Text and Translation
al-Kaf’ami has reported that a man complained to the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) about poverty, misery, and ailment. The Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) thus instructed him to repeat this supplicatory utterance ten times every morning and evening. As the man persevered in carrying out the Prophet (s.a.w.a.)’s instruction for three days, he was saved from poverty and ailment.
Shaykh al-Tusi and others mentioned the same supplicatory utterance to be said after the dawn (fajr) Prayers:
LAA HAWLA WA LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAAHE TAWAKKALTO A’LAL HAYYIL LAZEE LAA YAMOOTO WAL HAMDO LILLAAHIL LAZEE LAM YATTAKHIZ WALADAN WA LAM YAKUL LAHU SHAREEKUN FIL MULKE WA LAM YAKUL LAHU WALIYYUM MENAZ ZULLE WA KABBIRHO TAKBEERAN.
There is no power nor strength except by Allah. I have placed my trust in the Ever-Living Who does not die. And all praise is due to Allah, Who has not taken a son, and Who has no partner in His Kingdom, and Who has no helper out of weakness; and proclaim His greatness with a magnificent proclamation.
