First: Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) is reported to have advised of the following: For all ailments, you may say this supplicatory prayer:
BISMIL LAAHE WA BILLAAHE KAM MIN NE’MATIN LILLAAHE FEE I’RQE SAAKENO WA GHAYRA SAAKENO, A’LAA A’BDIN SHAAKERIN WA GHAYRA SHAAKERIN.
In the name of Allah and by Allah; how many a blessing of Allah is there in every vein, whether still or moving, upon a servant, whether grateful or ungrateful.
Upon accomplishing an obligatory prayer, you may grasp your beard with your right hand and repeat the following supplicatory prayer three times:
ALLAAHUMMA FARRIJ A’NNEE KURBATEE WA A’JJIL A’AFEYATEE WAK SHIF ZURREE
O Allah, relieve my distress, hasten my wellbeing, and remove my affliction.
Make sure that you associate this supplicatory prayer with tears and weeping.
Second: Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) is also reported to have advised: Put your hand on the ailed organ and say this:
BISMIL LAAHE WA BILLAAHE, WA MOHAMMADUR RASOOLUL LAAHE SALLAL LAAHO A’LAYHE WA AALEHI, WA LAA HAWLA WA LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAAHE, ALLAAHUMMAM SAH A’NNEE MAA AJEDO.
In the name of Allah and by Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah—blessings of Allah be upon him and his family—and there is no power nor strength except by Allah. O Allah, wipe away from me what I am experiencing.
You may then rub your right hand over the ailed organ three times.
Third: Imam al-Baqir (a.s.) is reported to have said: When Imam ‘Ali (a.s.) was ailed, the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) came to him and advised him to say this supplicatory prayer:
ALLAAHUMMA INNEE AS-ALOKA TA’JEE-LA A’AFEYATEKA WA SABRAN A’LAA BALIYYATEKA, WA KHOROOJAN ELAYKA RAHMATEKA
O Allah, I ask You for the hastening of Your healing, patience upon Your trial, and an exit toward Your mercy.
Fourth: Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) is reported to have advised of the following:
You may put your hand on the ailed organ and repeat this supplicatory prayer three times:
ALLAAHUMMA INNEE AS-ALOKA BE-HAQQIL QUR-AANIL A’ZEEME, ALLAZEE NAZALA BEHIR ROOHUL AMEENO, WA HOWA I’NDAKA FEE UMMIL KETAABE A’LIYYUN HAKEEMUN, AN TASHFEYANEE BE-SHEFAAA-EKA WA TODAAWEYANEE BE-DAWAAA-EKA, WA TO-A’AFEYANEE MIN BALAAA-EKA WA TOSALLEYA A’LAA MOHAMMADIN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN.
O Allah, I ask You by the right of the Great Quran, with which the Trustworthy Spirit descended, and which is with You in the Mother of the Book, exalted and full of wisdom, that You heal me with Your healing, treat me with Your remedy, grant me wellbeing from Your trial, and bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.
Fifth: Abu-Hamzah is reported to have said: One day, I felt pain in my knee. When I complained about it to Imam al-Baqir (a.s.), he advised me, saying: Upon accomplishment of a prayer, you may say this supplicatory prayer:
YAA AJWADA MAN AA’TAA, WA YAA KHAYRA MAN SO-ELA, WA YAA ARHAMA MANIS TURHEMA, IRHAM ZA’FEE WA QILLATA HEELATEE, WA AA’FENEE MIN WAJA-E’E.
O most Generous of those who give, O Best of those who are asked, and O most Merciful of those from whom mercy is sought, have mercy upon my weakness and my lack of means, and grant me relief from my pain.
Abu-Hamzah added: When I did, I was healed.
It is worth mentioning that I have referred in Section Three to other supplicatory prayers against ailments and illnesses.
