Dua for the Tenth Hour

Text and Translation

The tenth hour, which is the space of time between two hours after the Afternoon Prayer and the time before the sun is colored yellowish, is dedicated to Imam Ali ibn Muhammad al-Naqi(a.s.). The following is the supplication at this hour:

يَا مَنْ عَلَا فَعَظُمَ يَا مَنْ تَسَلَّطَ فَتَجَبَّرَ وَ تَجَبَّرَ فَتَسَلَّطَ يَا مَنْ عَزَّ فَاسْتَكْبَرَ فِىْ عِزِّهٖ يَا مَنْ مَدَّ الظِّلَّ عَلٰى خَلْقِهٖ يَا مَنِ امْتَنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوْفِ عَلٰى عِبَادِهٖ يَا عَزِيْزًا ذَا انْتِقَامٍ يَا مُنْتَقِمًا بِعِزَّتِهٖ مِنْ اَهْلِ الشِّرْكِ اَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ عَلِىِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ وَ اُقَدِّمُهٗ بَيْنَ يَدَىْ حَواۤئِجِىْ اَنْ تُصَلِّىَ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اَنْ تَفْعَلَ بِىْ كَذَا وَ كَذَا...

YAA MAN A'LAA FA'AZUMA YAA MAN TASALLATA FATAJABBARA WA TAJABBARA FATASALLATA YAA MAN A'ZZA FASTAKBARA FEE I'ZZIHEE YAA MAN MADDAZ ZILLA A'LAA KHALQIHEE YAA MANIMTANNA BIL MA'ROOFI A'LAA I'BAADIHEE YAA A'ZEEZAN ZAANTIQAAMIN YAA MUNTAQIMAN BI'IZZATIHEE MIN AHLISH SHIRKI AS-ALUKA BIHAQQI A'LIYYI BNI MUHAMMADIN A'LAYHIMAS SALAAMU WA UQADDIMUHOO BAYNA YADAY HAWAA-IJEE AN TUSALLIYA A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALI MUHAMMADIN WA AN TAF'ALA BEE KAZAA WA KAZAA...

O He Who is exalted and therefore mighty! O He Who holds authority and therefore compels, and compels and therefore holds authority! O He Who is mighty and therefore magnificent in His might! O He Who has spread the shade over His creation! O He Who has favoured His servants with kindness! O Mighty, Lord of retribution! O He Who, by His might, takes vengeance on the people of polytheism! I beseech You in the name of 'Ali the son of Muhammad, peace be upon them both, and I put him forward before my needs, to send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad and to do for me such-and-such...
