Dua for the Sixth Hour

Text and Translation

The sixth hour, which is the space of time between the amount of four units of prayer before midday (zuhr) up to the time of the Noon Prayer, is dedicated to Imam Ja'far ibn Muhammad al-Sadiq (a). The supplication at this hour is the following:

يَا مَنْ لَطُفَ عَنْ اِدْرَاكِ الْاَوْهَامِ يَا مَنْ كَبُرَ عَنْ مَوْجُوْدِ الْبَصَرِ يَا مَنْ تَعَالٰى عَنِ الصِّفَاتِ كُلِّهَا يَا مَنْ جَلَّ عَنْ مَعَانِي اللُّطْفِ وَ لَطُفَ عَنْ مَعَانِي الْجَلَالِ اَسْئَلُكَ بِنُوْرِ وَجْهِكَ وَ ضِيَاۤءِ كِبْرِيَاۤئِكَ وَ اَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ عَظَمَتِكَ الْعَافِيَةَ مِنْ نَّارِكَ وَ اَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَلَيْكَ وَ اُقَدِّمُهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَوَاۤئِجِيْ اَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اَنْ تَفْعَلَ بِيْ كَذَا وَ كَذَا۔

YAA MAN LATUFA A'N IDRAAKIL AWHAAM, YAA MAN KABURA A'N MAWJOODIL BASAR, YAA MAN TA-A'ALAA A'NIS SIFAATI KULLIHAA, YAA MAN JALLA A'N MA-A'ANIL LUTFI WA LATUFA A'N MA-A'ANIL JALAAL, AS-ALUKA BI-NOORI WAJHIKA WA DIYAAA-I KIBRIYAAA-IK, WA AS-ALUKA BI-HAQQI A'ZAMATIKAL A'AFIYATA MIN NAARIK, WA AS-ALUKA BI-HAQQI JA'FARIBNI MUHAMMADIN A'LAYK, WA UQADDIMUHU BAYNA YADAY HAWAAA-IJEE, AN TUSALLIYA A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALI MUHAMMADIN WA AN TAF-A'LA BEE KAZAA WA KAZAA.

O He Who is too subtle to be grasped by imaginings! O He Who is too great to be found by sight! O He Who is exalted above all attributes! O He Who is too majestic for the meanings of subtlety and too subtle for the meanings of majesty! I beseech You by the light of Your Countenance and the radiance of Your majesty, and I beseech You by the right of Your greatness for safety from Your Fire, and I beseech You by the right of Ja'far ibn Muhammad, upon him be peace, and I present him before my needs, that You bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad, and that You do for me such-and-such.
