٖ مِنْ بَلَآئِكَ
ALLAAHUMMA FASH-FIHI BI-SHIFAAA'IKA WA DAAWIHI BI-DAWAAA'IKA WA A'AFIHI MIM BALAAA'IK
O Allah, heal him with Your cure, treat him with Your medicine, and grant him well-being from Your affliction,
وَ اجْعَلْهُ بَارًّا تَقِيًّا صَالِحًا بِمَنِّكَ وَ كَرَمِكَ يَاۤ اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ
WAJ-A'LHU BAARRAN TAQIYYAN SAALIHAM BI-MANNIKA WA KARAMIKA YAA ARHAMAR RAAHIMEEN
and make him dutiful, pious, and righteous, by Your grace and generosity, O most Merciful of all those who show mercy!
