Merits
Shaykh Ibn Fahad has reported that when Abul-Darda’ was once informed that his house was on fire, he answered, “No, it is not on fire.” Another person met him and informed of the same, but Abul-Darda’ gave the same answer. The same answer he gave to a third person. Then, it was known that all the houses around Abul-Darda’’s house were consumed by fire except his. When he was asked how he knew that his house would not be on fire, Abul-Darda’ answered, “This is because I have heard the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) saying that whoever says this supplicatory prayer in the morning, no harm will afflict him that day, and whoever says it in evenings, no harm will attack him that night. Before I left, I had said this supplicatory prayer.”
Text and Translation
This supplicatory prayer is as follows:
اَللّٰهُمَّ اَنْتَ رَبِّىْ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْتَ عَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَ اَنْتَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيْمِ وَ لَا حَوْلَ وَ لَا قُوَّةَ اِلَّابِاللّٰهِ الْعَلِىِّ الْعَظِيْمِ مَا شَاۤءَ اللّٰهُ كَانَ وَ مَا لَمْ يَشَاۤءْ لَمْ يَكُنْ اَعْلَمُ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍقَدِيْرٌ وَ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ قَدْ اَحَاطَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عِلْمًا اَللّٰهُمَّ اِنِّىْۤ اَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِىْ وَ مِنْ شَرِّ قَضَاۤءِ السُّوْۤءِ وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ ذِىْ شَرٍّ وَ مِنْ شَرِّ الْجِنِّ وَ الْاِنْسِ وَ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ دَآبَّةٍ اَنْتَ اٰخِذٌ بِنَاصِيَتِهَا اِنَّ رَبِّىْ عَلٰى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيْمٍ.
ALLAAHUMMA ANTA RABBEE LAA ELAAHA ILLAAA ANTA A’LAYKE TAWAKKALTO WA ANTA RABBUL A’RSHIL A’ZEEME WA LAA HAWLA WA LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAAHEL A’LIYYIL A’ZEEME MAA SHAAA-AL LAAHO KAANA WA MAA LAM YASHAAA LAM YAKUN AA’LAMO ANNAL LAAHA A’LAA KULLE SHAY-IN QADEERUN WA ANNAL LAAHA QAD AHAATA BEKULLE SHAY-IN I’LMAN ALLAAHUMMA INNEE A-O’OZO BEKA MIN SHARRE NAFSEE WA MIN SHARRE QAZAAA-IS SOOO-E WA MIN SHARRE KULLE ZEE SHARRIN WA MIN SHARRE JINNE WAL INSE WA MIN SHARRE KULLE DAABBATIN ANTA AAKHEZUN BENAASEYATEHAAA INNA RABBEE A’LAA SERAATIM MUSTAQEEMIN.
O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no god but You; in You I have placed my trust, and You are the Lord of the Great Throne. There is no power nor strength except by Allah, the High, the Great. What Allah wills happens, and what He does not will does not happen. I know that Allah has power over all things and that Allah has encompassed all things in knowledge. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of my soul, from the evil of an ill fate, from the evil of every possessor of evil, and from the evil of the jinn and humans, and from the evil of every creature whose forelock You hold. Indeed, my Lord is upon a straight path.
