Dua for the Seventh Hour

Text and Translation

The seventh hour, which is the space of time between the Noon Prayer and the amount of four units of prayer before afternoon, is dedicated to Imam Musa ibn Ja'far al-Kazim (a). The supplication at this hour is as follows:

يَا مَنْ تَكَبَّرَ عَنِ الْاَوْهَامِ صُوْرَتُهُ يَا مَنْ تَعَالٰى عَنِ الصِّفَاتِ نُوْرُهُ يَا مَنْ قَرُبَ عِنْدَ دُعَاۤءِ خَلْقِهِ يَا مَنْ دَعَاهُ الْمُضْطَرُّوْنَ وَ لَجَاَ اِلَيْهِ الْخَاۤئِفُوْنَ وَ سَئَلَهُ الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ وَ عَبَدَهُ الشَّاكِرُوْنَ وَ حَمِدَهُ الْمُخْلِصُوْنَ اَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ نُوْرِكَ الْمُضِيْءِ وَ بِحَقِّ مُوْسَى بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَلَيْكَ وَ اَتَقَرَّبُ بِهِ اِلَيْكَ وَ اُقَدِّمُهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَوَاۤئِجِيْ اَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اَنْ تَفْعَلَ بِيْ كَذَا وَ كَذَا۔

YAA MAN TAKABBARA A'NIL AWHAAMI SOORATUH, YAA MAN TA-A'ALAA A'NIS SIFAATI NOORUH, YAA MAN QARUBA I'NDA DU-A'AA-I KHALQIH, YAA MAN DA-A'AHUL MUDTARROON, WA LAJA-A ILAYHIL KHAAA-IFOON, WA SA-ALAHUL MU'MINOON, WA A'BADAHUSH SHAAKIROON, WA HAMIDAHUL MUKHLISOON, AS-ALUKA BI-HAQQI NOORIKAL MUDEEE, WA BI-HAQQI MOOSABNI JA'FARIN A'LAYK, WA ATAQARRABU BIHI ILAYK, WA UQADDIMUHU BAYNA YADAY HAWAAA-IJEE, AN TUSALLIYA A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALI MUHAMMADIN WA AN TAF-A'LA BEE KAZAA WA KAZAA.

O He Whose form is too great for imaginings! O He Whose light is exalted above all attributes! O He Who draws near when His creation calls upon Him! O He Whom the distressed call upon, to Whom the fearful take refuge, Whom the believers ask, Whom the thankful worship, and Whom the sincere praise! I beseech You by the right of Your radiant light and by the right of Musa ibn Ja'far, upon him be peace, and I seek nearness to You through him, and I present him before my needs, that You bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad, and that You do for me such-and-such.
