Dua 1

Al-Kulayni and al-Barqi have reported through valid chains of authority that Imam al-Sadiq and Imam al-Kazim (peace be on both of them) said: When evening falls and you look at the sun setting and falling, you may say the following words, because they secure you from all beasts, from the evils of Satan the accursed and his offspring, from whatever bites and stings, and from thieves and demons:

BISMIL LAAHIR RAHMAANIR RAHEEME AL-HAMDO LILLAAHIL LAZEE LAM YATTAKHIZ WALADAN WA LAM YAKUL LAHU SHAREEKUN FIL MULKE WAL HAMDO LILLAAHIL LAZEE YASEFO WA LAA YOOSAFO WA YA’LAMO WA LAA YO’LAMO YA’LAMO KHAAA-ENATAL AA’YONE WA MAA TUKHFIS SODOORO WA A-O’OZO BE-WAJHIL LAAHIL KAREEME WA BISMIL LAAHIL A’ZEEME MIN SHARRE MAA ZARA-A WA BARA-A WA MIN SHARRE MAA TAHTAS SARAA WA MIN SHARRE MAA ZAHARA WA MAA BATANA WA MIN SHARRE MAA KAANA FIL LAYLE WAN NAHAARE WA MIN SHARRE ABEE QITRATA WA MAA WALADA WA MIN SHARRE RASEESE WA MIN SHARRE MAA WASAFTO WA MAA LAM ASEF WAL HAMDO LILLAAHE RABBIL A’ALAMEENA.

In the name of Allah, the All-Beneficent, the All-Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, Who has not taken a son and Who has no partner in the Kingdom. All praise is due to Allah, Who describes but cannot be described, and Who knows while He cannot be (fully) known. He knows the treachery of the eyes and what the breasts conceal. I seek refuge in the Noble Countenance of Allah and in the Great Name of Allah from the evil of what He has created and brought into existence, and from the evil of what is beneath the soil, and from the evil of what is manifest and what is hidden, and from the evil of what occurs during the night and the day. I also seek refuge from the evil of Abi Qitrah (Iblis) and what he has fathered, and from the evil of deep-rooted maladies, and from the evil of what I have described and what I have not described. All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.

Dua 2

Al-Kulayni has reported through a valid chain of authority that Imam al-Baqir (a.s.) said: Whoever prays Almighty Allah with this supplicatory prayer in the morning will not be afflicted by any harm on that day, and whoever says it in the evening will not be afflicted by any harm at that night, Allah willing:

ALLAAHUMMA INNEE ASBAHTO FEE ZIMMATEKA WA JEWAAREKA ALLAAHUMMA INNEE ASTAWDE-O’KA DEENEE WA NAFSEE WA DUNYAAYA WA AAKHERATEE WA AHLEE WA MAALEE WA A-O’OZO BEKA YAA A’ZEEMO MIN SHARRE KHALQEKA JAMEE-A’N WA A-O’OZO BEKA MIN SHARRE MAA YUBLESO BEHI IBLEESO WA JONOODOHU.

O Allah, I have entered the morning under Your protection and in Your neighborhood. O Allah, I entrust to You my religion, my soul, my worldly life, my Hereafter, my family, and my wealth. I seek refuge in You, O Great One, from the evil of all Your creation, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of that by which Iblis and his hosts cause despair.

Dua 3

Al-Kulayni has reported through a semi-authentic chain of authority that a man came to Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) and asked him to teach him a supplicatory prayer he would say every morning and evening. The Imam (a.s.) therefore instructed him to say the following:

AL-HAMDO LILLAAHIL LAZEE YAF-A’LO MAA YASHAAA-O WA LAA YAF-A’LO MAA YASHAAA-O GHAYROHU AL-HAMDO LILLAAHE KAMAA YOHIBBUL LAAHO AN YOHMADA AL-HAMDO LILLAAHE KAMAA HOWA AHLOHU ALLAAHUMMA ADKHILNEE FEE KULLE KHAYRIN ADKHALTA FEEHE MOHAMMADAN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN WA AKHREJNEE MIN KULLE SOOO-IN AKHRAJTA MINHO MOHAMMADAN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN SALLAL LAAHO A’LAA MOHAMMADIN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN.

All praise is due to Allah, Who does what He wills, and none other than Him can do what he wills. All praise is due to Allah just as Allah loves to be praised. All praise is due to Allah as He is worthy of. O Allah, admit me into every goodness into which You admitted Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and take me out of every evil from which You took out Muhammad and the family of Muhammad. May the blessings of Allah be upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.

Dua 4

In the book of al-Balad al-Amin, the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) is reported to have said: Whoever repeats this saying (composed of Quranic verses) seven times in the morning, Almighty Allah will save him that whole day:

FALLAAHO KHAYRUN HAAFEZAN WA HOWA ARHAMUR RAAHEMEENA INNA WALIYYEYAL LAAHUL LAZEE NAZZALAL KETAABA WA HOWA YATAWALLAS SAALEHEENA FA-IN TAWALLAW FAQUL HASBEYAL LAAHO LAA ELAAHA ILLAA HOWA A’LAYHE TAWAKKALTO WA HOWA RABBUL A’RSHIL A’ZEEME.

But Allah is the best guardian, and He is the most merciful of the merciful. Indeed, my protector is Allah, Who sent down the Book, and He befriends the righteous. But if they turn away, then say: ‘Allah is sufficient for me; there is no god but Him. In Him I have placed my trust, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne’.
