Dua of Exaltation

Text and Translation

In his book Miqbas al-Masabih, 'Allamah al-Majlisi says: Imam al-Sadiq (a) is reported through valid chains of authority to have said: there are three hours at night and three others at day at which Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, glorifies Himself. The three hours of the day begin when the sun on the east side rises to the same height it later reaches on the west side in the afternoon — that is, at early forenoon. The three hours of night begin at the last third of the night up to dawn (fajr). Any servant who glorifies Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, at these hours with full heart-presence, Almighty Allah will settle his needs, and if he is unhappy (because of sinning), I expect that he will be made happy.

It is most suitable to say the following words of glorification at these hours:

اَنْتَ اللّٰهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْتَ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ اَنْتَ اللّٰهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْتَ الرَّحْمٰنُ الرَّحِيْمُ اَنْتَ اللّٰهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْتَ الْعَلِىُّ الْكَبِيْرُ اَنْتَ اللّٰهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْتَ مَلِكُ يَوْمِ الدِّيْنِ

ANTALLAAHU LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTA RABBUL A'AALAMEEN, ANTALLAAHU LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTAR RAHMAANUR RAHEEM, ANTALLAAHU LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTAL A'LIYYUL KABEER, ANTALLAAHU LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTA MALIKU YAWMID DEEN

You are Allah, there is no god except You, Lord of the worlds. You are Allah, there is no god except You, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. You are Allah, there is no god except You, the Most High, the Great. You are Allah, there is no god except You, Master of the Day of Judgment.

اَنْتَ اللّٰهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْتَ الْغَفُوْرُ الرَّحِيْمُ اَنْتَ اللّٰهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْتَ الْعَزِيْزُ الْحَكِيْمُ اَنْتَ اللّٰهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْتَ مِنْكَ بَدْءُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَ اِلَيْكَ يَعُوْدُ كُلُّ شَيْءٍ

ANTALLAAHU LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTAL GHAFOORUR RAHEEM, ANTALLAAHU LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTAL A'ZEEZUL HAKEEM, ANTALLAAHU LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTA MINKA BAD-U KULLI SHAY-IN WA ILAYKA YA-O'ODU KULLU SHAY

You are Allah, there is no god except You, the All-forgiving, the All-merciful. You are Allah, there is no god except You, the All-mighty, the All-wise. You are Allah, there is no god except You; from You is the origin of all things, and to You returns all things.

اَنْتَ اللّٰهُ الَّذِىْ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْتَ لَمْ تَزَلْ وَ لَا تَزَالُ اَنْتَ اللّٰهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْتَ خَالِقُ الْخَيْرِ وَالشَّرِّ اَنْتَ اللّٰهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْتَ خَالِقُ الْجَنَّةِ وَالنَّارِ

ANTALLAAHUL LAZEE LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTA LAM TAZAL WA LAA TAZAAL, ANTALLAAHU LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTA KHAALIQUL KHAYRI WASH SHARR, ANTALLAAHU LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTA KHAALIQUL JANNATI WAN NAAR

You are Allah, besides Whom there is no god; You have never ceased to be and You never shall cease. You are Allah, there is no god except You, Creator of good and evil. You are Allah, there is no god except You, Creator of Paradise and Hellfire.

اَنْتَ اللّٰهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْتَ الْاَحَدُ الصَّمَدُ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَ لَمْ يُوْلَدْ وَ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَّهٗ كُفُوًا اَحَدٌ اَنْتَ اللّٰهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْتَ الْمَلِكُ الْقُدُّوْسُ السَّلَامُ الْمُؤْمِنُ الْمُهَيْمِنُ الْعَزِيْزُ الْجَبَّارُ الْمُتَكَبِّرُ سُبْحَانَ اللّٰهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُوْنَ

ANTALLAAHU LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTAL AHADUS SAMAD, LAM YALID WA LAM YOOLAD WA LAM YAKUL LAHU KUFUWAN AHAD, ANTALLAAHU LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTAL MALIKUL QUDDOOSUS SALAAMUL MU-MINUL MUHAYMINUL A'ZEEZUL JABBAARUL MUTAKABBIR, SUBHAANALLAAHI A'MMAA YUSHRIKOON

You are Allah, there is no god except You, the One, the Everlasting Refuge, Who begets not nor is begotten, and there is none equal to Him. You are Allah, there is no god except You, the Sovereign, the Holy, the Source of Peace, the Granter of Security, the Guardian, the Almighty, the Compeller, the Supreme in Greatness; Glory be to Allah above what they associate with Him.

اَنْتَ اللّٰهُ الْخَالِقُ الْبَارِئُ الْمُصَوِّرُ لَكَ الْاَسْمَاۤءُ الْحُسْنٰى يُسَبِّحُ لَكَ مَا فِىْ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَ اَنْتَ الْعَزِيْزُ الْحَكِيْمُ اَنْتَ اللّٰهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْتَ الْكَبِيْرُ الْمُتَعَالِ وَالْكِبْرِيَاۤءُ رِدَاۤؤُكَ

ANTALLAAHUL KHAALIQUL BAARI-U'L MUSAWWIR, LAKAL ASMAAA-UL HUSNAA, YUSABBIHU LAKA MAA FIS SAMAAWAATI WAL ARD, WA ANTAL A'ZEEZUL HAKEEM, ANTALLAAHU LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTAL KABEERUL MUTA-A'AL WAL KIBRIYAAA-U RIDAAA-UK

You are Allah, the Creator, the Originator, the Fashioner; to You belong the Most Excellent Names; whatever is in the heavens and the earth glorifies You, and You are the All-mighty, the All-wise. You are Allah, there is no god except You, the Great, the Most Exalted, and greatness is Your garment.
