Dua e Faraj - Ilahi Azomal Bala اِلٰهِيْ عَظُمَ الْبَلَاۤءُ

Text and Translation

اِلٰهِیْ عَظُمَ الْبَلَآءُ

EELAAHI A’ZOMAL BALAAA-O

O Allah, terrible was the calamity,

وَ بَرِحَ الْخَفَآءُ

WA BAREHAL KHAFAAA-O

and its evil consequences are visible,

وَ انْكَشَفَ الْغِطَآءُ

WAN KASHAFAL GHETAAA-O

the covering has been removed,

وَ انْقَطَعَ الرَّجَاءُ

WAN QATA-A'R RAJAAA-O

(all) hopes have been cut off,

وَ ضَاقَتِ الْاَرْضُ

WA ZAAQATIL ARZO

the (plentiful) earth has shrunk (with very little to spare),

وَ مُنِعَتِ السَّمَآءُ

WA MONE-A'TIS SAMAAA-O

the heavenly blessings have been withheld.

وَ اَنْتَ الْمُسْتَعَانُ

WA ANTAL MUSTA-A’ANO

You alone can help,

وَ اِلَیْكَ الْمُشْتَكٰی

WA ELAYKAL MUSHTAKAA,

we refer our grief and sorrow to You,

وَ عَلَیْكَ الْمُعَوَّلُ فِی الشِّدَّۃِ وَ الرَّخَآءِ

WA A’LAYKAL MO-A'WWALO FISH-SHIDDATE WAR RAKHAAA-E.

we have full faith in You, in the time of distress, as well as in good fortune.

اَللّٰهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلٰی مُحَمَّدٍ وَّاٰلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

ALLAAHUMMA SALLE A’LAA MOHAMMADIWN WA AALE MOHAMMADIN

O Allah, send blessings on Muhammad and on the children of Muhammad,

اُوْلِی الْاَمْرِ الَّذِیْنَ فَرَضْتَ عَلَیْنَا طَاعَتَهُمْ

OLIL AMRIL LAZEENA FARAZTA A’LAYNAA TAA-A’TAHUM

The ‘Ulil Amr’ (authority), obedience to whom has been made obligatory

وَ عَرَّفْتَنَا بِذٰلِكَ مَنْزِلَتَهُمْ

WA A’RRAFTANAA BE ZAALEKA MANZELATAHUM

through which we become aware of their rank and status,

فَفَرِّجْ عَنَّا بِحَقِّهِمْ فَرَجًا عَاجِلًا قَرِیْبًا

FA-FARRIJ A'NNAA BE HAQQEHIM FARAJAN A-A’JELAN QAREEBAN

Therefore let there be joy after sorrow for us, for their sake, right away,

كَلَمْحِ الْبَصَرِ اَوْ هُوَ اَقْرَبُ

KALAM-HIL BASARE AW HOWA AQRABO

in the twinkle of an eye, more rapidly than that.

یَا مُحَمَّدُ یَا عَلِیُّ یَا عَلِیُّ یَا مُحَمَّدُ

YAA MOHAMMADO YAA A'LIYYO YAA A'LIYYO YAA MOHAMMADO

ا O Muhammad, O Ali, O Ali, O Muhammad,

ِكْفِیَا نِیْ فَاِنَّكُمَا كَافِیَانِ

IKFEYAANI FA INNAKOMAA KAAFEYAANE

Give me enough, because both of you provide sufficiently.

وَانْصُرَانِ فَاِنَّكُمَا نَاصِرَانِ

WAN SORAANEE FA-INNAKOMAA NAASERAANE

Help me, because both of you help and protect.

یَا مَوْلَانَا یَاصَاحِبَ الزَّمَانِ

YAA MAWLAANAA YAA SAAHEBAZ ZAMAANE.

O our master, O the living Imam,

الْغَوْثَ الْغَوْثَ الْغَوْتَ

AL-GHAWS AL-GHAWS AL-GHAWS

HELP! HELP! HELP!

اَدْرِكْنِیْ اَدْرِكْنِیَ اَدْرِكْنِیَ

ADRIKNEE ADRIKNEE ADRIKNEE.

Reach me! Reach me! Reach me!

السَّاعَۃَ السَّاعَۃَ السَّاعَۃَ

AS-SAA-A'TA AS-SAA-A'TA AS-SAA-A'TA

At once, in this hour.

اَلْعَجَلَ الْعَجَلَ الْعَجَلَ

AL-A'JAL AL-A'JAL AL-A'JAL

Be quick, be quick, be quick,

یَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِیْنَ

YAA ARHAMAR RAAHEMEEN.

O the most merciful,

بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَّاٰلِهِ الطَّاهِرِیْنَ.

BE-HAQQE MOHAMMADIWN WA AALEHIT TAAHEREEN.

for the sake of Muhammad and his pure children.
