Dua for the Nineth Hour

Text and Translation

The ninth hour, which is the space of time between the Afternoon Prayer up to two hours after that, is dedicated to Imam Muhammad ibn Ali al-Taqi (a). The supplication at this hour is as follows:

يَا مَنْ دَعَاهُ الْمُضْطَرُّوْنَ فَاَجَابَهُمْ وَالْتَجَاَ اِلَيْهِ الْخَاۤئِفُوْنَ فَاَمَنَهُمْ وَعَبَدَهُ الطَّاۤئِعُوْنَ فَشَكَرَهُمْ وَ شَكَرَهُ الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ فَحَبَاهُمْ وَ اَطَاعُوْهُ فَعَصَمَهُمْ وَ سَئَلُوْهُ فَاَعْطَاهُمْ وَ نَسُوْا نِعْمَتَهُ فَلَمْ يُخْلِ شُكْرَهُ مِنْ قُلُوْبِهِمْ وَامْتَنَّ عَلَيْهِمْ فَلَمْ يَجْعَلِ اسْمَهُ مَنْسِيًّا عِنْدَهُمْ اَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ حُجَّتِكَ الْبَالِغَةِ وَ نِعْمَتِكَ السَّابِغَةِ وَ مَحَجَّتِكَ الْوَاضِحَةِ وَ اُقَدِّمُهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ حَوَاۤئِجِيْ اَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اَنْ تَفْعَلَ بِيْ كَذَا وَ كَذَا۔

YAA MAN DA-A'AHUL MUDTARROONA FA-AJAABAHUM, WAL TAJA-A ILAYHIL KHAAA-IFOONA FA-AMANAHUM, WA A'BADAHUT TAAA-I'OONA FA-SHAKARAHUM, WA SHAKARAHUL MU'MINOONA FA-HABAAHUM, WA ATAA-O'OHU FA-A'SAMAHUM, WA SA-ALOOHU FA-A'TAAHUM, WA NASOO NI'MATAHU FA-LAM YUKHLI SHUKRAHU MIN QULOOBIHIM, WAM TANNA A'LAYHIM FA-LAM YAJ-A'LIS MAHU MANSIYYAN I'NDAHUM, AS-ALUKA BI-HAQQI MUHAMMADIBNI A'LIYYIN A'LAYHIMAS SALAAM, HUJJATIKAL BAALIGHAH, WA NI'MATIKAS SAABIGHAH, WA MAHAJJATIKAL WAADIHAH, WA UQADDIMUHU BAYNA YADAY HAWAAA-IJEE, AN TUSALLIYA A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALI MUHAMMADIN WA AN TAF-A'LA BEE KAZAA WA KAZAA.

O He Whom the distressed call upon, and He answers them; to Whom the fearful take refuge, and He grants them safety; Whom the obedient worship, and He rewards them; Whom the believers thank, and He grants them; whom they obey, and He preserves them; whom they ask, and He gives them; who forgot His blessing, yet He never emptied their hearts of gratitude to Him, and He favored them, yet never let His name be forgotten among them. I beseech You by the right of Muhammad ibn Ali, upon both of them be peace, Your conclusive proof, Your abundant blessing, and Your clear path, and I present him before my needs, that You bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad, and that You do for me such-and-such.
