Text and Translation
Shaykh al-Kaf’ami, in al-Balad al-Ameen, has mentioned a supplicatory prayer that is reported from Imam Ali Ameer al-Momineen (a.s.) saying that no grief-stricken, worried, depressed, distressed, or aggrieved person recites it but that Almighty Allah will certainly take the edge off him. This supplication is as follows:
يَا عِمَادَ مَنْ لَا عِمَادَ لَهٗ
YAA E’MAADA MAN LAA E’MAADA LAHU
O Pillar of the one who has no pillar!
وَ يَا ذُخْرَ مَنْ لَا ذُخْرَ لَهٗ
WA YAA ZUKHRA MAN LAA ZUKHRA LAHU
O Treasure of the one who has no treasure!
وَيَا سَنَدَ مَنْ لَا سَنَدَ لَهٗ
WA YAA SANADA MAN LAA SANADA LAHU
O Support of the one who has no support!
وَ يَا حِرْزَ مَنْ لَا حِرْزَ لَهٗ
WA YAA HIRZA MAN LAA HIRZA LAHU
O Sanctuary of the one who has no sanctuary!
وَ يَا غِيَاثَ مَنْ لَا غِيَاثَ لَهٗ
WA YAA GHEYAASA MAN LAA GHEYAASA LAHU
O Helper of the one who has no helper!
وَ يَا كَنْزَ مَنْ لَا كَنْزَ لَهٗ
WA YAA KANZA MAN LAA KANZA LAHU
O Storehouse of the one who has no storehouse!
وَ يَا عِزَّ مَنْ لَا عِزَّ لَهٗ
WA YAA I’ZZA MAN LAA I’ZZA LAHU
O Might of the one who has no might!
يَا كَرِيْمَ الْعَفْوِ يَا حَسَنَ التَّجَاوُزِ
YAA KAREEMAL A’FWE YAA HASANAT TAJAAWOZE
O Noble in forgiveness! O Beautiful in forbearance!
يَا عَوْنَ الضُّعَفاۤءِ يَا كَنْزَ الْفُقَرَاۤءِ
YAA A’WNAZ ZO-A’FAAA-E’ YAA KANZAL FOQARAAA-E
O Helper of the weak! O Wealth of the poor!
يَا عَظِيْمَ الرَّجَاۤءِ يَا مُنْقِذَ الْغَرْقٰى
YAA A’ZEEMAR RAJAAA-E YAA MUNQEZAL GHARQAA
O Sublime Object of hope! O Deliverer of the drowning!
يَا مُنْجِىَ الْهَلْكٰى يَا مُحْسِنُ
YAA MUNJEYAL HALKAA YAA MOHSENO
O Savior of the perishing! O Beneficent!
يَا مُجْمِلُ يَا مُنْعِمُ يَا مُفْضِلُ
YAA MUJMELO YAA MUN-E’MO YAA MUFZELO
O Gracious! O Bestower of blessings! O Giver of bounty!
اَنْتَ الَّذِىْ سَجَدَ لَكَ سَوَادُ اللَّيْلِ وَ نُوْرُ النَّهَارِ
ANTAL LAZEE SAJADA LAKA SAWAADUL LAYLE WA NOORUN NAHAARE
You are the One before whom bows the darkness of the night, the light of the day,
وَ ضَوْءُ الْقَمَرِ وَ شُعَاعُ الشَّمْسِ
WA ZAW-UL QAMARE WA SHO-A’A-USH SHAMSE
the radiance of the moon, the rays of the sun,
وَحَفِيْفُ الشَّجَرِ وَ دَوِىُّ الْمَاۤءِ
WA HAFEEFUSH SHAJARE WA DAWIYYUL MAAA-E
the rustling of the trees, and the murmuring of the water!
يَا اَللهُ يَا اَللهُ يَا اَللهُ
YAA ALLAAHO YAA ALLAAHO YAA ALLAAHO
O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!
لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا اَنْتَ وَحْدَكَ لَا شَرِيْكَ لَكَ
LAAA ELAAHA ILLAAA ANTA WAHD-AKA LAA SHAREEKA LAKA
There is no god except You, alone, without any partner.
يَا رَبَّاهُ يَا اَللهُ صَلِّ عَلٰى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّ اٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
YAA RABBAAHO YAA ALLAAHO SALLE A’LAA MOHAMMADINW WA AALE MOHAMMADINW
O Lord! O Allah! Bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad,
وَّ افْعَلْ بِنَا مَا اَنْتَ اَهْلُهٗ.
WAF-A’L BENAA MAA ANTA AHLOHU.
and deal with us according to what befits You.
You may then mention your personal needs.
It is worth mentioning that the following supplicatory prayer is reported from Imam Muhammad al-Jawad(a.s.) who said that if it is recited regularly, it achieves relief and releases from grief and ordeals:
يَا مَنْ يَّكْفِىْ مِنْ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَّلَا يَكْفِىْ مِنْهُ شَىْءٌ اِكْفِنِىْ مَاۤ اَهَمَّنِىْ
YAA MAY YAKFEE MIN KULLE SHAY-IW WA LAA YAKFEE MINHO SHAY-UN IKFENEE MAA AHAMMANEE.
O One who suffices against all things, while nothing can suffice against Him! Suffice me in that which worries and distresses me.
