Dua for repaying the Debts

Text and Translation

First: Imam al-Sadiq (a) advised saying this supplicatory prayer:

اَللّٰهُمَّ لَحْظَةً مِنْ لَحَظَاتِكَ

ALLAAHUMMA LAHZATAN MIN LAHAZAATIKA

O Allah, (grant) one glance of Your glances

تُيَسِّرُ عَلٰى غُرَمَاۤئِىْ بِهَا الْقَضَاۤءَ وَ تُيَسِّرُ لِىْ بِهَا الْاِقْتِضَاۤءَ

TUYASSIRO A'LAA GHURAMAAA-EE BIHAL QADAAA-A WA TUYASSIRU LEE BIHAL IQTIDAAA-A

by which You ease repayment for my creditors and ease for me the collection of what is owed to me,

اِنَّكَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيْرٌ

INNAKA A'LAA KULLI SHAY-IN QADEER

verily You have power over all things.

Second: this supplicatory prayer is reported from Imam Musa ibn Ja'far al-Kazim (a):

اَللّٰهُمَّ ارْدُدْ اِلٰى جَمِيْعِ خَلْقِكَ مَظَالِمَهُمُ الَّتِىْ قِبَلِىْ صَغِيْرَهَا وَ كَبِيْرَهَا فِىْ يُسْرٍ مِّنْكَ وَ عَافِيَةٍ

ALLAAHUMMAR DUD ILAA JAMEE-I' KHALQIKA MAZAALIMAHUMUL LATEE QIBALEE SAGHEERAHAA WA KABEERAHAA FEE YUSRIM MINKA WA A'AAFIYAH

O Allah, restore to all Your creatures whatever wrongs of theirs are upon me, small or great, with ease and well-being from You,

وَّ مَالَمْ تَبْلُغْهُ قُوَّتِىْ وَ لَمْ تَسَعْهُ ذَاتُ يَدِىْ وَ لَمْ يَقْوَ عَلَيْهِ بَدَنِىْ وَ يَقِيْنِىْ وَ نَفْسِىْ

WA MAA LAM TABLUGHHU QUWWATEE WA LAM TASA-A'HU ZAATU YADEE WA LAM YAQWA A'LAYHI BADANEE WA YAQEENEE WA NAFSEE

and whatever my strength cannot reach, my means cannot encompass, and my body, certainty, and soul cannot bear,

فَاَدِّهِ عَنِّىْ مِنْ جَزِيْلِ مَا عِنْدَكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

FA-ADDIHI A'NNEE MIN JAZEELI MAA I'NDAKA MIN FADLIKA

then discharge it on my behalf from the abundant bounty that is with You,

ثُمَّ لَاتُخَلِّفْ عَلَىَّ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا تَقْضِيْهِ مِنْ حَسَنَاتِىْ يَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ

THUMMA LAA TUKHALLIF A'LAYYA MINHU SHAY-AN TAQDEEHI MIN HASANAATEE YAA ARHAMAR RAAHIMEEN

and leave nothing of it behind for me to be settled from my good deeds, O Most Merciful of the merciful.

اَشْهَدُ اَنْ لَّاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَهُ

ASH-HADU AL LAA ILAAHA ILLAL LAAHO WAHDAHU LAA SHAREEKA LAH

I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, with no partner unto Him,

وَ اَشْهَدُ اَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَ رَسُوْلُهُ

WA ASH-HADU ANNA MUHAMMADAN A'BDUHU WA RASOOLUH

and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger,

وَ اَنَّ الدِّيْنَ كَمَا شَرَعَ وَ اَنَّ الْاِسْلَامَ كَمَا وَصَفَ

WA ANNAD DEENA KAMAA SHARA-A' WA ANNAL ISLAAMA KAMAA WASAF

and that the religion is as He legislated, and Islam is as He described,

وَ اَنَّ الْكِتَابَ كَمَا اَنْزَلَ وَ اَنَّ الْقَوْلَ كَمَا حَدَّثَ

WA ANNAL KITAABA KAMAA ANZALA WA ANNAL QAWLA KAMAA HADDATH

and the Book is as He revealed, and the word is as He related,

وَ اَنَّ اللّٰهَ هُوَ الْحَقُّ الْمُبِيْنُ

WA ANNAL LAAHA HUWAL HAQQUL MUBEEN

and that Allah is the manifest Truth.

ذَكَرَ اللّٰهُ مُحَمَّدًا وَّ اَهْلَ بَيْتِهِ بِخَيْرٍ وَّ حَيًّا مُحَمَّدًا وَّ اَهْلَ بَيْتِهِ بِالسَّلَامِ

ZAKARAL LAAHO MUHAMMADAN WA AHLA BAYTIHI BI-KHAYRIN WA HAYYAA MUHAMMADAN WA AHLA BAYTIHI BIS SALAAM

May Allah remember Muhammad and his Household with good, and greet Muhammad and his Household with peace.
