Dua for the Twelfth Hour

Text and Translation

The twelfth hour of the day begins with the sun coloring yellowish and ends with sunset. This hour is dedicated to Imam al-Mahdi, the Patron of the Age (a), and the following is the supplication at this hour:

يَا مَنْ تَوَحَّدَ بِنَفْسِهِ عَنْ خَلْقِهِ يَا مَنْ غَنِيَ عَنْ خَلْقِهِ بِصُنْعِهِ يَا مَنْ عَرَّفَ نَفْسَهُ خَلْقَهُ بِلُطْفِهِ يَا مَنْ سَلَكَ بِاَهْلِ طَاعَتِهِ مَرْضَاتَهُ يَا مَنْ اَعَانَ اَهْلَ مَحَبَّتِهِ عَلٰى شُكْرِهِمْ يَا مَنْ مَنَّ عَلَيْهِمْ بِدِيْنِهِ وَ لَطُفَ لَهُمْ بِنَاۤئِلِهِ اَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ الْخَلَفِ الصَّالِحِ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ وَ اَتَضَرَّعُ اِلَيْكَ بِهِ وَ اُقَدِّمُهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَوَاۤئِجِيْ اَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اَنْ تَفْعَلَ بِيْ كَذَا وَ كَذَا اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ اُوْلِي الْاَمْرِ الَّذِيْنَ اَمَرْتَ بِطَاعَتِهِمْ وَ اُوْلِي الْاَرْحَامِ الَّذِيْنَ اَمَرْتَ بِصِلَتِهِمْ وَ ذَوِي الْقُرْبٰى الَّذِيْنَ اَمَرْتَ بِمَوَدَّتِهِمْ وَ الْمَوَالِي الَّذِيْنَ اَمَرْتَ بِعِرْفَانِ حَقِّهِمْ وَ اَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ الَّذِيْنَ اَذْهَبْتَ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَ طَهَّرْتَهُمْ تَطْهِيْرًا اَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اَنْ تَفْعَلَ بِيْ كَذَا وَ كَذَا۔

YAA MAN TAWAHHADA BI-NAFSIHI A'N KHALQIH, YAA MAN GHANIYA A'N KHALQIHI BI-SUN-I'H, YAA MAN A'RRAFA NAFSAHU KHALQAHU BI-LUTFIH, YAA MAN SALAKA BI-AHLI TAA-A'TIHI MARDAATAH, YAA MAN A-A'ANA AHLA MAHABBATIHI A'LAA SHUKRIHIM, YAA MAN MANNA A'LAYHIM BI-DEENIHI WA LATUFA LAHUM BI-NAAA-ILIH, AS-ALUKA BI-HAQQIL KHALAFIS SAALIHI A'LAYHIS SALAAMU A'LAYK, WA ATADARRA-U' ILAYKA BIH, WA UQADDIMUHU BAYNA YADAY HAWAAA-IJEE, AN TUSALLIYA A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALI MUHAMMADIN WA AN TAF-A'LA BEE KAZAA WA KAZAA, ALLAAHUMMA SALLI A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALI MUHAMMADIN ULIL AMRIL LAZEENA AMARTA BI-TAA-A'TIHIM, WA ULIL ARHAAMIL LAZEENA AMARTA BI-SILATIHIM, WA ZAWIL QURBAL LAZEENA AMARTA BI-MAWADDATIHIM, WAL MAWAALIL LAZEENA AMARTA BI-I'RFAANI HAQQIHIM, WA AHLAL BAYTIL LAZEENA AZHABTA A'NHUMUR RIJSA WA TAHHARTAHUM TATHEERAA, AN TUSALLIYA A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALI MUHAMMADIN WA AN TAF-A'LA BEE KAZAA WA KAZAA.

O He Who, by Himself, is independent of His creation! O He Who, through His making, is free of need of His creation! O He Who has made His creation know Him through His subtle kindness! O He Who has guided those obedient to Him to His good pleasure! O He Who has helped those who love Him to give thanks to Him! O He Who has favored them with His religion and been gentle to them with His gifts! I beseech You by the right of the righteous Successor, upon him be peace, and I implore You through him, and I present him before my needs, that You bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad, and that You do for me such-and-such. O Allah, bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad — those in authority whose obedience You have commanded, the kin whose ties You have commanded be kept, the near of kin whose affection You have commanded, the loyal ones whose right You have commanded be recognized, and the People of the House from whom You have removed all impurity and whom You have purified with a thorough purification — that You bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad, and that You do for me such-and-such.
