Dua for the Eleventh Hour

Text and Translation

The eleventh hour, which extends from the time before the yellowishing of the sun up to the time when it is colored yellowish, is dedicated to Imam al-Hasan ibn Ali al-’Askari(a.s.). The supplication at this hour is the following:

يَا اَوَّلًا بِلَا اَوَّلِيَّةٍ وَ اٰخِرًا بِلَا اٰخِرِيَّةٍ يَا قَيُّوْمًا بِلَا مُنْتَهٰى لِقِدَمِهٖ يَا عَزِيْزًا بِلَا انْقِطَاعٍ لِعِزَّتِهٖ يَا مُتَسَلِّطًا بِلَا ضَعْفٍ مِنْ سُلْطَانِهٖ يَا كَرِيْمًا بِدَوَامِ نِعْمَتِهٖ يَا جَبَّارًا وَ مُعِزًّا لِاَوْلِيَاۤئِهٖ يَا خَبِيْرًا بِعِلْمِهٖ يَا عَلِيْمًا بِقُدْرَتِهٖ يَا قَدِيْرًا بِذَاتِهٖ اَسْئَلُكَ بِحَقِّ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَامُ وَ اُقَدِّمُهٗ بَيْنَ يَدَىْ حَوَاۤئِجِىْ اَنْ تُصَلِىَّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اَنْ تَفْعَلَ بِىْ كَذَا وَكَذَا...

YAA AWWALAN BILAA AWWALIYYATIN WA AAKHIRAN BILAA AAKHIRIYYATIN YAA QAYYOOMAN BILAA MUNTAHAA LIQIDAMIHEE YAA A'ZEEZAN BILAANQITAA'IN LI'IZZATIHEE YAA MUTASALLITAN BILAA ZA'FIN MIN SULTAANIHEE YAA KAREEMAN BIDAWAAMI NI'MATIHEE YAA JABBAARAN WA MU'IZZAN LI-AWLIYAA-IHEE YAA KHABEERAN BI'ILMIHEE YAA A'LEEMAN BIQUDRATIHEE YAA QADEERAN BIZAATIHEE AS-ALUKA BIHAQQIL HASANI BNI A'LIYYIN A'LAYHIMAS SALAAMU WA UQADDIMUHOO BAYNA YADAY HAWAA-IJEE AN TUSALIYYA A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALI MUHAMMADIN WA AN TAF'ALA BEE KAZAA WAKAZAA...

O First without beginning, and Last without end! O Self-Subsisting Whose eternity has no limit! O Mighty Whose might never ceases! O Sovereign Whose authority has no weakness! O Generous through the permanence of His bounty! O Compeller Who gives might to His friends! O All-aware through His knowledge! O All-knowing through His power! O All-powerful through His Essence! I beseech You in the name of al-Hasan the son of 'Ali, peace be upon them both, and I put him forward before my needs, to send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad and to do for me such-and-such...
