Dua for Sustenance

Text and Translation

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنَّ ذُنُوْبِىْ لَمْ يَبْقَ لَهَاۤ اِلَّا رَجَاۤءُ عَفْوِكَ

ALLAAHUMMA INNA ZUNOOBEE LAM YABQA LAHAA ILLAA RAJAAA-O A'FWIKA

O Allah, indeed my sins have left nothing for them except hope in Your pardon,

وَ قَدْ قَدَّمْتُ اٰلَةَ الْحِرْمَانِ بَيْنَ يَدَىَّ

WA QAD QADDAMTU AALATAL HIRMAANI BAYNA YADAYYA

and I have set the tools of deprivation before myself,

فَاَنَا اَسْئَلُكَ مَا لَاۤ اَسْتَحِقُّهُ

FA-ANAA AS-ALUKA MAA LAA ASTAHIQQUH

so I ask You for what I do not deserve,

وَ اَدْعُوْكَ مَالَاۤ اَسْتَوْجِبُهُ

WA AD-U'KA MAA LAA ASTAWJIBUH

and I call upon You for what I have no claim to,

وَ اَتَضَرَّعُ اِلَيْكَ بِمَا لَاۤ اَسْتَاْهِلُهُ

WA ATADARRA-U' ILAYKA BIMAA LAA ASTA-HILUH

and I implore You humbly for what I do not merit,

وَ لَمْ يَخْفَ عَلَيْكَ حَالِىْ وَ اِنْ خَفِىَ عَلَى النَّاسِ كُنْهُ مَعْرِفَةِ اَمْرِىْ

WA LAM YAKHFA A'LAYKA HAALEE WA IN KHAFIYA A'LAN NAASI KUNHA MA'RIFATI AMREE

yet my condition is not hidden from You, even though the true nature of my affair is hidden from other people.

اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنْ كَانَ رِزْقِىْ فِى السَّمَاۤءِ فَاَهْبِطْهُ

ALLAAHUMMA IN KAANA RIZQEE FIS SAMAAA-I FA-AHBITH-HU

O Allah, if my sustenance is in the sky, then bring it down,

وَ اِنْ كَانَ فِى الْاَرْضِ فَاَظْهِرْهُ

WA IN KAANA FIL ARDI FA-AZHIRHU

and if it is in the earth, then bring it forth,

وَ اِنْ كَانَ بَعِيْدًا فَقَرِّبْهُ

WA IN KAANA BA-E'EEDAN FA-QARRIBHU

and if it is far, then bring it near,

وَ اِنْ كَانَ قَرِيْبًا فَيَسِّرْهُ

WA IN KAANA QAREEBAN FA-YASSIRHU

and if it is near, then make it easy,

وَ اِنْ كَانَ قَلِيْلًا فَكَثِّرْهُ وَ بَارِكْ لِىْ فِيْهِ

WA IN KAANA QALEELAN FA-KATHTHIRHU WA BAARIK LEE FEEH

and if it is little, then increase it, and bless it for me.
