Dua for the 27th Night of Ramadhan

Text and Translation

يَا مَادَّ الظِّلِّ وَ لَوْ شِئْتَ لَجَعَلْتَهٗ سَاكِنًا وَ جَعَلْتَ الشَّمْسَ عَلَيْهِ دَلِيْلًا ثُمَّ قَبَضْتَهٗ اِلَيْكَ قَبْضًا يَّسِيْرًا

YAA MAADDAZ ZILLI WA LAW SHI'TA LAJA'ALTAHU SAAKINAA, WA JA'ALTASH SHAMSA A'LAYHI DALEELAN THUMMA QABADTAHU ILAYKA QABDAY YASEERAA

O Spreader of the shade, and if You willed, You could make it still, then You have made the sun its pilot, then You withdraw it to Us, a gradual withdrawal!

يَا ذَا الْجُوْدِ وَ الطَّوْلِ وَ الْكِبْرِيَآءِ وَ الْاٰلَآءِ

YAA DHAL JOODI WAT TAWLI WAL KIBRIIYAAA'I WAL AALAAA'

O Lord of magnanimity, conferral, greatness, and bounties!

لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْتَ عَالِمُ الْغَيْبِ وَ الشَّهَادَةِ الرَّحْمٰنُ الرَّحِيْمُ

LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTA A'ALIMUL GHAYBI WASH SHAHAADATIR RAHMAANUR RAHEEM

There is no god save You! You are the Knower of the hidden and the witnessed, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْتَ يَا قُدُّوْسُ يَا سَلَامُ يَا مُؤْمِنُ يَا مُهَيْمِنُ يَا عَزِيْزُ يَا جَبَّارُ يَا مُتَكَبِّرُ

LAA ILAAHA ILLAA ANTA YAA QUDDOOSU YAA SALAAMU YAA MOO'MINU YAA MUHAYMINU YAA A'ZEEZU YAA JABBAARU YAA MUTAKABBIR

There is no god save You! O Holy! O Peace! O Bestower of faith! O Guardian! O Mighty! O Compeller! O Sublime!

يَاۤ اَللّٰهُ يَا خَالِقُ يَا بَارِئُ يَا مُصَوِّرُ يَاۤ اَللّٰهُ يَاۤ اَللّٰهُ يَاۤ اَللّٰهُ

YAA ALLAAHU YAA KHAALIQU YAA BAARI'U YAA MUSAWWIRU YAA ALLAAHU YAA ALLAAHU YAA ALLAAH

O Allah! O Creator! O Maker! O Fashioner! O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!

لَكَ الْاَسْمَآءُ الْحُسْنٰى وَ الْاَمْثَالُ الْعُلْيَا وَ الْكِبْرِيَآءُ وَ الْاٰلَآءُ

LAKAL ASMAAA'UL HUSNAA WAL AMTHAALUL U'LYAA WAL KIBRIYAAA'U WAL AALAAA'

Yours are the Best Names, the Highest Examples, Greatness, and Bounties!

اَسْاَلُكَ اَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اَنْ تَجْعَلَ اسْمِيْ فِيْ هٰذِهِ اللَّيْلَةِ فِي السُّعَدَآءِ

AS'ALUKA AN TUSALLIYA A'LAA MUHAMMADIN WA AALI MUHAMMADIN WA AN TAJ'ALASMEE FEE HAADHIHIL LAYLATI FIS SU'ADAAA'

I beseech You to send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad and to include my name with the happy ones on this night,

وَ رُوْحِيْ مَعَ الشُّهَدَآءِ وَ اِحْسَانِيْ فِيْ عِلِّيِّيْنَ وَ اِسَآءَتِيْ مَغْفُوْرَةً

WA ROOHEE MA'ASH SHUHADAAA'I WA IHSAANEE FEE I'LLIYYEEN, WA ISA'ATEE MAGHFOORAH

and my soul with the martyrs, and my good deeds in the highest heaven (Illiyyin), and to forgive my evil deeds,

وَ اَنْ تَهَبَ لِيْ يَقِيْنًا تُبَاشِرُ بِهٖ قَلْبِيْ وَ اِيْمَانًا يُذْهِبُ الشَّكَّ عَنِّيْ وَ تُرْضِيَنِيْ بِمَا قَسَمْتَ لِيْ

WA AN TAHABA LEE YAQEENAN TUBAASHIRU BIHEE QALBEE WA EEMAANAN YUDH-HIBUSH SHAKKA A'NNEE WA TURDIYANEE BIMAA QASAMTA LEE

and to grant me conviction that fills my heart and faith that removes doubt from me, and to make me pleased with whatever You have decided for me,

وَ اٰتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَّ فِي الْاٰخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَّ قِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ الْحَرِيْقِ

WA AATINAA FID DUNYAA HASANATAN WA FIL AAKHIRATI HASANATAN WA QINAA A'DHAABAN NAARIL HAREEQ

and grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter and save us from the torment of the burning Fire,

وَ ارْزُقْنِيْ فِيْهَا ذِكْرَكَ وَ شُكْرَكَ وَ الرَّغْبَةَ اِلَيْكَ وَ الْاِنَابَةَ وَ التَّوْبَةَ وَ التَّوْفِيْقَ لِمَا وَفَّقْتَ لَهٗ مُحَمَّدًا وَّ اٰلَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَ عَلَيْهِمْ

WARZUQNEE FEEHAA DHIKRAKA WA SHUKRAKA WAR RAGHBATA ILAYKA WAL INAABATA WAT TAWBATA WAT TAWFEEQA LIMAA WAFFAQTA LAHOO MUHAMMADAN WA AALA MUHAMMAD, SALAWAATUKA A'LAYHI WA A'LAYHIM

and grant me therein remembrance of You, gratitude to You, desire for You, repentance, and success in achieving that which You granted to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad — Your blessings be upon him and upon them.
